Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

Oh yes. Fabulous song. And that intro! Oldest brother got a cassette of the single when it came out and I heard it alot.

Taylor Swift did a duet with Def Leppard on that song (growing up her mum played Def Leppard constantly)

Def leppard- when love and hate collide, an absolute banger!

Previous post in response to this.

Who the fuck is SOM?

Freakin love sisters of mercy! There's a tribute band doing the rounds called sanctum of santorium and they're better than the real deal ( now Andrew eldritch has entirely crawled up his own backside)

You Can Talk To Me by the Seahorses.

One of mine would be 'Blinded by the Sun' by the Seahorses

SlightlyJaded · 02/11/2024 23:30

In fact, I will go further and say that Blinded by the Sun is one of the most under-rated Britpop/Indie tunes of that era. John Squire's guitar on this was incredible.

Most of us in Ireland will remember this (can't imagine many outside will).

Gorgeous song by Eleanor McEvoy.

I remember that one @Drinkdrinkduuurink - I’m not in Ireland, though

Bloody love that song.

coxesorangepippin · 03/11/2024 01:03

Does anyone have these in list format

😂

RenoDakota · 03/11/2024 08:48

Just remembered another one: Where's me Jumper? by The Sultans of Ping.

Does anyone remember Bad Boys Inc? I swear they were more popular than Take That for a while… Why do I feel like walking on air?!

I loved Bad boys inc....more to this world was my favourite

Just want to chuck in Toca Me by Fragma. Everyone knows Toca's Miracle, but I prefer this one.

Love that song too, one of my favourite versions is the Inpetto vocal edit. I absolutely loved the album when it first came out and listened to it endlessly, still do fairly often when I’m feeling nostalgic.

@IKEAJesus @DrizzleMySwizzle @herecomesautumn @Mackemlass79

I play the Undercover version of Baker Street all the time! It's so dated but I love it 😀

MsJacksonIfYoureNasty · 03/11/2024 16:48

Probably not that obscure but Play Dead by Bjork

Also Carte Blanche - Veracocha

and O T Quartet - Hold That Sucker Down

Oh come on 🤣🤣🤣

Both great songs in my opinion, but obviously not everyone's cup of tea😂

OnlyheretovoteonAIBU · 03/11/2024 21:29

Connor Reeves, had 2 hits in the 90s with My Father’s Son and Earthbound. Don’t know if anyone else remembers him…

Oh my god, I used to LOVE Earthbound. His voice was stunning. I think I could still sing whole song by heart (very badly 😅)

Edited to add I think it was on Now 38 which also had Don’t Leave by Faithless on it that was this sort of slow acoustic love song and nothing like any of their other very trancey tracks! But I loved it.

OliviaRodrighost · 03/11/2024 21:36

A bit less acoustic than I remember, but so weird to be a Faithless song!

Oh I remember Don't Leave as it was on the soundtrack of A Life Less Ordinary, as was Ash's song with the same name.

OliviaRodrighost · 03/11/2024 22:07

@xsquared Love that Ash song! And the film. I remember there was a kiss between Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor where there was a string of drool between them. Put me off kissing for a while 😳

xsquared · 03/11/2024 22:26

@OliviaRodrighost I remember they kiss as that song comes on but not that detail. 😂

Youllnevergetabetterbitofbutteronyourknife · 03/11/2024 22:32

@Specksofwhiteallaround I remember No Mercy Where Do You Go from 1994. It still gives me a funny feeling when I hear it and I'm 15 again!

Walking on the Milky Way - OMD

I love that one! DH is a massive OMD fan and has indoctrinated the kids - DD says she lowers the average age of the audience by about 40 years when she's gone with him to see them live.

Space and The Divine Comedy, love their slightly oddball storylines/lyrics!

I had a school friend who loved Female of the Species and went around singing “Shock, shock, horror, horror. Shock, shock, horror” all day 🤣

Female of the species and Something for the weekend are in the compilation cd in my car right now!

Great songs that nearly everyone knows!
