Any one else with a favourite song from the nineties that no one else remembers?

Mine is Operaa House by Malcolm McLaren. I spent many a happy hour being driven through New Zealand as a kid torturing my parents by singing along to this and Aria on Air but no one I’ve meet seems to know of it. Still absolutely adore it as an adult but sadly no better at singing it.

Not sure about that but Your Woman sounds like it samples a song or two!

It's called Love again, sampled the trumpet bit which we know from White Town's Your woman, which I now know was sampled from Lew Stone's My Woman.

Another couple of indie ones

Duel by Swervedriver
Overthrown by Libido

Someone mentioned My Life Story, Angel was a beautiful song, I listened to it on repeat coming home on the train after visiting my then boyfriend at Uni.

1998 by Binary Finary

1998 by Binary Finary might be my absolute favourite song of all time, there’s so many good mixes of it out there and it never fails to lift my mood.

Gouryella - Gouryella equally as uplifting. Trance was a beautiful thing.

Love that one too, just need someone to make a thread for everyone’s favourite trance/dance songs too so I can add to my playlists 😄

Chicane - Offshore
Quite a big hit if you were into dance but never hear it now.

Don’t let go by Eternal has just come back to me.. Not in the territory of favourite songs but I have very happy memories of belting that out with my mates after DT 😂

It’s called ‘Just a step from heaven’. Not Don’t Let Go

I'd forgotten about that Stroke 9 song. I went travelling around the US in 2000 and it was still all over US radio stations then. I wonder if it had been re released.

It was released as a single in 1999, so it's conceivable it could still have been on rotation in 2000.

I love Your Woman. Big hit though so plenty of people know about it

i really don't agree. It’s rarely played and no one here has mentioned the original to date. I thought twice about posting at all due to comments like this.

it’s a lovely thread of suggestions, regardless of whether others think they are forgotten or not.

Shangrilalala · 02/11/2024 21:28

Actually this may have been mentioned before. It’s just a bit tedious when individuals feel the need to comment on whether songs (which posters may feel strongly about) have a ‘place’ on this thread.

Anyone remember 'Shake your head (let's go to bed)' by Was Not Was?!

DrizzleMySwizzle · 02/11/2024 21:48

CrepuscularCritter · 02/11/2024 11:06

That whole album is great, and I still listen to it regularly, especially Somethin' Hot and Omerta.

John the Baptist has a great groove, but it always seems so sad to me. He's got the wine and the Marvin Gaye, but then it's

'I only want to see you happy
Baby can we pretend'

Still a set list staple.

I don't think Greg Dulli knows how to write a song about a healthy and happy relationship! 😂

But yes, great album!

Yes by McAlmont and Butler. It’s a great break up song.

OMG - Yes - I do feel better!
Fabulous- why were they not more successful?

Just want to chuck in Toca Me by Fragma. Everyone knows Toca's Miracle, but I prefer this one.

Alice Band - I Quit.

Proper London vibes.

It was Hepburn that sung I quit in the 90’s 😉 my uncle managed Our Price and it was a really hard album to get I still have it

Mackemlass79 · 02/11/2024 22:09

Hazard by Richard Marx I mean who doesn't enjoy a good love song where a poor young lovestruck man is being framed for murder because his face didn't fit with locals? Perfect for the teenage angst. Also Baker street no idea artist

Spooce · 02/11/2024 22:25

Def leppard- when love and hate collide, an absolute banger!

I mentioned "I love your smile" earlier. That was by Shanice Wilson or just Shanice as she was known at the time.

Baker Street??

The absolute classic from the 70s or another version?

DrizzleMySwizzle · 02/11/2024 23:04

I have a vague memory of an early 90s dance version of Baker Street.
