There's only one floating pile of garbage in this story and it lives in Mar a Lago.

To Kamala Harris and all the other Democratic candidates on the ballot - May your courage, determination and hard work bring you the success you deserve. ❤️
To Donald (Jessica) Trump - May you get everything you deserve... and then some.

The Guardian interviewed someone who voted Trump for prez but Democrat right down the rest of the ticket. Why?

Most likely because people look at whether their own lives have improved in the last 4 years without considering the wider economic picture.

FML, just doing the quickest of catch ups here and across Twitter and a variety of TV channels, is it swinging towards him, really? Particularly in Georgia but a general momentum his way? Tell me I'm wrong!!

I stil think too early to call.

No, that’s correct. Odds are in his favour with betting sites too. I think he’ll do this.

Agree. Way too early to call yet.

Too early to draw conclusions. Ab earlier poster pointed out that rural Republican counties tend to declare earlier. Trump's lead in Georgia is diminishing slowly.

TokyoSushi · 06/11/2024 01:32

Gah, I feel a bit 2016 Brexit vote sick.

Surely this can't happen (I know it can) Perhaps we're just seeing a general focus on states he'd win anyway of which there are many around the SE.

There's still so far to go, but I don't see how I can possibly go back to bed now!

TokyoSushi · 06/11/2024 01:35

OK have gathered thoughts now, it's ok, it's not ideal, but it is still ok! Let's go with that! 🫣

tobee · 06/11/2024 01:35

I'm still here and feeling absolutely terrible. I felt absolutely terrible for most of the night in 2020 but can't tell if I'm feeling more terrible now than then 🙃

At the moment America is turning Red.. Trump is leading 111 Harris 72.. Republicans also winning the house & Senate elections.. It's very very early days though

BreadInCaptivity · 06/11/2024 01:37

Last election we saw Trump take the lead over Biden.

As a pp has explained the "Red Mirage" is generally expected in early counting.

Far too early to call yet.

I was wondering how this compared to 2020, thanks

MissConductUS · 06/11/2024 01:38

Go to bed you crazy Brits! The polls are still open almost everywhere. The picture will be much clearer tomorrow.

TokyoSushi · 06/11/2024 01:40

We did, the east coast is very red, especially the south east, so just by the law of timezones he's likely to take an early lead. I think/hope this is just a 'stop the count' situation and the blue votes are coming. Georgia is looking like it might go red.

We're not out of the woods yet, but we are very much in the woods!

I've done all nighters every year in the US elections since I was a teenager. The exception was in 2016 when I went to bed convinced we'd have the first woman President and woke up to Trump.

On the basis of that I don't want to jinx it!

Boopear · 06/11/2024 01:41

The CNN feed is really good at comparing to 2020 at a county level in terms of %vote - it’s really interesting.

BustingBaoBun · 06/11/2024 01:42

I've been asleep woken up and read the posts and caught up on the thread and I cannot stand it so going back to sleep for a while.

I watched channel 4 before I went to sleep and Johnson was absolutely shameful and put me in a bad mood. He was vile. Very rude and of course lauded Trump when not plugging his book

Catch up later..

What's the mood like on CNN, are they confident for Harris ? I traditionally watch Fox so I'm sticking with them!

TokyoSushi · 06/11/2024 01:44

Ok, I'm going back to bed and am going to try to stay thee until 4, hopefully things will have moved along in the right direction otherwise you'll witness me losing the plot for a second time in one night! Off to stare at the ceiling for a bit! 😬
