If someone said they'd arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 - what time would you expect them?

What time?

OP posts:
BeMintBee · 01/11/2024 14:50

Anytime after 9am but no later than 9.45am

If I meant 9:15 I would say 9.15 I wouldn’t give a half hour window. I generally give very specific times and tend to turn up on the dot. Occasionally try to play it cool and wait to knock at 9.16am 🤣

Time blindness is a cognitive condition that causes difficulties in perceiving and managing time, often leading to challenges in punctuality and planning.

Glad you have your shit together though 👌

Does this mean you are forever missing planes for holiday and are always late for work?

PadstowGirl · 01/11/2024 14:56

If the person works for the NHS id expect them around lunch time.

Toastandbutterand · 01/11/2024 15:04

I have ADHD too and would find a window difficult. I'd aim for 9:25. But a window of time provides me with options, which is bad for my time keeping.

I'd be bang on 9:25 as long as nothing disrupted my flow. If something did disrupt my flow we're in the territory where Im constantly texting you telling you exactly where I am so you can still know exactly when to expect me. I would also be very apologetic.

I'm a very annoying person.

I have missed loads of appointments too, so it's not just friends and family this happens to. My GP tells me a time to get there and they fit me in whenever now. My GP is amazing.

I've had therapy for this! This why I have a system for leaving the house now!

Loonaandalf · 01/11/2024 15:06

9.30 earliest

Biscuits247 · 01/11/2024 15:06

Also not sure why this is in telly addicts. But this gives me the absolute rage. If you say you'll be there between 9 and 930, be there between those times!

If you are travelling from further away, stick it in the satnav the day before, find average time and give half an hour window either side, so I'll be with you between 10 and 11, traffic dependent...

Most of all though, send an update when possible. If you've set off at 8am and decided to stop at x y or z, or the sat nav now says arrival is likely half hour later just please tell the other person.

Okay rant and plea over.

HotCrossBunplease · 01/11/2024 15:07

I’d be ready for them to arrive at 9.01 but not be disappointed or surprised if they arrived at 9:30.

cuupe · 01/11/2024 11:00

What time?

Why is this on Telly Addicts............? Confused

@cuupe Around 9.15 to 9.20.

Biscuits247 · 01/11/2024 15:09

If you find yourself unable to keep to a schedule for whatever reason (of course it is genuinely challenging for some) would those people consider using location sharing on WhatsApp (you can choose the contact to share your location for a set time with)?

Only @cuupe can answer that!
But looks like no context is forthcoming 🙄

BeerForMyHorses · 01/11/2024 15:12

I would expect them to arrive between those times.

lollypopsforme · 01/11/2024 14:43

if i say ill be there 9.00 -9-30 it means ill see you at 10.30 11-00.
Tbh i dont role out of bed till 9.30 and thats early for me.

So rude, the person waiting for you has to get up early in case you turn up at 9 then sit twiddling their thumbs for 2 hours. Don’t agree to meet so early if you can’t do it.

Lalaminilala · 01/11/2024 15:14

Emm I would be ready to greet them at 8.50 ish and be all ready for them. I’d expect they would come between 9-9.30 like they said . After 9.40 id message then

TheOpalReader · 01/11/2024 15:17

If I told someone I'd be there between 9-9:30 I'd be aiming to get there for 9. The 9:30 would give me the wiggle room incase of traffic/diversions etc. If I was told by someone 9-9:30 I'd be asking where they were by 9:35

Cattyisbatty · 01/11/2024 15:18

In reality by 9.30.
I'd be there about 9.10 (really I'd like to get there at 9am but have to learn to chill about time).
Some of my friends would be later than 9.30 - they know who they are! This is why I'd say 'come at 9' and not expect them til .9.30 - I wouldn't give a timeframe as that's carte blanche to come even later.

Incredibly rude, isn't it?
To think it's OK to turn up 2 hours late because you can't be arsed to get out of bed - I can't believe there's people like this in the world.
If you're not getting up until 9.30, don't tell people you'll be somewhere 9-9.30.

Isonthecase · 01/11/2024 15:19

9.30 or 9.30 ISH? Because if it's an ISH it means probably subject to all going smoothly on the day

EPankhurst · 01/11/2024 15:21

My customers: 8am and banging down the door demanding to know why I am not open yet!

My parents: 8.55 to 9.55

Me: 9.25-9.45 with a text apologising for being late

Yes rude and weird. If you have zero intention to meet someone at the time agreed then you're just lying for no apparent reason to a friend.

I would aim for 9.05 the earlier end of the time, that way if you are late, it wont be a problem

So what time did your guests arrive?

To me, the point of giving a half hour window is to allow for any delays. So I’d be aiming for 9, but might end up closer to 9.30 if the baby needs a nappy change just before we leave, or the toddler has a tantrum, or the traffic is really bad etc.
