If someone said they'd arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 - what time would you expect them?

What time?

OP posts:
Meanwhile33 · 01/11/2024 12:42

My relatives - anytime from 9:15 to 10ish
In laws - 8:35
certain friends - around 11

Gonegirl7 · 01/11/2024 12:43

9:28

coxesorangepippin · 01/11/2024 12:44

Personally I'd be there around 9.10

Most people I know would piss me off and be there by 9.40

Which I cannot stand

Bettergetthebunker · 01/11/2024 12:45

9

YellowphantGrey · 01/11/2024 12:46

Is this to do with a tv programme?

At the earliest? When excited kids are involved?

FGS. Why don’t you just ask what you really want to ask 🙄

mpsw · 01/11/2024 12:50

08:55 - 09:20 Grin

Lots of military family and friends - so if you're not 5 mins early, you're late!

For other people, I'd expect what it says on the tin, with an update call/message by 09:25 if they know they're running late.

Funnywonder · 01/11/2024 12:50

Any time between those two times, but probably towards the latter end. I would fully expect them not to be late, given that they had a window of time during which to arrive.

PrimoPiatti · 01/11/2024 12:54

If they were Italian, 11:00 the next day.

To be fair, you didn’t mention excited kids. Or any context at all. But IME excited kids take longer to actually get ready than normal. So I stand by my answer ☺️

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/11/2024 12:59

Some old friends of ours - about ten past 11 - if we were lucky!

YellowAsteroid · 01/11/2024 13:00

If someone is giving you a half hour of time, I'd bet on them being a terminally late person, and mentally see it as 9:30, and expect them at 10am. But if you know the person usually tries to be punctual, then 9:30 at the latest.

It depends on why they've given you a half hour window of arrival time - if it's to do with unreliable public transport, for example, then I'd cut them slack, and get ready for 9:30, but not expect them to arrive on the dot.

CherryKefir · 01/11/2024 13:03

Were they coming to watch TV?

Is that why you posted in Telly Addicts?

Hankunamatata · 01/11/2024 13:03

9.30 though depending on some people and family more like 10

must be that they came too late or early and she’s missed her fav show.

NuffSaidSam · 01/11/2024 13:12

wiesowarum · 01/11/2024 12:09

Why?
They said between 9 and 9.30, not after 9.30.

That's what I said. If you expect them before 9:30 and are disappointed that's on you. 9:31 onwards it's on them.

LastNight1Dreamt1WentToManderleyAgain · 01/11/2024 13:15

Would expect 8.30 to 10.00 arrival, from horrid experience.
If I said 9 to 9.30, it would mean that exactly and probably relate to travel times allowing for traffic etc.

Um, any time between 9am and 9.30am. Definitely not before 9am - that would be rude. Anything later than 9.35am would require a text to apologise and say that they were running late.

If I meant 9.15, I would say 9.15.

pinkpjamas1 · 01/11/2024 13:18

Depends who it is but anytime between 09:30 and 10:00 I'd have thought. Most people are busy and nobody likes being early to a kid's party. Why is this in Telly Addicts?

Agreed. But people don't behave like this. Some people don't. Many. Alas.

Pineapplewaves · 01/11/2024 13:21

By 9.30 at the latest.

Grmumpy · 01/11/2024 13:22

9.15

MakeItRain26 · 01/11/2024 13:22

About 9:20-9:25. It sounds like a casual arrangement though so as long as they were with me by about 9:50 I probably wouldn’t worry about it

People don’t behave like this??
Most normal people do, actually.
