If someone said they'd arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 - what time would you expect them?

It would depend on who it was. Most people 9:30ish. Certain friends and family members I’d say 10 at the earliest.

thats not between 9:00 and 9:30 though is it?

maudelovesharold · 01/11/2024 11:15

Just out of interest, why is this on Telly Addicts? Did someone turn up early/late and interrupt your viewing?

SemperIdem · 01/11/2024 11:15

Depends on the person I suppose. I would always expect closer to the later time though.

purpleme12 · 01/11/2024 11:16

I would expect them exactly as it says. Any time between 9 and 9.30?!

redskydarknight · 01/11/2024 11:16

I think it depends a bit how far they are travelling. If they have a 5 minute journey then any time between 9 and 9.30am. If they have a 2 hour journey then I'd expect 8.45-9.45 as it's harder to judge exact times. And they should get in touch if they are delayed more than that.

Comefromaway · 01/11/2024 11:16

I'd expect them not before 9.00am but they would be there by 9.30am at the latest.

Dragonsandcats · 01/11/2024 11:17

Nearer 9.30 but not later.

FoxyMulder · 01/11/2024 11:18

Anytime between 9 and 9.30. Some people I know would be there ore or less at 9 on the dot, others closer to the 9.30 mark. Wouldn't bat an eyelid at either.

Gettingbysomehow · 01/11/2024 11:18

Any time between 9 and 9.30 and not a second before or after.

Thewholeplaceglitters · 01/11/2024 11:19

Between 9 and 9:30.

ohyesido · 01/11/2024 11:20

I'd try and be ready for their arrival by 9 but expect them at 915

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 01/11/2024 11:22

At any point between 9-9:30. I'd assume they were accounting for traffic/public transport or some personal issue that meant they needed a window rather than an exact time (baby naps/feed times or similar).

ParanormalNorman · 01/11/2024 11:23

I'd expect them any time from 9:00 - but wouldn't think them late until about 9:45

Thank God someone asked! I thought I'd missed some exciting TV show that was supposed to start at 9am, but you're all still waiting at 11am.

If I was the visitor I'd be there at 9am, probably sitting outside in the car since 8.45.
If I was expecting someone I'd be looking out the window from 9am, and would be pissed off at 9.31am - sorry! Can't abide lateness.

Reugny · 01/11/2024 11:29

Elzzup · 01/11/2024 11:12

For those saying 9.15? Why? Would you nit just say I'll be there at 9.15 then? Surely it means anytime between 9.00 and 9.30? So arriving at 9.00= acceptable, arriving at 9.30= acceptable?

Transport and/or traffic conditions.

If I said I was arriving between 9-9.30 I would probably be there at the earliest at 8.50 and at the latest 9.10. If it was one of my nephews he would be there at 9.15 and if it was another he would be there at 9.45

Some people work on a different time clock.

If you know they do you always add on time so they arrive roughly at the time you want them to.

So if you know they are always an hour late you tell them the meet up time is an hour earlier.

The issue with though if there is a large group of people and you tell everyone the meet up time is an hour later you will get some who will turn up at the exact time unless you message them individually with some reason why they need to turn up later.

RedToothBrush · 01/11/2024 11:32

It would depend on the individual!

Last night we were supposed to meet someone at 6.
He messaged saying "you said 6.30 right?" at 6.30.
He turned up at 7pm.

This is not unusual for him.

Screamingabdabz · 01/11/2024 11:33

If they said between 9-9.30 I’d expect just that.

After 9.30 I’d be pissed off as I’d assume the earliest given time was what they were aiming for but they were allowing some flexibility.

I am someone who struggles to be on time but if I say I’m going to be somewhere at a certain time I make sure I’m not a dick letting people down.

Screamingabdabz · 01/11/2024 11:33

“Some people work on a different time clock.”

Not a thing.

Spendingtoomuchonfood · 01/11/2024 11:34

Depending on how far they’re travelling and if they have a baby.

Most people between 8.50 and 9.40. My PIL around 10 🙄

That's what I was wondering too!

Violetparis · 01/11/2024 11:37

Between 9.00 and 9.30. Why are you asking ?

WelcomeToMonkeyTown · 01/11/2024 11:37

If someone told me they'd be there 9-9.30 I'd expect them at 9, because that's what I'd do myself I'm having to condition myself out of that though and remind myself that other people aren't as highly strung as me 🙈

I live in Germany and generally I find people are pretty punctual. My daughter had a birthday party recently and I'd put 3pm on the invite. All 12 kids arrived between 3 and 3.05 🤣🤣 And the 3.05 ones were probably only "late" as they were down the garden path waiting for the 3pm arrivals to get their shoes off and get out of the way

I have one "friend" who would turn up at 11 (or not at all) but that's a whole other story.....

Normaja · 01/11/2024 11:38

Depends. Certain people 8.45am. Others, 10.30am with a joke about how "you know how bad I am, HAHAHAH" 😐
