If someone said they'd arrive between 9:00 and 9:30 - what time would you expect them?

What time?

OP posts:
Noidea2024 · 01/11/2024 12:11

Depends who it is. Anyone in my family; about 8.30. My best friend; 10-10.30!

Tbry24 · 01/11/2024 12:11

If it’s me the time on the dot or early sat outside for five minutes. If not I’d call or text. For any family members I have some would probably be 6am and the others 10onwards. Was a nightmare when my child was young.

doodleschnoodle · 01/11/2024 12:12

Any time in that window but I would probably expect the later end just because we tend to do things with people with young kids a lot and we all sometimes get a bit derailed trying to leave the house. If it was going to be much later than 9.30 I'd expect a text, but wouldn't feel aggrieved at 9:35 or something.

MyStylish40s · 01/11/2024 12:13

My sister - 9.30
My mum - 9.50
My friend - 10.30 but she’d text at 10 to tell me she’s going to be late Hmm
My dad when he used to visit - 8.45, which is almost as annoying as someone being late

Me, I get the piss taken out of me for being too punctual, and would be there exactly when I say.

For someone who I don’t know how punctual they are, I would be ready for them at 9, but expect them around 9.20

another1bitestheduck · 01/11/2024 12:14

I'd be ready by 9 but wouldn't consider them late until 9.35.
If it was me arriving I'd aim for about 9.15ish, might be five minutes later but definitely by 9.30.

doodleschnoodle · 01/11/2024 12:14

Why is this in Telly Addicts btw?

yukikata · 01/11/2024 12:15

Between 9 and 9.30.

Helpisonitswaydear · 01/11/2024 12:16

If I had kids in tow, 9.40!

Coralsunset · 01/11/2024 12:16

Between 8:45 and 9:45.

Might be more flexible depending on distance traveled.

What’s your actual issue?

Newterm · 01/11/2024 12:16

Any time before half nine. I can’t stand lateness so if I were waiting to go somewhere I’d be off ten minutes after 9.30 unless there was a good reason.

Retnolds · 01/11/2024 12:16

So, when did they show up?

turkeyboots · 01/11/2024 12:17

9.30 to 9.45. Unless its my mother or sister where they'd roll in whenever suited them, anytime from 8am to 8pm.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 01/11/2024 12:20

My dad would arrive at 9:15
BFF would arrive at 10:30
DP 9:35 but in a mad panic
Me - 9

OccasionalHope · 01/11/2024 12:20

My parents, 10.30.

My brother 9.35.

my Ocado driver either 8.30 or 9.45.

WimbyAce · 01/11/2024 12:23

I would be 930. Mum in law on the other hand would be lurking at 850/855 😂

GoldenLegend · 01/11/2024 12:24

Between 9 and 9.30, like they said.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 01/11/2024 12:26

My dad 8:45 , my brother at least 10. Most people between 9 and 9:30.....

Zenmorning · 01/11/2024 12:34

Anywhere between 9 and 9.30, since that's what they said.

BunnyLake · 01/11/2024 12:36

I’d expect them to arrive anywhere between that time, so could be 9 or 9.30 or anything in between. After 9.30 is late.

Tangled123 · 01/11/2024 12:39

I would take 9pm as the time they wanted to get there but 9:30pm is the time they expect to arrive as they’re allowing time for delays. I would expect there to be more delays than they thought, so really any time up to 10pm. Obviously depends why I’m meeting them though.

DoctorAngelface · 01/11/2024 12:39

With the proviso that I've heard a lot of ETAs in my time, I'd be ready to anticipate them between 8.45 and 10, with the hotspot being between 9 and 9.30.

If I had to guess, I'd say 9.20 arrival.

TammyJones · 01/11/2024 12:39

GoldenLegend · 01/11/2024 12:24

Between 9 and 9.30, like they said.

Yep
What time did they come?

friendconcern · 01/11/2024 12:40

Depends, most people between 9 and 9.30. Mum and dad 8.45, daughter about 10/10.30.

I wouldn’t be annoyed with anything up to 9.45 and with messages / updates anything up to about 10.30 as long as we didn’t have bookings based on a timescale.

But I’d get annoyed with anyone turning up before 9 (other than mum and dad because I know that they always get places 15minutes early).

ItsAMario · 01/11/2024 12:40

Literally any time within that window with up to 15 mins leeway. I’d arrive at 930 personally.

Jazzjazzyjulez · 01/11/2024 12:40

I'm an early person by nature so around 9.05-9.10.

I would class anything after 9.30 to be late.
