I have a real craving. Tbh I have probably tried most of them but posting just in case. Which one is your favourite? Can shop at either Sainsbury’s or M&S

Ds2 loves this (we've brought from Tesco and Coop).
I buy him Aldi basics!

I would love to try this brand but the tubs are huge, would never get my way through it!

Ramona’s but I get the regular one. DH found a small pot in an express Tesco rather than the big one.

Sainsbury sabre houmous extra, so smooth and creamy 😋

bigTillyMint · 25/10/2024 09:22

Ramonas lasts in the fridge for ages!

mikado1 · 25/10/2024 09:23

Honestly it's a 5min job at home. I just got into the habit with a failsafe recipe and won't buy now. Can post it if you like.

Bonbon21 · 25/10/2024 09:23

Try homemade??
Really really simple to make..

Please can you post your recipe? I can’t get it quite right no matter what I try. Thanks.

I gave up making homemade houmous as it always tasted bitter, what am I doing wrong?

My discerning hummus eater here said 'Don't change that Mum!'
I sometimes half it and blitz in some beetroot or roast carrot to make a second one with a different flavour.

Tin of chickpeas, drained- but keep liquid, 1-2 cloves garlic, 4 tblsp lemon juice, 4 tblsp tahini, 4 tablsp olive oil, salt.. zap til smooth, add more garlic or salt to taste. Thin it down with some of the liquid from the chickpeas. Chill in fridge for a couple of hours if possible. Will freeze if you have too much.
You can add cumin etc to taste at any stage.. serve sprinkled with paprika and lemon wedges

Thank you for homemade suggestions but I asked for shop bought recommendations

Sabra for smooth
Ramona's for textured

I've tried making my own so many times and it never tastes as good as bought.

leavesontheground · 25/10/2024 09:47

The Tesco organic one is my favourite

ArabellaFishwife · 25/10/2024 09:49

I like the smooth Sabra one mentioned above, but DS prefers ones with a grainier texture. Caramelised onion is pretty good.as a flavour, wherever you get it from.

And you've been given them 😊 Sabra is the best in my humble opinion.

shiverm · 25/10/2024 09:57

#1 This one! Meze. I have only ever found it in London corner shops but now I'm back in Scotland I long for it. All the flatmates would have their own tub in the fridge it's addictive!

#2 Ramonas is great too (reduced in Morrisons atm... but tbf, price per gram isn't bad)

#3 Homemade with dried chickpeas. It seems likes it's a lot of effort, but felicity cloaks recipe (I'll try link here) is very good and actually not palava. Just soak the peas the day before.

Sainsbury sabre houmous extra, so smooth and creamy 😋

It is, but it's also made in Israel so it depends whether your hummus buying is subject to any purchasing decisions you have made.

CurlewKate · 25/10/2024 09:58

Came on to recomend Ranona's. And to tell you for the love of god never to make Ottolenghi's. It will make all other hummous taste like something from the back of a service station chiller cabinet for ever and ever.

BigCupOfTears · 25/10/2024 10:00

Sabra Hummus or
Yarden Hummus Prestige are delicious both available in Sainsburys Tesco etc
I hate the grainy own brand hummus much prefer the very smooth type.

bifurCAT · 25/10/2024 10:03

Can I hijack this thread slightly and also ask where the best potato salad is? (On the same theme)

Turmerictolly · 25/10/2024 10:05

Waitrose Duchy Organic hummus is nice as is the extra virgin olive oil one.
