I'm done with going out out

I mean to noisy crowded bars, where you have to stand all night. People pushing past you with drinks spilling down your back and treading on your toes. Filthy toilets. The crowd outside afterwards at closing, all trying to get cabs and generally being lairy (sp!).

This is my best friends idea of a great night out. I used to like this but have grown up. I now cannot stand it. We are in our early 50s.

Still like going out but somewhere I can sit all night and chat and hear the conversation and have a decent glass of wine.

Anyone else resonate ?

not sure what to do about my friend who still loves this scene and wants me to go with her all the time.

I stopped going out out when I stopped drinking. It's all designed around alcohol in this country. Was sent to India for a few weeks with work and there was much less of a drinking culture there, so had a great time.

Now I use any excuse

I'm in my 60's and love going out out, but now we do it in the afternoon with all the other over 40's and upwards. Are usually home by 8/9. Have to have a seat now. Can't believe I used to go out at 7 and stand up in heels until 2.

Early 60s here. If the pub is standing room only then no thanks. I like a comfy seat! I go past pubs where they spill out into the street and think no thanks!

I’m late 30s and I still love it! Hope I’m still going out when I’m in my 50s. I love the music and socialising and dancing and I still have the stamina to keep going until closing time. If I was born a bit earlier I know I would of been part of the rave scene in the 90s. I also love going to loud heavy metal gigs!

But if you feel like you’ve had enough OP then that’s fine. Nothing lasts forever unfortunately.

Bloody hell, most peopke have gone off that well before their fifties! Thirties for me and I was well done with that!

I still go out out at fifty. But not in sort of places you're describing. I like going to late night gigs and bars where there is music, dancing and some sitting down! Or the occasional night of raving until dawn with other older (post 30s) crowd.
