Went to IKEA today... hardly any trolleys in the trolley bay .. but just manage to get last one.
I put my walking stick in the trolley.
Needed loo.. went to disabled loo..( l have a stoma). left my trolley outside with my walking stick in.. thinking surely no one will take my trolley.
Comes out of loo and trolley is gone.
Asks the security guy and a member of staff I'd they had seen it/ moved it.. they hadn't.
So l start walking... to look for it..
See a woman in the next section pushing my trolley .. with some items she had put in.
I explain she has my trolley with my walking stick in.
She looks at me like I'm mad but doesn't say a word. Takes out my walking stick and hands it to me.
I say.. " can you please take your items out of my trolley and let me have it back please".
She huffs and puffs.. but doesn't speak. Put her items into her friends trolley and pushes my trolley to me so hard it bangs into me.

Give over! Would you do this? See a trolley outside the disabled loo with a walking stick and just waltz off with it? Too bad, so sad?!

And is everyone missing the part where the trolley was then shoved in to OP?

Ikea Jesus weeps

Your lack of understanding/empathy for the OP doesn't reflect well on you.

There are some medical conditions (including the OP's) that mean you may need to access a toilet with very little warning.

She was clear in the opening post that she picked up the trolley and THEN realised she needed to use the toilet.

She might have been half way round the store - would that have made a difference to you?

The trolley was in use, even if she's not yet put any items in it.

It takes a pretty special kind of douchebag to take a trolley with a walking stick in it from outside a disabled toilet.

Of course it wasn't still your trolley if you just abandoned it outside the lavatories.

Edited

So if you where in a cafe/ restaurant / pub and you left your food/drink on the table to nip to the loo you wouldn't mind coming back and someone being in your seat

So it’s okay for someone to take a trolley that has a disabled person’s walking stick in it, because it’s outside the lavatories????

StSwithinsDay · 22/10/2024 23:11

@TheShellBeach

What? The op was in the toilet. She didn't 'abandon' her trolley. Her walking stick was in it.

The trolley thief was totally in the wrong.

I had this recently in IKEA. Was half way round the marketplace with several items in my trolley. Parked it at end of aisle to get some bits, came back and trolley was gone.

A staff member helped me look for it but said it happens all the time. People forget to get a trolley, can’t be bothered to go back and just take someone else’s!! He found the contents of my trolley dumped on a nearby display. So bloody rude!!

I had a variation on this in a supermarket. I picked up the last rotisserie chicken (not beating anyone else to it either) and put it in my trolley. Walking round the shop getting other stuff, turned away from the trolley for a moment, and somebody swiped the chicken out of it. Didn't see who took it unfortunately.

doodleschnoodle · 22/10/2024 22:45

She thought someone had discarded their walking stick after being magically healed by IKEA Jesus and thought she could maybe take it home with her?

Thanks - I needed a new username!

I can sort of understand that someone might think someone might have accidentally left their stick in a trolley, but surely you’d ask a nearby staff member not just walk off with the trolley?

I wouldn't risk this. Staff may clear the table, thinking someone is finished. Given the speed some tables are cleared, if it's busy, it wouldn't really be that unreasonable for someone to think it's just not been cleared yet and take the table. I'd never leave my food if I'm not done.

Of course it WAS.

it was outside the disabled toilet with her walking stick in it. What sort of a cunt takes it??

BreadInCaptivity · 22/10/2024 23:15

IKEA Jesus was probably busy stuffing meatballs thinking "fuck this - didn't die to save sinners who steal a disabled persons trolley and walking stick. I'm gonna have to tell Dad I'm done saving people with more front than a row of Billy Bookcases".

OK your coat is also on the back of the chair. Do you think that's acceptable for someone to sit in your seat

RafaFan · 22/10/2024 23:17

Never mind the trolley - who steals a walking stick? Didn't it occur to the woman that somebody actually needs the stick?

Seriously?

It had a walking stick in it and was outside the disabled toilet. What kind of utter fuckwit steals a walking aid from a disabled person?

HelpMediegp · 22/10/2024 23:19

They probably thought it was a flat pack chair leg.

Northoftheterritory · 22/10/2024 23:19

I can't believe posters defending the walking stick wanker thief......

IKEA Jesus on the other hand is to be heartily applauded

Ughh you sound like the worst sort of person. Are you quite unlikeable?

Circumferences · 22/10/2024 23:20

If you need a trolley you get it from the usual place - not from outside the disabled toilets! (This isn't even mentioning the walking stick that's already in it).
I'd be mortified if I were with that person.
Poor you.

AutumnLeaves24 · 22/10/2024 23:24

some of there trolley stealer defenders are teachers. That scares me!!

@Oktagrammata are you ok now??

Ydnbu.
Sometimes people are thoughtless and unkind.

Sorry to sidetrack. Is IKEA Jesus dressed in blue & yellow robes?
Blue cross, yellow loin cloth?
Wouldn't he more likely be called something like
Joang Kruist of knackerbodd ?
