Can't believe what happened... was l in the right?

Went to IKEA today... hardly any trolleys in the trolley bay .. but just manage to get last one.
I put my walking stick in the trolley.
Needed loo.. went to disabled loo..( l have a stoma). left my trolley outside with my walking stick in.. thinking surely no one will take my trolley.
Comes out of loo and trolley is gone.
Asks the security guy and a member of staff I'd they had seen it/ moved it.. they hadn't.
So l start walking... to look for it..
See a woman in the next section pushing my trolley .. with some items she had put in.
I explain she has my trolley with my walking stick in.
She looks at me like I'm mad but doesn't say a word. Takes out my walking stick and hands it to me.
I say.. " can you please take your items out of my trolley and let me have it back please".
She huffs and puffs.. but doesn't speak. Put her items into her friends trolley and pushes my trolley to me so hard it bangs into me.

As they're picking on me for supporting the taking of a walking stick when all my posts have been the exact opposite, I thought they could use a little language based help.

What a useful contribution! The hideous selfish and ableist views on this thread are OK but a few grammatical errors in a post are unacceptable.

It could. Unless you know it's there I think it could be easily missed and mistaken for an empty trolley, unless it particularly colourful or chunky or has a big handle. The one my friend uses is plain black and I can see how it could sort of blend in depending on the colour of the trolley or if it was a metal trolley and a silver walking stick.
Of course it doesn't excuse the pushing the trolley and OP being hurt but it is possible that the stealing of the stick was unintentional.

I have spoken out against those views. The poster I was replying to is repeatedly picking on me and accusing me of supporting the taking of a walking stick. All my posts have been the opposite and supported OP. But I guess it's okay to run with repeatedly accusing me of a position that is totally against what I believe and have stated? Ok then.

Maybe if it was lying in the bottom and could blend in, maybe. But even if we allow for that, there's no reason to push the trolley into someone ever.

Ok, have you finished now? Not everyone is educated to your obvious high standard. There are people on this forum who speak, and write English as a second language. Maybe you should bear that in mind, when taking your red pen out.

I usually overlook it as they may have dyslexia for all I know. I just thought this poster deserved it. I won't be engaging with them again though. Waste of time.

And then there was the day I had my sleeping baby in a car seat in my trolley in IKEA and I turned my back to look at something. When I turned round my trolley and baby had vanished. Fortunately I soon caught up with the very surprised and sheepish young man who somehow managed to take my trolley rather than his without noticing the baby and car seat in it!!!

Don't know if this makes a difference.
I'm 72.. the woman that took it.. was in her 30s.

Deserved it. For what exactly saying how low it is to take a walking stick from a disabled person and your response is people shouldn't leave their stuff about as obviously someone is going to take it. I don't believe that most people would steal a disability aide while someone is in a disabled toilet and i dont believe op did anything wrong leaving it their

I think more people have become selfish since Covid. It's what I think I'm seeing anyway. Unless I just haven't noticed before and it somehow just seems more obvious.

In all fairness I’ve been back through this thread and none of her comments were against the OP. She said that regardless of whether the trolley was abandoned or not there is never any excuse to push a trolley into someone. That was her first post, you responded for some reason with the cafe scenario.

Not sure if you accidentally quoted the wrong person there but it does seem odd how you quoted her saying that when she didn’t say anything to defend the trolley thief. The only thing she said is that wasn’t in keeping with your view is that she wouldn’t leave her food unguarded which isn’t abnormal because lots of people wouldn’t as generally speaking it’s considered unsafe to leave food and drink unattended in a public place.

I’m happy to be recorrected but if you go back the first interaction with her is actually you arguing with her and not the other way around. It doesn’t excuse the fact that this poster has been going around sniping you for your grammatical errors though.

Yes, you have comprehended perfectly. The fact I don't trust people enough to leave things lying around doesn't mean other people shouldn't. Or that a trolley outside a toilet would logically be being used by someone inside there, so should be left. Especially with a needed mobility aid inside it.

Yeah that's annoying but derailing with grammar corrections doesn't help.
