Went to IKEA today... hardly any trolleys in the trolley bay .. but just manage to get last one.
I put my walking stick in the trolley.
Needed loo.. went to disabled loo..( l have a stoma). left my trolley outside with my walking stick in.. thinking surely no one will take my trolley.
Comes out of loo and trolley is gone.
Asks the security guy and a member of staff I'd they had seen it/ moved it.. they hadn't.
So l start walking... to look for it..
See a woman in the next section pushing my trolley .. with some items she had put in.
I explain she has my trolley with my walking stick in.
She looks at me like I'm mad but doesn't say a word. Takes out my walking stick and hands it to me.
I say.. " can you please take your items out of my trolley and let me have it back please".
She huffs and puffs.. but doesn't speak. Put her items into her friends trolley and pushes my trolley to me so hard it bangs into me.

Think the fact that it was outside a DISABLED loo with a waking stick in it should have given normal people the hint tha it was being used by someone

This.

I actually can't people there are people siding with the trolley thief. Can only assume they have same selfish attitude.

💯 lots of entitled people these days. Worse post Covid. Dog eat dog. Sad times.

But that's you and your choice. It does not give you or others the right to take things from others. We learn this at 2

Edited

I have no idea why you are trying to nag me about this. I have never said anything about having the right to take anything. So ... ? Weird.

Apologise for what? Giving the person the benefit of the doubt, means that, from their perspective, they're just using a trolley the OP has forgotten her walking stick was in. What is there to apologise for?

In spite of that, they've acquiesced to the OP's demand that she has some kind of supreme right to this ikea trolley and returned it to her (OP's own words "pushes my trolley to me"), in so doing OP gets knocked by the trolley, it's hardly proof of intent.

If I genuinely thought that the trolley had been abandoned with a walking stick in it (which wouldn't be outside a disabled toilet with someone in it), I would take the walking stick to customer services and hand it in before starting my shopping.

Never mind the trolley - who steals a walking stick? Didn't it occur to the woman that somebody actually needs the stick?

Yes. And this. Unreal. I want to move to a little Greek island 😆

@Brefugee well that's true...

She was a cheeky bitch. Glad you stood your ground.

Switcher · 23/10/2024 09:18

Can only hope the people defending this appalling behaviour are in fact random 12 year olds.

Absolutely this is what I would do as well, my first thought wouldn’t be take the trolley it would be get said stick back to its owner!

Cannot believe the amount of people on this thread who are siding with the lady who took the trolley. Sadly sums up a lot of people’s attitudes towards those less able bodied

ludocris · 23/10/2024 09:20

@Squeezetheday I don't doubt that some of these people are also ableist, but I think most of them saying the OP WBU aren't even bothered about that, they're just being provocative out of boredom.

Bogginsthe3rd · 23/10/2024 07:14

Do you often try to claim items with a walking stick OP? Unless the trolley had a lampshade, cushion and a couple of meatballs on it it's likely they thought that it was free and as a bonus had saved them a trip to the walking stick sectiön. I think you would have come across as very rude.

Well thankfully on this thread your hideous views are in the minority.

This thread really has brought out some gobsmackingly unpleasant posters.

Absolutely, a veritable cavalcade of cunts.

This is really what you got from this thread your sticking up for a person taking a walking stick from a disabled person that's OK but my spelling isn't

thepariscrimefiles · 23/10/2024 09:29

PennyApril54 · 23/10/2024 08:30

Is there any chance she didn't see the walking stick? I suppose sometimes they do kind of blend in. Might explain why she looked so baffled when you asked for it back?

How can a walking stick blend into an empty trolley?

femfemlicious · 23/10/2024 09:29

The ikea near us close down. My kids and I miss it sooooooo much 💔

I didn't hog it.
I wheeled it from the trolley park in the car park.

You could argue that if the person needs to use a walking stick why have they left it in the trolley?

When it's left right outside an occuped disabled toilet? You could I suppose, but it would make you a bit of an ableist twat.

Greydayswithoutfags · 23/10/2024 09:37

You could if you are totally ignorant about disability, yeah.

Yeah this

It's honestly depressing that so many people think like this.

Jk987 · 23/10/2024 09:38

TheShellBeach · 22/10/2024 22:38

Of course it wasn't still your trolley if you just abandoned it outside the lavatories.

Edited

Thanks for owning up!

thepariscrimefiles · 23/10/2024 09:39

Ginnnny · 23/10/2024 08:48

Sorry, OP, but it's not really your trolley and asking her to take her items out of the trolley and give it to you is rude. I'd have given you your stick and walked off.

What a hideous comment. Stealing a trolley with a walking stick in it from outside an occupied disabled toilet isn't rude, but getting the trolley and walking stick back is?

Oktagrammata · 23/10/2024 09:40

Right.
Everyone parks their trolley near the cafe while they go eat.
Do you people that thinks l just left my trolley for anyone to take because it was outside the disabled toilet.
Do people take the trolleys from the cafe park while people are eating?
What's the difference?
You don't take someone else's trolley.
There was a shortage in the car park l used.
I was lucky to get it .
I walked into the store with it.
My walking stick and a yellow IKEA bag in it.
