For me, it’s having my TV mounted to our chimney breast. I know that it’s a faux pas on here 😏

Bedding doesn't get washed weekly

teatoast8 · 23/10/2024 13:28

And I don't care about UPF

Theonlywayisuptoyou · 23/10/2024 14:01

I can’t drive
i have a job where I can’t WFH even during Covid times and I’m happy with that. I think folk who moan about having to go into their office once a week/ month whatever, have a cheek as when they go to a shop/school/hospital they expect those staff to be there.
I don’t care if they add VAT to school fees.
I use my tumble drier or heated airer for everything I took my whirly out of the garden to give us more play space.

It’s only on Mn that people seem to - no one mentions it in real life

@Fizbosshoes did you not know you'll catch your death of cold. That's a cast iron certainly according to my mom. Almost certain death from A Chill. Possibly on your kidneys!

Oh yes, my mother-in-law had brainwashed her son into this "catch a chill" thing. He even now, at almost 60, believes you can get "cold in your kidneys" almost instantly from chilly bedsheets...🙄

If she's over 10 this is a crime on multiple levels!

I send postcards not only from abroad, but even from day trips.

sammylady37 · 23/10/2024 15:05

I don’t ask guests to take off their shoes indoors
I don’t often eat salads
I eat carbs. A lot.
I eat chocolate daily
I enjoy casual sex and have a few casual sex partners
I have male friends whose wives/partners are not threatened by my existence
I earn a high salary but don’t boast about it
I live alone and do not feel I need a relationship
I don’t have and don’t want children
I have multiple toilet brushes
I am efficient and can make an appointment/renew insurance/remember a birthday without thinking it’s some onorous task that requires significant time and brain power

sooooo many!

Forgive me MN for I have sinned….

I took my husbands name. The children have my husbands name. I have a joint bank account with my husband. I was a SAHM (totally dependant on DH) until youngest DC went to secondary school. I like Pandora jewellery. I like Radley handbags. I liked my late MIL. I could live without my DC but not without my DH. I drink (not to excess but definitely more than a thimble of sherry on celebrations). There’s probably more 😂

All of the above and I'd include DGC too! 🤣

ForPearlViper · 23/10/2024 15:38

I'm just over 60 and don't have dementia (yet).

I don't put every random symptom down to menopause.
I talk to strangers.
I'm nice to staff in retail and hospitality.
If want something I politely ask for it - I figure if the people serving could read minds they'd probably be touring the clubs not working in a cafe.
I rarely come across people who are rude to me. If they are I usually let it go by thinking they are probably having a bad day.

I don't have a cleaner but if I did I would not think she/he was stealing from me. I do not think, in general, that people who do cleaning jobs are any less intelligent or honest than myself.
I think that HR have better things to do than sort out disputes relating to fridges.
I have never logged anything with 101 just in case.

I am a great believe in Occam's Razor so I think it is relatively unlikely you have a man living in your loft or in your walls.
I don't think a bit of a rash warrants a trip to A&E just because it was a sign of a rare cancer in your uncle's barber's mechanic's sister. I think it could probably wait until you get a GP appointment.

I have never drawn a diagram of someone's allegedly unreasonable parking to share on the internet.
I am capable of googling things myself rather than asking strangers on the internet 'is there a product that does this incredibly simple thing' when most retailers are bristling with said products.

I do not wonder if I am the only person out of the billions of people on this planet who 'thinks this' or 'does this'.
I have spat my tea out on my keyboard in response to hilarity on a forum.

Actually, reading this back, I'm wondering if I should try to be more interesting.

I judge bad grammar.

I joined mumsnet to judge bad grammar!

It was allowed expected back then.

ForPearlViper · 23/10/2024 16:07

Pedants and mistake warriors - clearly I've missed out a never in my post. I'll leave it for you to work out where!

WhitneyBaby · 23/10/2024 16:10

I know how to use Google images and don’t need to post ‘ help me find this dress/bag/pair of boots’.

WhimsicalGubbins76 · 23/10/2024 16:17

literally so many.
I didn’t send my kids to private school, because I think it’s a ridiculous expense, and I don’t want them growing up to be snobs.
I don’t try to make myself appear rich.
I have loo brushes
I loved my MIL, genuinely.
Was a stay at home mum until DC started reception
Took my husbands name, we all have the same name
Every bedroom in the house has a tv, as does the conservatory
My husband pays all the household bills, sorts the cars and mobile phones, I pay for food shopping and all the bits and bobs
I do all the cooking, cleaning and ironing. No modern household here

  • I bleach the fuck out of everything
  • I'm not my step kids biggest fan
  • my DS vapes and I don't nag him about it
  • I like getting pissed

Why is bleach bad now?

And piles from sitting on a wall / kerb?

and what About chilblains from putting your cold hands on a warm radiator?

You’re basically dicing with certain death doing any of those things…

Wore off-white to a wedding, albeit with red accessories, long before I knew it wasn't permitted.

Wore a cream shift dress to my best friend’s wedding, we’re still friends because I didn’t look anything like a bride.

tuvamoodyson · 23/10/2024 16:32

My father gave me away at my wedding 😲 but I counteracted that by keeping my maiden name (yes! maiden name!) 😊

songaboutjam · 23/10/2024 16:34

I like scented candles.

I consider failure a healthy and expected part of childhood.

I don't have any problem with religion, not even public displays of faith (as long as they don't endanger or inconvenience the public).

I don't like any dog bigger than a spaniel.

Edited

It's not about "looking like a bride". White and cream are the bride's privilege. Fine if you want to wear that, but there are loads of other colours and patterns to wear and it's just a bit more considerate. However, it sounds as if she was ok, but I'd always check, out of courtesy.

BeatrizBoniface · 23/10/2024 16:38

The alternative to a toilet brush is too horrible to contemplate 🤢

PrimitivePerson · 23/10/2024 16:47

I don't worship the ground J.K. Rowling walks on. Whatever the rights and wrongs of what she says are, she's contemptuous and hostile towards a lot of people, and has stirred up considerable ill feeling for no good reason. I also think she's about the most overhyped writer in history and her success is 99.9% luck.
