For me, it’s having my TV mounted to our chimney breast. I know that it’s a faux pas on here 😏

OP posts:
Andthesky · 23/10/2024 10:04

Found another one...
I never took my kids out the car to pay for petrol

DinahSlade · 23/10/2024 10:09

camelfinger · 22/10/2024 21:05

I get on ok with my parents. They’re not “lovely” nor am I NC with them.

Love this. Why is it always one or other on here?

DinahSlade · 23/10/2024 10:16

I don't feel offended when out with my children and strangers say I've got my hands full. I do feel offended when strangers sympathise with my DD for having all brothers.
I married a short, working-class man. He's wonderful.
I have never used zoflora.
I think its fine to have people over and the house not be pristine.
I don't agree with abortion after 12 weeks, multiple abortions, abortion when woman is in a loving marriage and can afford it, no health concerns etc.

Startingagainandagain · 23/10/2024 10:22

I am not a high earner

I have long term health conditions and work part-time from home and receive PIP (WFH and being disabled get a lot of hate here...)

I like dogs

I do have a toilet brush

I don't own a car

My house is not worth a million

I get on with my neighbours

I don't spend my life obsessing about trans issues.

MoonWoman69 · 23/10/2024 07:48

Aww, with pleasure! They're 6 months old now, so you can't get them in the same place at the same time, but here's when I could!
(Sorry, not exactly the best picture! Suki on the right, Sabre on the left)

Edited

I love the kittens but the blanket would freak me out
DD has some socks with embroidered bees on them I nearly have a heart attack every time i do washing, thinking it's a big spider at a quick glance

DinahSlade · 23/10/2024 10:33

I don't always make my bed because I have babies and toddlers and we often get back in during the day.

I don't insist guests take their shoes off in the house, although I would prefer they did and I always do at others houses. But I would never demand it. For some elderly its an ordeal to get shoes on and off and for others (the vicar), it would feel inappropriate.

One of my children has a top twenty name and another has a name that isn't even in the top 300/400 (don't know exactly).

My kitchen isn't always gleaming, it's a busy, working kitchen.

My walls are mostly white/often white.

I quite like chintz.

I don't care if I look my age. I think 99% people do, they just don't realise it.

I don't have heaps of spare cash but I have never considered taking in ironing to make my fortune.

I wouldn't even notice if someone put something in my bin.

My kids have never read David Walliams/wimpy kid/dork diaries etc - I told them they are written for imbeciles and they believed me.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/10/2024 10:38

I continue to emotionally support my dc after they turn 18

DollyTubb · 23/10/2024 10:40

Possibly on a par with being a man but...
I'm a Baby Boomer!
There, said it!
I'm also very happily retired.
Have a full complement of loo brushes plus spares. And would use bleach but we have a septic tank.
Love my skinny jeans
Leave washing out at night
I adore my husband and all my rellies
Our sofa is over 25 years old and we aren't going to change it

DinahSlade · 23/10/2024 10:41

Oh and my house has a number, not a name. Quite a high number too - very common according to MN.

Threewheeler1 · 23/10/2024 10:43

I don't have a 'best feature' to emphasise physically and am always left confused by what suits me. I have no style and am very forgettable generally.
I wish invisibility was a real thing.
I'm not particularly good at anything, totally devoid of ambition (other than getting through without total disaster) and just happy if I get hobby time (which is probably the only time I'm ever happy).
I think I would have been brilliant working on a production line. Especially if I could be invisible.
I'm not a pushy parent, I just want DS's to focus on taking care of the basics in life, be sensible, good to people around them, stay out of trouble, do something they really enjoy and be content with what they have. That would feel like a massive success.
I like a 'small' life day to day, because I think the amount of stuff we're supposed to own/maintain/get involved in/care about/be responsible for, especially in middle age, can be overwhelming. It's taken me years to learn to opt out (where possible) so I do it a lot now 😬

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/10/2024 10:57

I have four cats - but only one litter tray, we don't have pet insurance and sometimes they stay out at night.
I have elderly loo brushes and we sometimes use bleach.
I have a recently decorated living room painted grey, with a big TV on one wall -and I love it 😁.
I look forward to the phone ringing or the door being knocked and always answer.
I wouldn't consider NOT taking in a parcel for our neighbours.
I don't care if a workman uses our loo.
I'm perfectly happy to share my hobby (sing in a church choir) as it really isn't 'outing'
I'm a boomer as well.
I'm afraid I'm male too.

I think I'll be drummed out of MN for these sins.

all of those except no septic tank and I am now widowed.

memoriesofamiga · 23/10/2024 11:00

I'm a step parent (cardinal sin in itself) but I also follow the Nacho method - my position with DP's kids is that of a friendly adult, I'm not here to parent them. They have two fully functioning actual parents more than capable of that.

RampantIvy · 23/10/2024 11:07

Same here. Although, as it is common practice where we live, everyone takes their shoes off anyway.

I continue to emotionally support my dc after they turn 18

So do I. Why wouldn't you?

I'm not a high earner and I love my job.
I'm friends with my neighbours. In fact, I have just offered to get in a few essentials for one for when they get back from holiday.

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 23/10/2024 11:13

Not a high earner.
Wear skinny jeans
Don't wear shapeless, beige dresses

Don't use retinol or what ever else people put on their face, don't have botox and at 46 look like I'm in my 30s(its not just people being nice). This is down to good genes (my parents also don't look their age).

Oh and I have empathy and compassion for others.

GettingStuffed · 23/10/2024 11:21

I loved my MiL and love my children's spouses. I don't shower every day. I don't drive either.

CalicoPusscat · 23/10/2024 11:28

I wouldn't know where to start

PyreneanAubrie · 23/10/2024 11:33

I thought of more:

I don't drive and we only have one (old tatty) car.

I wear Toast and Seasalt; sometimes both together 😱

I dry the washing outside (even the undies) 😁

SerafinasGoose · 23/10/2024 11:46

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 22/10/2024 20:36

I don't know. Not giving a shit what is and is not considered a mumsnet sin maybe?

This. Coupled with the recognition that no website, especially one of this size, is a hive mind and that most of the 'sins' raised on this thread are topics of consternation amongst its members in any case.

Who gives two shits whether people do or don't answer the door in their own homes?

BitOutOfPractice · 23/10/2024 11:58

I’ve only found out on this thread that lower lash mascara is indeed a mortal sin 😱

BigDahliaFan · 23/10/2024 12:04

I like my MIL and hang out with my DH's ex wife.

Dontcallmescarface · 23/10/2024 12:12

became DSD's primary caregiver when me and her dad divorced.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 22/10/2024 19:08

🤣 never heard of a spider willie

Haven't you heard? The spiders drag their willies all over your clothes if you leave washing on the line overnight😱😱😱

BitOutOfPractice · 23/10/2024 11:58

I didn't realise that going out with wet hair was a big no-no until I joined MN.
I still do, and risk people thinking I'm having a breakdown or whatever its meant to signify!

BitOutOfPractice · 23/10/2024 13:25

@Fizbosshoes did you not know you'll catch your death of cold. That's a cast iron certainly according to my mom. Almost certain death from A Chill. Possibly on your kidneys!
