Ever rewatched a series and realised you dislike a character?

Maybe a character you liked originally or were indifferent to? I'm rewatching Dexter and, omfg, Debra is so damn annoying and pathetic, not to mention bad at her job!

Susan from Desperate Housewives. I think we were supposed to find her ditzyness and constant escapades charming, but she acts like a 15 year old, makes terrible decisions and uses her teenage daughter as a therapist. I can't stand her!

Lynette is also really annoying, and her children are dreadful. I know we're supposed to hate her childfree boss but Lynette changing her toddler's nappy in her job interview after promising that her kids won't affect her work at all justifies all of her behaviour, frankly.

I think a lot of 90s/early 00s TV really hasn't aged well!

Brida from
The Last Kingdom. I'm just rewatching it. By the middle of it she becomes annoying and shrill and you wish she would just give over and accept peace between Saxon and Dane instead of banging on and waging war all the time.

Realised I disliked her the first time round!

Oh I love Tom from desperate housewives. Hate Carrie from. Satc tho

Bloom15 · 22/10/2024 18:06

Carrie from SATC - she is an awful friend

Healingsfall · 22/10/2024 18:09

Grace from Will and Grace. He was annoying too but Grace really thought she was hilarious. Karen and Jack made that series, without them the show would have flopped!

I quite like rewatching shows I watched when I was much younger, time and life experience gives you such a different perspective.

Although I had no issue with the Doctor in Call the Midwife or Shelagh until I stated reading the CTM threads on here and suddenly seeing all these minor annoyances that had washed over me previously.

What CTM threads?! Oh no what have I missed?!

They run in the tv section when CTM is on.

Haven't read the full thread but agree with Carrie Bradshaw.

Rory Gilmore for me - she's the villan of that whole show!

A SATC rewatch is definitely profoundly disappointing for two reasons; one being how badly it's aged and how clunky and tone-deaf it is, and the second being what an unholy nightmare Carrie Bradshaw is.

Also agree that Xander on Buffy and Ross Geller are both controlling dick bags, and in fact both from the same mould: the "geeky" guy (and Xander somehow got tagged with geeky even though he isn't very bright and doesn't particularly have geeky interests) that must be a good guy because he isn't stereotypically masculine and isn't popular with women.
