Do children still go trickle treating?

Moved house since last Halloween and now living on an estate. No kids myself but don't know if kids still go trickle treating at strangers houses? Happy to decorate and get sweets in

Never heard of trickle treating.

CatamaranViper · 14/10/2024 19:06

Trick or treating.
Yes they do

Lilifer · 14/10/2024 19:06

Trick or treating maybe?

PinotPony · 14/10/2024 19:06

The kids in our Close still go trick or treating. But they go as a group with adult supervision and only knock on doors with pumpkins or decorations out.

Waterboatlass · 14/10/2024 19:06

Trickle treating? As in a steady trickle of guisers coming to the door?

TrickyD · 14/10/2024 19:08

I’ve heard of Trick or Treating. No trickling involved.

hexsnidgett · 14/10/2024 19:08

God people can be mean. It's obviously a typo. Where I live trick or treating goes on. If you would like kids to knock then decorate, if not, they will most likely leave you alone.

They still do, although thankfully mine are now in their twenties so it has been many years since I was obliged to participate in trick or treating.

If you don't want to participate then don't put a pumpkin or lantern out and keep front lights turned off. That's what I do now, and nobody knocks. If they did I would ignore it.

mumstheword223 · 14/10/2024 19:08

Trickle treating 🤣🤣🤣 that's what I used to call it when I was younger.

Last year we had maybe one knock on the door.

BobbyBiscuits · 14/10/2024 19:09

Maybe we should do trickle treating. Like give them one sweet and tell them to come back in an hour for another one? 🤣

Singleandproud · 14/10/2024 19:09

Yes, around here children go to decorated houses. No pumpkins, no visitors is the aim.

DangerMouseAndPenfoldx · 14/10/2024 19:10

Yes, they still do Trick or Treat here. Like others have said, they will only knock on the door if lights are on and you have decorated.

Jifmicroliquid · 14/10/2024 19:10

Do you also say Chester Drawers…?

Sillysausage76 · 14/10/2024 19:10

Very big round here, but only if houses have pumpkins or similar out. Starts about 5 till 8 here.

Mine do! (Trick or treating, anyway)

Aged 5 and 10. 10 year old still very keen on dressing up and doing the whole thing, although she likes to go round our little estate with a friend instead of with us these days. The youngest goes round with us and we happen to bump into the big one a few times, entirely coincidentally 😉 of course.

soupfiend · 14/10/2024 19:11

What about tickle treating?

ooer missus!

mumstheword223 · 14/10/2024 19:12

We have loads of trick or treaters every year where we are! But we do live on a new build estate with lots of families, at least every other house have kids, so I’d expect that!

LadyGrey33 · 14/10/2024 19:13

Me and my sister used to call it trickle treating 😂😂

Tattletail · 14/10/2024 19:13

Yes but the general consensus these days is children will go to the houses that are decorated and leave the undecorated houses alone in peace.
