So the new leader of the tory party will be a woman that wants to cut maternity pay who loves the culture war rubbish and Robert who painted over a cartoon in an immigration centre. Who wants us out kf the echr because who need human rights lol
The conservative party is now like the reform party them two are very much to the right of the party
So with that choice I can't see tories getting back in in 5 years time. Most people are on the centre doesn't bother me as I loath tories but we do need an opposition

@titchy , it never ceases to amaze me how misunderstood the Conservative mindset is by those on the left. Kemi is hugely popular with the party faithful. I really hope she wins and if she does just watch her wipe the floor with two tier Keir at PMQs 😂. In any case we will have a proper Conservative as leader whoever wins. 🎉🎉🎉

The one who hacked another MPs computer ?
So ‘honest’ bob Jenrick v anti woman Badenoch ? Can’t wait.

Fairslice · 09/10/2024 19:01

I think Kemi will win, the party faithful love her.

Come on Lib Dems!

Awful Tory leader, worrying and depressing Labour government.

tobee · 09/10/2024 19:13

The Conservative Party faithful are not really very similar to the voting electorate. To think otherwise is to live in a dream world.

For a kick off, they're not even that faithful if they go off and vote reform in a great big huff.

The gift that keeps on giving, absolutely hilarious.

SideEyeSal · 09/10/2024 19:22

@Hunnymonster1 If you genuinely believe Starmer is competent, I suggest you watch PMQs. I know this can be levelled at many politicians but my goodness the man is utterly incapable of answering a question. Blaming the tories seems to be his popular go-to when he is incapable of forming a coherent response. It's embarrassing.

AgnesX · 09/10/2024 19:24

Between a rock and a hard place. Hopefully someone will throw Kemi under a bus. Metaphorically speaking.

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2024 19:26

Not a fan of the current government, but the conservatives blamed labour for many things for 14 years , so maybe the 'blame game ' is their way of getting their own back!
Politics is a funny business.

FelixtheAardvark · 09/10/2024 19:27

After the last 14 years, the last thing this country needs is "a proper Conservative".

bombastix · 09/10/2024 19:28

It is definitely a business. I would like to know of a PM of any political party who ever answered a question in a way that was clear!

Because they r to blame for the last 14 years and don't forget it. He way this country is crumbling is because kf them and that fact is gonna take a long time to sort it he's not saying anything that isn't true. They the tories want to push it away but no they don't get a free pass atm . Starmer is gonna have to sort out alot of broken stuff

SideEyeSal · 09/10/2024 19:41

@Hunnymonster1 He doesn't say much at all, that's the problem! He's so used to slinging mud that's all he's capable of. I cannot tell you anything the man stands for, no mind of his own, no ability to debate. He comes across as a spineless coward. Labour need new leadership as soon as possible.

Fairslice · 09/10/2024 19:43

Keir Starmer is giving me piss up/brewery vibes.

ilovesooty · 09/10/2024 19:56

I think both Badenoch and Jenrick are pretty unpleasant and I'd be surprised if either of them would appeal to voters enough to win an election for the Tories.

HughJarz · 09/10/2024 19:58

sorrythetruthhurts · 09/10/2024 17:52

you've had endless Conservative leaders, surprised Boris Johnson's dog hasn't been in the running yet because they'll be running out of humans soon.

I think the dog might be a better choice, to be honest.

CurrentHun · 09/10/2024 20:01

Seriously they are both awful. I thought the Tories would want to get re elected? Maybe they don’t and because there is still so much in-fighting they will just have one of these two in as a placeholder while they wring their hands and backstab over what to do about Reform. I don’t vote for the Tories but we always need an effective opposition and neither of these two choices have the makings of being able to create that.

RockyRogue1001 · 09/10/2024 20:05

Hahahaha.
I love watching them implode.

@NashvilleQueen I loved your post so much.
Thank you

I reckon Kemi will win, and I think the Tories will get back in quite quickly next time with her. Unless some scandal comes out that rocks rhe boat over the next few years.

She is a firm favourite with female centre/centre right voters, seems generally sensible and calls out the media in an accountable way when she is mirepresented.

I know people who have worked with her and she's supposedly very intelligent, fair and decent enough. Which unsettles me a bit, as I wont vote Tory just as much as I wouldn't vote Labour. But I can see myself having a wobble if she was Leader as she's generally centrist.

Those that think generally centrist views are to the 'right' maybe need to realign their scales a little bit. Being sensible and understanding the long game shouldn't be seen as some sort of extreme view point just because of the colour of their tie.

The Electorate voted with their feet and went for Nigel. I wouldn't feel so secure in your convictions. The Tories will be back pretty quickly, I fear.

User135644 · 09/10/2024 20:57

The members will go for the white man. Jenrick has gone full Farage in this campaign.

Farage won't be happy as it takes the wind out of his sails a bit in parliament.

There are no proper Conservatives, hasn't been for a while.

They just go the way the wind blows. They'll do anything for power, whether it's Cameron's faux-liberalism or Johnson's populism. Both empty vessels but they won.

Trust was the ideologue but she was a chameleon herself. The ex-Lib Dem Remain voter.

Remind me who the last Tory leader to answer a question without lying or deflecting was?

Redlocks28 · 09/10/2024 21:03

I hope Kemi gets in-she’s so dreadful, it will be Tory oblivion with her at the helm.

She has the most bizarre ideas, I mean, who needs maternity leave or teaching assistants?!

Papyrophile · 09/10/2024 21:13

I am despairing. We are left with the idiots to choose between. I don't like either Kemi or Jenrich and would have preferred either Tugendhat (first choice) or Cleverly.

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2024 21:14

I had a bet with Dh that Cleverly wouldn't win this. Money is still on Kemi

Yes. The idea that Badenoch is much better than Truss is an interesting one. I think you’ll find they are cut from the same cloth, and have largely the same support.

Buyer beware
