So the new leader of the tory party will be a woman that wants to cut maternity pay who loves the culture war rubbish and Robert who painted over a cartoon in an immigration centre. Who wants us out kf the echr because who need human rights lol
The conservative party is now like the reform party them two are very much to the right of the party
So with that choice I can't see tories getting back in in 5 years time. Most people are on the centre doesn't bother me as I loath tories but we do need an opposition

I proudly voted Reform. 😁 but will vote Conservative again when we have a Conservative leader again. Can’t wait!

you've had endless Conservative leaders, surprised Boris Johnson's dog hasn't been in the running yet because they'll be running out of humans soon.

@titchy , it never ceases to amaze me how misunderstood the Conservative mindset is by those on the left. Kemi is hugely popular with the party faithful. I really hope she wins and if she does just watch her wipe the floor with two tier Keir at PMQs 😂. In any case we will have a proper Conservative as leader whoever wins. 🎉🎉🎉

Yes… except that the British people have just had an election where they rejected a lot of the views that she stands for.

So who is wrong? The Tory Party or the actual voters? You talk about our democracy like it’s a game. That is part of the reason the Labour Party won!

Hunnymonster1 · 09/10/2024 17:53

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 09/10/2024 17:52

@Hunnymonster1 , I have no ‘mates’ that riot and as always people who vote differently to those on the right completely misunderstand us.

The use of two tier kier came from that time

@sorrythetruthhurts , yes the Conservatives have been in a mess for a while.

Great. A Tory party heading into the wilderness. A Labour victory in 5 years time.

Cattenberg · 09/10/2024 17:54

LetThereBeLove · 09/10/2024 17:41

Conservative party members have a death wish.

This. They really don’t want to win the next election, do they?

HandDefence · 09/10/2024 17:57

Comedycook · 09/10/2024 17:32

I think so too.

I hope so

tobee · 09/10/2024 18:02

All the very best to them! As we all know that this is very much a hard right country and not centrist moderate at allHmm

LlynTegid · 09/10/2024 18:06

Choice in the dictionary definition only. I am not sure who will win, but there is always an outside chance one of them could become Prime Minister if the Reform vote reduces in places where the Tory came second in July, and the current government remains unpopular.

The remote possibility is there that the Tories turn to Mr Johnson and want him back, slightly less remote with either of these as leader.

SideEyeSal · 09/10/2024 18:07

Maternity comments aside, I quite like Kemi and hope she wins.

Who knows who will win the next election but if Starmer carries on the way he has been, there certainly won't be a continuation of a Labour government.

Bignanna · 09/10/2024 18:10

Think Kemi is a bit of a loose cannon, so will be surprised if she wins. James Cleverly seemed far more suitable, more gravitas, dignity, articulate, and a natural leader. I can’t see Kemi as a leader.

Echobelly · 09/10/2024 18:11

I agree with people who are saying whoever wins is just keeping the seat warm for Farage who won't want to do it and didn't plan to, honest, but his country needs him to join the Conservatives and lead them. 😬

This has just been said on lbc with tom swarbrick

Pippa Crear just tweeted that a Labour MP messaged her to ask if the gift of Badenoch and Jenrick in the final two needed to be declared by Labour ...

Two truly appalling people neither of whom can unite a party.

ThePoshUns · 09/10/2024 18:16

Well with either of them at the helm the Tories will be spending a long time in opposition.

The same party that has had an Asian prime minister?

The party members didn't vote for him in his leadership contest. He came second to Liz Truss.

Bull shit labour are doing well really but like the stories that the right wing press are making up is telling. Rhe non story about taylor swift and police when she was nearly attacked in austria a week before at a concert by a terrorist. The same right wing press try to make it out that the government giving back that piece of land to the island was wrong when Biden and America actually said to us to do that, and it's been explained that they want to keep an eye on airfield, but it's just gone back to the people. That's nothing to do with the Falkland or Gibraltar, but yet the right ring press in this country was making it out that actually Starmer didn't get permission or anything like that from america, but we did.
So alot of shit has been thrown at starmer and wrongly blamed

A lot of the right wing press have actually been blaming James Cleverly for the Chagos deal.

That aside, I don’t think anyone, even the Labour Party, thinks Starmer has made a great start.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 09/10/2024 18:29

Hunnymonster1 · 09/10/2024 17:30

Even if they do that mass of voters that like reform won't like her really because as you say they are racist. I think this will split that side of the vote now in 5 years time

Edited

@Hunnymonster1 , this is laughable! I’m not racist nor are the many people I know who voted Reform. 🙄

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2024 18:33

Lots of people are mentioning reform
I think they could possibly do a lot of damage to the two main parties in the next election.
People are just fed up with all of them.
The conservatives will have to go further to the right to hold them at bay ( again, only my opinion based on what I hear at work etc)

bombastix · 09/10/2024 18:35

I reckon Reform will do well whoever is elected. Neither candidate can ever beat their right wing populism - they won’t ever pick up moderate votes. Good news for Labour, Lib Dem and Greens.

Yes same here, she came across likeable when adovcating for women rights.

However, I can see further party division. James Cleverly may have been a better fit.

InterestQ · 09/10/2024 18:52

This country naturally votes in the centre. It’s how Starmer won, by getting it back to the centre. The Tories were crap, and if they lurch to the right, Labour can inch their way back to the left. Whoever is closest to the centre will win the next GE. Badenoch is not a likeable woman - the Guardian said she appears to like no one, including herself and never a truer description have I read.

Jenrick is not great either but I agree with why the Disney stuff was painted over. There are many many men of fighting age pretending to be under 16 in their asylum claims and we don’t need to greet them with a Disney wall.

FiveFoxes · 09/10/2024 18:59

Kemi reminds me of Liz Truss. Therefore I think the membership will vote for her. She'll be a disaster. Luckily she can't cause economic damage currently.

I don't understand why Conservatives can't understand that they need to get back to the centre to win a GE. Crazy fools. I think some MPs were trying to get RJ Vs JC on the ballot and made a mistake in their calculations...
