I eat it nearly every day at the moment! Is it a normal breakfast or lunch for you?

Avocado - about 80p, decent toast 15p a slice (at home)
Take out coffee -about £3.50

So £4.45 for breakfast X 365 days a year = £1625 a year

Home made coffee & porridge (my weekday breakfast) about 25p X 365 = £92.

Leaving £1530 for a holiday or to add to a house deposit. Most save for 5 years for a deposit so that's £7,500 per person, extra saving.

Not an unreasonable argument.

So some people have Ava ado on toast and a take away coffee every single day?

That sounds extreme.

I couldn't have breakfast at home then go out for coffee.

The best way to buy a house.

  1. Skip breakfast.
  2. Have instant coffee.
  3. ???
  4. Move In.

Never at home. I might occasionally choose it if I am eating breakfast/brunch out. I do eat avocados quite often, just prefer other things on toast.

784p · 05/10/2024 10:36

Rarely, I don’t mind it but there’s a bunch of things I’d rather have on toast than that, hummus and tomato, beans, egg etc

SleepingisanArt · 05/10/2024 10:37

Never! I hate avocado (texture and taste) and it doesn't make me happy when I see it on menus in dishes where is shouldn't be (a bacon sandwich)!

Ohright01 · 05/10/2024 10:37

I’ve gone off eggs having liked them all my life but now I have a crush on avocado.

About three times a week usually for lunch with a side salad but I’m vegan and it’s practically the law!

ScottBakula · 05/10/2024 10:38

Never , I really don't see / taste the appeal with them

Give me poached eggs or fried mushrooms any day for breakfast, snack , supper or whenever

Mittens67 · 05/10/2024 10:39

Never.
Marmite, cheese, eggs, beans, marmalade or jam belong on toast. Not green sludge.

Ohright01 · 05/10/2024 10:47

I’m surprised so many dislike it or don’t eat it.

Maybe once a month- but avocados need to be jazzed up. Otherwise they just taste like mattress 🙄

I tend to smash mine with feta and chilli flakes and add good quality olive oil. Tastes heavenly

I think this is what I need to do
I've never liked avocado, it's just bland creamy stuff to me. But maybe I need to start treating it like an absorber, like pasta, lentils, rice, chickpeas etc.. all taste rank until you load them with flavours
I want to like it!

😂 exactly what I thought this was going to be about

How often do you eat avocado toast? When were you born and do you own your own home?

Never
70s
Yes

bringonyourwreckingball · 05/10/2024 10:48

Not for a while but that’s lunch sorted. Possibly with halloumi. It is the one lunch option I know won’t get snaffled by ravenous teenagers, neither of them like avocado and dd2 is gluten free

henlake7 · 05/10/2024 10:52

Never....I have tried avocado and just didnt get the appeal.

(Ive been vegan for over 7yrs.....clearly Im doing it wrong! LOL).

Never, avocado tastes what I think wet cotton wool would taste like 😝😖😆

Oh my god I got full body cringe reading that😬 dry cotton wool is awful, wet😱 and op I have never eaten it and probably won't after this 😂

Bonjovispjs · 05/10/2024 10:56

Never. I eat them on their own and sometimes make guacamole, but never on toast, not sure why I've never tried it? 🤔

AdviceNeeded2024 · 05/10/2024 10:58

Avocados are the devils food 🤮

DeanElderberry · 05/10/2024 10:59

I like both, but eat them separately. Breakfast yesterday - avocado, diced tomato, emmental, poached egg.

Slice of toast with butter and marmalade.

Sepoctnov · 05/10/2024 10:59

Never. I am saving up for that £400 watch.

Floralnomad · 05/10/2024 11:00

Never I can’t abide avocado .

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 05/10/2024 11:00

It had it's hipster moment 10 years ago or so and is now just standard 'vegan brunch' offering. I ate a lot of them then and now it makes me faintly nauseous.

Superworm24 · 05/10/2024 11:00

Never but my baby who we have just started weaning has been having it every week. Should I be putting that money into a house deposit for baby? Does this mean they will never own a home?

Cattery · 05/10/2024 11:00

Love toast. Never had avocado. Never liked the thought of it

AuntieMarys · 05/10/2024 11:01

About 3 times a week...with poached eggs and chilli's

Ineedwinenow · 05/10/2024 11:02

Never have it, I have guacamole when we have Mexican and what is smashed avocado? Is it just avocado mushed up with a fork?

DeanElderberry · 05/10/2024 11:02

I also still like the 1960s thing of halved avocado with the hollow filled with a herby, slightly sweet vinaigrette. No toast required.
