I need a good crying film

I've just watched A Star Is Born (Bradley Cooper version) and it's made me a bit weepy, I need a good cry to get it out, what shall I watch?

Coincidentally I just found out Kris Kristofferson died a few days ago, which I wasn't expecting to read when googling information about the film I was watching.

Truly, Madly, Deeply. It's just lovely 😭

Mum2DD · 01/10/2024 20:55

A star is born. I've been banned from watching it anymore as it makes me a complete mess!!!

BabstheBounder · 01/10/2024 20:58

Coco. Yes it's a Disney film. But it ruins me every time I watch it.

Latenightreader · 01/10/2024 20:59

My mother still talks about the time we saw The Crucible at the cinema when I was about 15. I cried so much apparently people were turning round. I do remember a woman a few seats away passing me extra tissues…

Howtonamechange · 01/10/2024 20:59

The saddest movie I ever watched is grave of the fireflies.

I can never rewatch it 😭

onlyconnect · 01/10/2024 20:59

Definitely Lion

trythisforsize · 01/10/2024 21:00

The Bridges of Madison County

I cried 9 times and needed a damp flannel in the end as my eyes were so hot and puffy 😭

Oh me neither. There’s sad, there is very sad, and then there is rip your heart out and crush it into powder. Grave of the Fireflies is worse.

I’ve watched it twice, once on my own and again because DH had never seen it 😮‍💨

TossedSaladandSE · 01/10/2024 21:05

Lorenzos oil had me sobbing as did Shine

billysboy · 01/10/2024 21:05

GinBlossom94 · 01/10/2024 21:05

City of Angels, Beaches or Stepmom

DD and I have a standing joke if either of us are feeling down, either mention watching Notebook, My Sisters Keeper or Mamma Mia with slipping Through My Fingers.

It makes us laugh and decide not to watch, but changes the mood.

I haven’t got her to watch A Star is born yet, as she doesn’t trust me anymore!

This was DDs favourite film when she was 4 !!!

Radionowhere · 01/10/2024 21:07

Oh my goodness, Lion! Properly ugly crying. Great film.
The Notebook makes me well up

Autumnleaveswhenthegrassisjewelled · 01/10/2024 21:07

İnside out 1 and 2.

The Lion King when Mufasa dies. I actually still cry thinking about it.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence.

I don't know any grown up films which make me weep 🤣🤣🤣

Baileysandcream · 01/10/2024 21:07

The English Patient

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 01/10/2024 21:08

Bit of a left field one but 50/50. It’s based on a true story and Seth Rogen plays the best friend of the character when he was the best friend of the real life bloke. It’s achingly sad but also funny in parts. It’s a very ground in reality film. I sob like a baby every damn time.

I had a very damp face in the cinema on seeing this. I might watch this.
