Sky News is reporting Iran has launched missiles into Israel. It's very scarey. It should never have got to this escalation. Awful.

Iran, a medieval mysogynistic Islamic terror state. Let their military assests be severely degraded and their leadership flechetted when they reappear from wherever have scuttled to.

Thousands upon thousands of Jewish people were expelled from their homes in Arab countries in1948. They had lived in harmony with their Arab neighbours for centuries under the Ottoman Empire.

I think you're confused. Nakba means catastrophe in Arabic and refers to the mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians during the Arab Israeli war.

Israel ignored the UN resolution that called for refugee return, property restitution and compensation and because of the Nakba there are approximately 5 million Palestinians scattered throughout the ME.

The Israeli government called for another Nakba when they launched their current offensive against Palestine.

sorry, but you are shockingly delusional and gullible. Trump has no clue what the truth is. E.g., he was responsible for the Afghanistan fiasco. Etc. he admires authoritarian dictators

I actually completely agree with Trump, he had them all under lock & key.
He needs to get back into power.

You must be joking.

To name a few. So much wrong with him. He's shockingly incompetent and will ruin America and then the world. People who have worked with him previously call him a "fucking moron". Yep, that's def who we should have as the leader of the free world. Massive eye roll

And Israel is so innocent in all of this? Give me a break, Israel are the worst terrorists in the middle east, and most deadly.

There has been ample opportunity for Netanyahu to de-escalate this war. It has gone way beyond the self defence premise, with no care whatsoever for the Palestinian civilians population, obliterating hospitals, schools and denying food and medical aid in, along with persistent land grabbing. Totally inhumane what has happened. Now Israel are attacking Lebanon Syria and Yemen. Netanyahu will not back down because his govt will collapse and his political career will be over, opening the door to charges of fraud and corruption along with war crimes. They have not shown any restraint and I fear that this is only the pre cursor to a much wider middle east conflict. Many ordinary Isrealis are also opposed to his leadership. I'm not a supporter of any terrorist organisation but I do think the seeds are behind sown for the next generation of Hamas/Hezbollah fighters..... And on it goes

Ticktockk · 02/10/2024 18:31

Errr if course this could easily become WW3. Israel will go after Iran. Russia are strategically allied to Iran. The US, Germany and UK are helping Israel.
Putin would adore an excuse to go with his rhetoric that the British caused all the problems faced by Russia and the ME. (Well, that’s sort of true I guess, but it’s not the fault of the British people).
I’m not saying anyone is about to launch ballistic missiles at us, but we will feel the effects of what is beginning this week.

I agree. Netanyahu has gone too far to back down. If he stops now, he leaves Israel in a very precarious state. If he’d have put a stop to the genocide months ago…

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

What’s your point though?

RedHotWings · 02/10/2024 19:00

It has not been found that Israel is committing genocide so all the people saying so add both factually incorrect and guilty of increasing the tensions that underline the conflict. Stop throwing around such words and undermining their meaning.

You're the one confused. I was making the point that as many Jews were displaced at the same time as Palestinians in 1948.An interesting question arises over the numbers of Palestinian refugees. Why do other Arab countries let them live only in refugee camps? Egypt won't let any refugees from Gaza enter the country.

It has not been found that Israel is committing genocide?! Were all those thousands of children leading members of Hamas? I think what you mean is no one has REPORTED that Israel is committing genocide.

"and of course the Nakba"

The Nakba being the time that the surrounding Arab nations decided to try and genocide the Jews, but lost their war of aggression?

Indeed. I'm shocked by how many people don't understand that it was Arabs who either persuaded or forced the locals, (who were a long way off being called 'Palestinians') to leave so the 5/6 ' Arab Armies' would have a clear run into Jerusalem to murder all the Jews. On Day One of their existence.

The Israelis won...

After Israel massacred civilians in Gaza, bombed Lebanon, Syria, Yemen etc. Important not to start with Iran’s response but rather the Israeli actions which have helped lead us to this dangerous point.

About those 'civilians'...

Oh, believe me, Israel has shown enormous restraint.

If they wanted to 'genocide' the Gazans, it would all have been over on Oct 8.

They have been able to be more forensic with Hezbollah because many Lebanese hate them and are informing on them.

Hamas have been responsible for the deaths of the Palestinian men, women and children they claim to represent. Not Israel. The terrorist group have positioned their ‘headquarters’ under schools and hospitals. Israel have said they want the remaining hostages released, then both parties can sit down and talk about a cease fire.

Edited

I was talking about the Nakba in a list of abuses meted out to the Palestinians. The Palestinians are not responsible for the Jewish people displaced by other Arab countries nor is it a competition.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, but it can be argued that the Nakba never stopped and this recent invasion is more of the same. It comes across as an opportunity to raze Gaza to the ground.

And where are the Israeli military headquarters? Under residential buildings in Tel Aviv.
