DD has to gone off for a sleepover and now I have five hours to wait for my nice new man to come for dinner and a sleepover of our own. First time we’ll have DTD (assuming we do) after three dates over the course of six weeks. I’m excited and a bit nervous!

What shall I do to pass the time? I’m thinking… a bit of meal prep, nice bath, maybe a preparatory glass of wine in a couple of hours. I have the dress chosen and out of the wardrobe. It’s a long time to wait!

Hide all the valuables as you are letting a virtual stranger stay over in the house you share with your child?

LadyKenya · 28/09/2024 13:03

It is not a good idea for him to know where you live, I would have thought. Too soon.

Shmambles · 28/09/2024 13:07

What? God, that’s a mood killer!

I’ve been chatting to him constantly for weeks, have had three dates including one that started at his house. Pretty confident he’s not a cat burglar / killer. But thanks for your concern.

I very much doubt most hook ups lead to theft. This must happen once in a blue moon

LunaNorth · 28/09/2024 13:14

Blimey, talk about a passion killer!

Make a playlist and get the good candles out, OP and get your vibe on charge

79Helene · 28/09/2024 13:14

Ignore the misanthropes and have a lovely evening!

yipyipyipp · 28/09/2024 13:14

Her child won't be there. Put your pitchfork away, and put your reading glasses on.

StarSlinger · 28/09/2024 13:16

How on earth do some people on MN think that people get together in the first place?

Have a lovely evening, OP.

Comedycook · 28/09/2024 13:17

Do your nails, watch a box set, deep condition your hair, choose a nice wine, decide on your outfit....

And er, hide your best silver, according to some! 😂

sonjadog · 28/09/2024 13:17

Wow, there are some miserable people on here...

I would probably do a last house clean, and then have a bath, make sure everything was well-manicured. I would probably also go out and have coffee with a friend or just go for a walk as the nerves would get to me.

LunaNorth · 28/09/2024 13:17

Is ‘hide all your valuables’ the new ‘keep your hand on your ha’penny’?

Definitely do a last tidy up/clean then go out to dispell the anxiety and fretting!

I went to my now partner's house and had sex on our first date. Still together and very happy six years down the line!

Hope you have an amazing time.

rubyrubyrubyrubymurray · 28/09/2024 13:23

Deffo some lady garden maintenance, bubble bath and a preparatory glass of wine. Whack on some tunes. Maybe even a disco nap if you anticipate there won't be much sleeping tonight?

Have you actually seen the goods he's got? Because imagine all the excitement and then he's not got the goods you had imagined ....

harriethoyle · 28/09/2024 13:25

Lolol @skippy67 😆👏🏻

lovely bath, glass of wine or two, sort your outfit, nails, moisturiser and you’ll be set.

to reassure you, DH stayed over on our third date and my valuables have remained unpilfered to this day six years later 🤣🤣🤣

This took an immediate left turn 😂. I love mumsnet 😂

Long leisurely bath, shave pits and fanny, your fave perfume and an easy to remove dress. Enjoy tonight!

Shmambles · 28/09/2024 13:31

Right, I’ve called 111 just to get the police on standby. I have a mate who knows a guy who works the door at a snooker club. So he’s going to park outside. I’ve dropped all my jewellery off at my mum’s and bade her a tearful farewell. And I’ve superglued the good crockery to the base of the cupboard. Now I know it’s going to be a great evening.

I hope you have a lovely time. One thing I suggest and I'll probably get jumped on, is before doing the deed make it clear that you're not into rough sex - be that choking, hair pulling, spanking, name calling or anything like that (unless you are of course!).

Modern dating can be a bit of a minefield and some of these things are expected, so I'd just be clear that they're not for you.

Shmambles · 28/09/2024 13:38

@LunaNorth Yes! The playlist is on. I actually have another one that’s a bit slower for later. No Barry White but it’s on the way.

@rubyrubyrubyrubymurray @pinkyredrose Yep, legs and pits will be back to their summer best. I do wonder about the lady garden. Obviously I’ll make it look pretty but I don’t want to go over the top. If this lasts then I’d quite like his expectations to be realistic and set early on! And no @rubyrubyrubyrubymurray i haven’t yet seen ‘the goods’!

Am currently sporting a single rubber glove to clean the kitchen (it was two but I took one off to type this). Will probably jettison that at some point.

What?! Where are you finding all these men who want to do that to you?!! I would definitely reassess your dating apps!!
