So for tv show:

When the Street Lights Go On.
Really good and equally as sad.

Films …. Maybe Creep 2004, I just rewatched it all these years later. But maybe it’s not as obscure as I think.

Well (imo) the thread has pretty much moved on from naming obscure films/series & has moved more towards "does anyone remember"?

Perhaps I should have prefaced my post with that?

Le retour de Martin Guerre
Jean de Florette
Manon des sources

They’re pretty well known, aren’t they? I’d have said fairly mainstream and familiar to anyone who likes French film.

AdaColeman · 20/09/2024 15:43

Just as an aside...

The Grand Hôtel des Ambassadeurs in Menton serves a banquet which is a replica of the meal in Babette's Feast.

If I won the lottery (😁) I would book that immediately.

Film - The Tamarind Seed.

Partly set in Barbados, starring Julie Andrews in her first ‘non sweet’ role, and Omar Sharif as the Russian she meets on holiday, who’s trying to recruit her as a spy - or is he?

Some heartstopping 70s Cold War dread, and a couple of brilliant twists.

Ooh, that sounds excellent!

And I’ve just looked it up and seen the director is Blake Edwards. What a pedigree!

Regarding Henry. Started in 1990ish.
A less well known Harrison Ford film..

For a moment I thought you meant After Henry, and wondered what Harrison Ford was doing playing a bit part in a Prunella Scales sitcom 🤣

Life Size - with Lyndsay Lohan and Tyra banks about a Barbie doll that comes to life.

Lloyd in space,
Zzzap!
Dr Zitburgs Transylvanian Pet Shop

I think Midnight Express is pretty well. known. I've heard of it but declined to watch it. Mainly because I'm a wuss and anything beyond a PG terrifies me. I still sometimes have nightmares about Shawshank.

Is this about a talking parrot?

I love Saved! (Jena Malone, Macaulay Culkin). Pregnant teenager at a very Christian high school.

Goodbye Lenin - siblings in East Germany need to hide the fall of the Berlin Wall from their ill and very Communist mother. Really funny but also moving in places.

I’ve watched half of good bye Lenin. It was on late at night and been out drinking so was struggling to keep up with the subtitles. Anyway I moved overseas and saw that it on the movies on the tv package I had. Unfortunately the subtitles were all in the language of the country I was living rather than in English! I’m on a mission now to find it.
