For me, it’s using a Fortnum and Mason hamper basket as a piece of decor…

Have we covered owning a dry robe yet?

What's wrong with a dry robe? I don't own one but I've just had a look at some & think I will soon.

@RedRocket

I'm sure they were designed for surfers / swimmers beach wear to get changed into / outof swimwear, hence the over sizing ?

Each to their own and all that but they belong on the beach not on the high street or school yard...

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 05/10/2024 21:35

@RedRocket it's like turning up to a job interview in your wedding stuff*, it's unnecessary and a total mismatch between function and environment.

*my original example was a rugged 4x4 in a city but that can get contentious on MN 😂

Who says?

I see, but it would be ok for the seaside?

PepaWepa · 05/10/2024 22:38

This threads making me realise I'm very wanky 🤣

Also keep my le crueset on the hob
Keep my empty designer jewellery boxes on display even though they're empty (jewellery stored elsewhere)

Most wanky of all..
Keep a bag on display in my bedroom from a Harley Street hospital that contained my medication after cosmetic surgery. (Very nice bag though 😂)

God I'm so wanky😳

It keeps you warm and dry and is spacious enough to get changed under but, tbh, unless it's particularly cold or you're out in the water a Dryrobe is probably overkill. I would get a changing robe from the likes of Decathlon. I've an Olaian changing robe and it's perfect for the UK plus much cheaper. I only use my Dryrobe for chilly autumnal days & the winter when doing watersports outside.

Edit: and of course the Olaian isn't only for getting changed. It is oversized and made of towelling cloth so is a toasty layer and is fine for a drizzle.

I own one and i love it, but i am WELL aware that this makes me a "Dry Robe Wanker" :)

But do you use it for it's intended purpose or as a coat on the school run or walking about town? If the latter then at least you're aware of the game of spotting Dry Robe Wankers out in the wild 🤣.

To the PP that asked before, it's the fact that people have started to use them as an actual coat. I kind of get it, but to me and others it's like wearing a dressing gown outside. It sort of makes sense in that it keeps you warm but looks awful 🤣

Verv · 08/10/2024 15:57

@GameOfJones I am in the DRW spotting group on FB, with my bum clenched waiting to make an appearance ;)

I use it for sea dipping and walking the mutt on the beach, but i have to say the temptation to sling it on when its raining as an actual coat is there and i will probably give in to it this winter. Sorry sorry. Its the ultrawanker black camo and pink one too.
