Non-fake, stable genius thanks to @Crucible for the new thread title.

Seniors' special today.*
They’re eating the dogs!
They’re eating the cats!
They’re eating the pets!...
So do you want fries with that cat? (*Apologies to non-MAGA seniors)

In other news, the swing states continue to be too close to call and it looks like it's going to be a nail-biting, buttock-clenching, hand-wringing 50 days to the election. (or thereabouts)

Trump campaign definitely has a B plan if he doesn't legitimately win on votes alone which is going to be copious litigation, and grass roots messing with certification at county level and upwards.
Plus whatever 'secret' he has with Speaker Johnson. Which I assume is more dissent in Congress in January 2025

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/10/2024 17:04

If you mean people are betting he will win, why so am I. If he wins, I get some money from my bet so that I can buy the booze to drown my sorrows. If he doesn't win I don't need the booze.

What, you mean everyone doesn't do that?

😂😂 I like this!

I wonder how much is Elon and his ilk manipulating the markets…

Igotjelly · 29/10/2024 16:54

The betting markets aren't very close, they're very clear now in predicting a Trump victory which is worrying.

I recall in many previous World Cups that England would be one of the bookies' favourites. It reflected the fact that (for whatever reason) lots of people betted on England so the odds were shortened. Not the strength of the team.

Whilst no where near as bad as all Trump’s rhetoric, Biden’s comments yesterday are pretty ill timed and unfortunate. To many it prevents the Harris campaign from taking the moral high ground around the argument.

Agreed. It’s like they just keep making these stupid gaffes. I get that Biden is not the candidate yadda yadda yadda, but it’s just giving the Trump camp more ammunition and gives them a chance to say “See, they haven’t changed. They still underestimate you.”

I had a lot of time for Biden, I do wish now that they’d keep him away from the campaign 😩

BBC described his comments on garbage as a gift for Trump’s campaign.

Biden has been pretty hands off but only takes one gaffe...

...however Trump and campaign will do something equally stupid/offensive/crass in the next 24 hours so at this late stage it's all a rolling ball of froth and no substance.

But once again, it's the media continuing to sane-wash Trump and crucify Biden/Harris.

Absolutely agree, the media makes such a fuss over this one small gaff but it’s magnified massively against Trump’s continuous hate filled nonsense.

It does feel like it’s overshadowed her closing event last night though which is a shame.

CaveMum · 30/10/2024 09:25

Interesting episode of TRIP this morning (no I’m not being paid to plug them!).

Rory said he has a friend door knocking in Michigan for the Harris campaign. A surprising number of people he has encountered have said that they don’t know where their polling place is or have no idea when the election is. It’s easy to forget that there are a lot of disenfranchised people out there who really couldn’t care less about the election.

It's his voice. That creepy, whispering singsong. If he wins I'm going to switch off any media he appears on because it give me the utter chills.

I'm deleting US news from all my online accounts if he wins. DH can tell me anything I need to know! I've already told DH's family that they will need to come to the UK if they want to see me over the next 4 years...

I saw a clip the other day that was an interview with Trump from 2015/2016 and the difference in how he was speaking then to how he speaks now was remarkable. And ultimately more scary because he really has deteriorated mentally and physically. Whether it's dementia? 🤷🏻‍♀️

My trigger points with him are the accordion hands.

Biden’s “gaffe” is only a gaffe if you buy into the narrative that it was, which unfortunately all the media, even the sensible ones, seem to do.
To preserve my sanity, I’m choosing to think that any sensible person will discount this nonsense.

Trump’s dirty election night trick doesn’t work if you know it’s coming. Let me explain.

That was so interesting and makes perfect sense. Trump is either incredibly thick (and really doesn't understand how it works) or just manipulative in calling victory early

Christ. If I had to choose between listening to Gove and listening to Trump, I'd throw myself off a building.

“But once again, it's the media continuing to sane-wash Trump and crucify Biden/Harris.”

Well I'm sure the media will have a great future if Trump gets in. I'm sure they'll continue to enjoy their freedom of speech. No sanctions. No retribution Hmm

BruceAndNosh · 30/10/2024 12:24

I know it's obvious, but second the worst thing about Trump being elected is the thought that half the engaged electorate think Trump is worth voting for. It's depressing to realise what a high percentage of Americans are OK with his level of racism, misogyny and xenophobia

Not all media, Trump would forgive Fox but give them a monopoly
