What's True Pussycat? - Trump Thread #134

Non-fake, stable genius thanks to @Crucible for the new thread title.

Seniors' special today.*
They’re eating the dogs!
They’re eating the cats!
They’re eating the pets!...
So do you want fries with that cat? (*Apologies to non-MAGA seniors)

In other news, the swing states continue to be too close to call and it looks like it's going to be a nail-biting, buttock-clenching, hand-wringing 50 days to the election. (or thereabouts)
Increase your anxiety with this handy countdown 😭

Have someone else say it, the outrage happens, then he or one of his mouthpieces steps in to decry what was said.

It’s pretty much an art form, the way he’s perfected it. Farage has been doing similar for years. It’s horrible how these vile people learn off each other.

And the worst part of it all is that they have no shame - they are proud of themselves. It's unbearable.

BustingBaoBun · 29/10/2024 07:39

I see Trump has come out fighting and at a rally saying that his father told him never to use the word Nazi or Hitler.
How interesting given that his father was arrested at a klu klux klan rally

BustingBaoBun · 29/10/2024 07:45

Reading about his father, Trump is obviously a chip of the old block

https://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trumps-ex-wife-once-said-he-kept-a-book-of-hitlers-speeches-by-his-bed-2015-8

In the Vanity Fair article, Ivana Trump told a friend that her husband's cousin, John Walter "clicks his heels and says, 'Heil Hitler," when visiting Trump's office.

NB - this dates from 1990 so he's had many years of "hardly knowing Hitler".

Donald Trump's ex-wife once said Trump kept a book of Hitler's speeches by his bed

"If, I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

Do you think this Puerto Rico joke fiasco is going to spook voters like the Hillary email scandal spooked voters in 2016? It seems to be gathering momentum!

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 29/10/2024 12:53

Why not? So long as everybody doesn't say "oh no that will never happen he's too certain to win" on every medium....

CaveMum · 29/10/2024 13:03

TRIP US are releasing podcasts every few days now in the run up to the election. Mooch is still saying he thinks Harris will win, citing the fact that the Trump campaign is putting a lot of store in the “young male” vote who are statistically the least likely to bother to turn up and vote.

Igotjelly · 29/10/2024 13:19

I think that the Puerto Rico comments could well have an impact though I'm not sure anything close to what we saw in 2016 in relation to Hilary and emails. In particular in Pennsylvania I think it might encourage Latino voters to come out for Harris.

CaveMum · 29/10/2024 13:20

Eurgh, that piece of work Bannon has been released from prison and will give a press conference this afternoon.

Except that by all accounts, Fred was a better businessman, who actually made money rather than losing it, I think?

Fred was bright and nasty.
Donald is dumb and nasty.
Inava was bright. Ivanka is bright. The boys take after their dad.

Fred's business dealings in New York were profitable but would not survive modern media scrutiny.
Donald was able to hire good lawyers - most of whom have now been struck off

Has anyone else seen those videos of Alina Habba coming onstage, dancing at his rallies? It's one of the most bizarre cult-like things I've ever seen in my life.

Maybe the Harris camp needs to get Mark Elias and Lawrence Tribe to start gyrating in tight clothes... Or maybe not 😂

I hope it's noting going too far off piste to say that when I go down the rabbit hole of terror, I've been finding old REM concerts and otter content essential light relief

Swing state polls the other day were showing a swing to Trump, according to reporting just now by Sky it looks like they're swinging back to Harris. She's now leading in battleground states worth 41 college votes to Trump's 27 (26 are tied).

She's now leading in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada and Nebraska 2nd.

Talkinpeace · 29/10/2024 16:41

Polling is all rather a mess as response rates to phone polls are so low that they REALLY struggle to get representative samples

Yes absolutely, would still much rather see those states polling blue than red, even if only for my own sanity 😂

Wallaw · 29/10/2024 16:53

Yes, the crazy polling is why I'm glued to Matthew Dowd - he's very experienced at discounting what he calls the junk polls.

Does anyone follow Jon Ralston? He's the guru for all electorate-related things in Nevada -

The betting markets aren't very close, they're very clear now in predicting a Trump victory which is worrying.

Just finished Ludwig, now on the latest Only Murders In the Building (I have a big soft spot for Steve Martin 🤩).
Or it's cat and dog memes and videos shared with and from my DD 😸 and other "lols" such as...

Not to be too pollyana-ish, but I wouldn't put too much faith or fear in that. The betting markets are run by people trying to make a profit (right wing money boys, as my husband says) and are very mathematical without much leeway for human behaviour.

We won't even get into the troubling Nate Silver - Polymarket link...

If you mean people are betting he will win, why so am I. If he wins, I get some money from my bet so that I can buy the booze to drown my sorrows. If he doesn't win I don't need the booze.

What, you mean everyone doesn't do that?

I'm currently binging the Fleetwood Mac back catalogue (showing my age there!)
