Its disgusting language but aside from that it's deeply troubling. He's basically saying that Trump is going to punish the American people for some unspecified wrongs that they've done (aka I suspect daring to vote Democrat or supporting any perceived actions against him). This could look like any myriad of things such as detentions, politically motivated convictions, media suppression etc. etc. etc.

I think we should take any perceived sense of a need for revenge from a man who is well known to have slept with Mein Kampf by his bed and to have idolised Hitler as very serious.

I just saw that Dana Bash said that Harris failed to close the deal at the town hall or something like that.

I'm so fed up with the double standard the media applies. He gets to spew the verbal equivalent of diarrhea mixed with razor wire and lies and they're like, yeah, just another day of Donald Trump, but Harris, SHE failed to recall line item 435 to the last decimal point so those voters are never going for her.

In my time I have watched a lot of documentaries/videos about Cults. Everything from Manson, Jim Jones, Koresh Waco etc... and I honestly think this is a Trump cult. 'A system of devotion directed towards a particular figure.'

I know someone who I would consider is in a cult. She wouldn't, but boy oh boy, she is. There is a figure at the helm who the followers all revere. It doesn't matter what anyone says to my friend/acquaintance, she cannot see it. The figurehead manipulates, extracts money, has her followers doing all sorts of extraordinary acts (which enrich this Leader). They cannot see it.
Think of Trump watches, sneakers, bibles. Whooping at the awful Daddy thing. They are so much in a cult.

This really is dangerous times.

And all because he's a hurt little baby man and never got the right pats on the back from the big mainstream media boys. The New York Times did an interesting series on him a few years back.

Why do we live in a society that rewards such ill-intentioned fuckery?

What the hell is wrong with these people? And why is Trump going to win (as I am unfortunately sure he will), given how clearly unfit for purpose he is, particularly if he is then replaced by Vance? Will there be a civil war and/or will the Blue states secede from the Union? Or are the polls deliberately misleading to make sure reasonable people get out and vote for the Harris/Walz ticket?

I don't think the polls deliberately mislead. I do think there's been some misleading usage of internal polling by the R's. I also think they're almost impossible to interpret and not always particularly predictive of actual voter behaviour.

When I opened my ballot, I have to say, I had an absolute visceral reaction of disgust at seeing Trump and Vance on it. Like it somehow made it real. I was also unprepared for the fact that it would literally say 'JD Vance'. I don't know why it bothered me so much, but these fuckers have been after Obama's birth certificate and asserting that Harris isn't black and this one wants to be vice president (and presumably president) and doesn't even go by his real fucking name.

Urgh. Sorry for the rant!

IMO the Republican chatter around the “Trump’s got it in the bag” narrative is them setting the groundwork for another post-election “Stop the Steal” campaign if/when he loses.

Surely from a Republican perspective, if you were trying to win you would be doing the opposite to what they are doing. You'd be constantly hyping how close things are - heavily publicising the poll's in swing states where Harris is marginally ahead. But they're not really doing that. Trump and his lackeys obviously think they will be able to override a result they don't like and are seemingly willing to use their 'foot soldiers' in the election offices as cannon fodder.

I think they genuinely do think he's got it in the bag. Even the non-Republican leaning polls now have him leading in most of the key swing states and its largely believed that the polls will be underestimating his vote share again.

I have to say I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about it all.

Although a lot of people seem to think the 'hidden vote' will swing towards Harris this time, so who knows?

I agree that's their plan. I also think they rely on spreading hopelessness and despair, so are perpetuating their lost cause narrative hoping Dems won't bother turning out. There's never any positivity with this lot.

My dad was GOP all his life.
In 2016 he voted Libertarian as he had swallowed the lies about Hillary.
In 2020 he voted Biden because he had business knowledge of Trump.

He died in 2021 and clearing his apartment three years ago right now was the most awful week of my life.

Well, all our ballots have been dropped at the elections office, we've done what we can do.

I haven't been paying attention to the polls, after 2016 I just don't trust them anymore.

I refuse to be 'resigned' to a Trump victory. I'm not sanguine, but I'm not going to give up hope until the results are in.
