Non-fake, stable genius thanks to @Crucible for the new thread title.

Seniors' special today.*
They’re eating the dogs!
They’re eating the cats!
They’re eating the pets!...
So do you want fries with that cat? (*Apologies to non-MAGA seniors)

In other news, the swing states continue to be too close to call and it looks like it's going to be a nail-biting, buttock-clenching, hand-wringing 50 days to the election. (or thereabouts)

A friend of mine lives not far from Mar a Lago so if the storm could just take out beach front and leave her house, that would be cool :-)

Maybe what we need is a small but very specific tornado then? 😜

More reasons to avoid C4's coverage

“I personally don't think he intended to overthrow the constitution.”

Johnson defends Donald Trump over the January 6th attack on the US Capitol and argues the former president would have prevented the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

All I could think of watching that was Vicky Pollard going "Yes but, no but, yes but" Hmm

I gather that Mar-a-Lago itself is pretty-much hurricane-proof, with three-foot-thick walls anchored with concrete and metal to the rock below. The grounds being destroyed would be satisfying, though.

Shame they didn't use the same people that AFC Wimbledon did 😄

Like his tiny little hands (or thumb nubs as Jimmy Kimmel says)

I mean he’s not wrong, but I’m guessing he isn’t including himself and his greatest supporters in that group.

Less than 4 weeks now... so any calories are now zero...

I read somewhere that he insulted Kamala Harris again saying everywhere will end up like Detroit.... whilst talking to people in Detroit

“Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president. You’re going to have a mess on your hands,” Trump said.

Spandauer · 11/10/2024 11:52

Also from that Detroit appearance.

Trump: If I were named Obama, I would’ve had the Nobel Prize. He got the prize, he didn’t know what he got it for. He got elected. So did I… I got elected too. There’s a lot unfairness in this world.

I watched a few clips from the "interview" at the Detroit Economic Club. He was asked at one point about how he had raised such great children and what was his advice... he went off on a 10 minute ramble that ended up with declaring that there should be a mandatory death sentence for anyone who dealt in drugs. No coherent advice other than don't do drugs or alcohol.
(I guess Jnr didn't get the memo)

And that was one of his more lucid responses! The interviewer (who was presumably an approved Trump person) was visibly cringing and shuffling his question cards, trying to look engaged. How does anyone with even a smidge of critical thought bear to be in a room with him?

Yet the press and pundits are still bleating on about Kamala Harris being media shy and pulling every tiny thing she says to pieces.

I don't expect her to get a free pass but puhlease!

Also absolute garbage about circles...
If the outcome of the election wasn't so serious and close I would laugh, but WTAF?!

Watch: Trump Completely Loses Train of Thought in Awkward Speech.
Donald Trump rambled about “beautiful” circles and defined “groceries” during a speech at the Detroit Economic Club.

On the plus side, angry Obama is lit. If you haven't watched the clips from last night, it's worth pulling them up. I was reading yesterday that he's still hugely influential with both middle aged and young voters. I think if he really hits the road he could make a material difference in turnout.

I have to think there's a possibility that some in the Republican Party felt at least a stirring of shame listening to him.

Edited

Yes to this.

Also - he called out men who are reluctant to vote for (gasp!) a woman to drop the excuses.

We're 'out in the wilderness' (ie no cell/no wifi) for our last RV trip of the year. We get to connect when we get into town.

I missed Obama's speech but I'm so glad he's hit the campaign trail for Harris.

And I'm so glad to see him double down on Sam Elliott's Lincoln Project ad; "Be a man, vote for a woman".

We did hear some of Trump's despicable lies about FEMA's hurricane response. I'm surprised he hasn't spouted MTG's nonsense about 'them' directing hurricanes to Republican states.....he hasn't done that, has he?

It has been nice to be out of the loop for a bit. But so much to catch up when we sit in the store parking lot with our laptops lol.

Talkinpeace · 11/10/2024 16:38

Just watched the Obama speech.
Damn he's good
and I know he was pretty equivocal about Harris at the start
but he can see the bigger picture.

There are several Dem policies I have a massive problem with
but nothing compares to the risk Trump presents

I actually don't think he was equivocal about her. I think he was instrumental in convincing Biden to step aside and it would have been unseemly for him to endorse too quickly. I think we can be pretty confident that Harris wouldn't have been elevated to without his nod.

Fingers crossed we get Michelle out there too.

Scattered in the drivel was plenty of misinformation.

I did like this from Spandauer’s link above.

BruceAndNosh · 11/10/2024 20:44

Vance also - after not answering the number one question, said he would not have certified the 2020 results, again resorting to whataboutism
Someone on Twix summarised his response as...
Girlfriend: Did you fuck my sister?
Me: I’m looking towards the future.
Girlfriend: Did you?
Me: Do you think it’s ok you wear shoes in the house?

BustingBaoBun · 11/10/2024 20:48

What a snake Vance is.
Not answering a question but banging on about Hunter Biden's laptop which has nothing to do with the result.

He just wants power. And will say anything to get it.

Let's not forget he called Trump 'America's Hitler'. It's amazing how people can change with a sniff of power.

BruceAndNosh · 12/10/2024 04:27

His answer to "will you accept result of 2024 election" was a very waffly Yes but only if Trump wins

CaveMum · 12/10/2024 07:40

Interesting article on Trump trying to appeal to the “young disenfranchised male” market. He pretty much has that demographic locked down already so they music be co corned about how likely they are to bother to actually go out snd vote on the day.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj9j43890k7o

Donald Trump and Theo Von

Trump talks MMA and golf in podcast push for young male voters

There's a huge gender divide in this election but will the young men Trump is courting go out and vote for him?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj9j43890k7o

pointythings · 12/10/2024 09:08

@CaveMum given that women are more likely to turn out and vote than men, and that women are currently leaning Democrat more than Republican, I'd say they have reason for concern there.

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2024 16:47

As far as I'm concerned Vance is what Trump wishes Don Jr and Eric were. Basically a conniving wannabe, except I will allow that Vance has a good brain. Twisted and egotistical, but good. Not good in a moral sense, oh, y'all know what it mean. If Trump gets reelected (spin 3 times, spit on the ground & stomp on it, say 'No Whammy' 10x) Trump better watch his back (literally). Vance is aiming for the top job and I wouldn't be surprised if he were to drip a little 'something' in Trump's diet Coke. What's that drug you see on the crime shows? It mimics a heart attack but disappears from the blood rapidly?

Trump’s closing message is a full blown hate campaign against black and brown people. Historians will look back in astonishment that this terrifying reality wasn’t the subject of wall to wall coverage and commentary in weeks leading up to this election. He’s not hiding anything.
