Whose clever idea was it to put stickers on greetings cards?! Not the easy pull off ones but the ones that leave some of the sticker behind. I know very first world problems.

Anybody want to put anything into the black hole of hell?

Well said!

'Resealable' packets of pasta, that you fold down and seal with a little sticky flap thing.

Yeah, right.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 13/09/2024 15:24

Whoever decided that large appliances should incessantly beep until you give them attention.

Our tumble dryer is the worst: beeps forever after it's finished until you acknowledge it. Why?? It's switched itself off already, there's no danger. I have to get up, go down downstairs to the futility room and press the button to thank it before it'll stop.

Close runner up is the microwave: "I've finished! I've finished! I've finished! I've finished! I've finished! I've finished!...." etc. ad infinitum 😒

Not just greeting cards but I've gone to purchase books, ephemera and items in old packaging at junk & antique sales - and the vendor has slapped a recalcitrant sticker right over the best part of the book cover, old box or whatever. (Sometimes the retro packaging is the best part, or would be.)

It boggles the mind that a supposed informed professional seller would deface an item and lower it's value.

I've just won some beautiful prizes at the church tombola. I was so careful removing the sellotape where the raffle tickets were, but it's still damaged some of the items. Books in our school tombola are always ruined with sellotape from raffle tickets.

A plea to anyone who has a booze raffle: put the raffle ticket on the neck of the bottles and not over the main labels so you can peel it off and regift it if need be

Now this I don't agree with. I don't think anyone needs to thank someone for something that they didn't ask them to do. Nice if they do acknowledge it, or thank you, but they shouldn't need to IMO.

Agree, ppl who stare at you to see if you thank them or not are odd. I let ppl in all the time, and idc.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 13/09/2024 15:28

People on public transport. I've went back to getting the bus due to change in work location and it's like people have forgotten how to behave. Bus etiquette as I knew it has gone down the swanny.

Watching screens, listening to music without headphones, having loud phone conversations for all to hear, people treating their journey like an extension of their living rooms. I hate it. Just be quiet.

In fact the same could be applied to those in the cinema now..

ruffler45 · 13/09/2024 15:28

the new Mccains air fryer chips, bought 1 packet to try them, never again, been to Tesco and no signs of them this week, short supply or taken off market?

VictoriaEra2 · 13/09/2024 15:34

People who amble slowly through cities in groups of three or more. They’re walking horizontally across the pavement - in a line - and you can’t get past them when you’re in a rush.

Ihateslugs · 13/09/2024 15:41

Arctangent · 13/09/2024 12:57

They're awful. I've got problems with my hands anyway. Now I get red marks all over me when I open them, even if I use my sleeve.

And they're a nightmare to screw back on. If you don't get it just so, it doesn't go back on.

I used to get the dangling lid get up my nose when drinking from the bottle. Then a friend told me that the lid snapped back if you push it hard enough over the neck and stays there! Sorted that issue!

Now I just need to work out how to get the lid back on first try, it can take several goes to seal the bottle again!

I mainly use reusable drinks bottles but keep a few of these throwaway bottles in the car for emergencies, I need to take pain meds every four hours and sometimes find myself out longer than I expected.

Yes, I need pain meds all the time too. It's a nuisance!

I usually have water in a refillable bottle but sometimes I want a sugary fizzy drink to get me moving. Hate having to wrestle with the bloody thing!

NoahsTortoise · 13/09/2024 15:49

People who don't let you out of your driveway if you're trying to pull into traffic. RUDE.

Itneverrainsinsocal · 13/09/2024 15:49

Thebellofstclements · 13/09/2024 14:30

I suppose the idea is that, gradually, people drinking out of single use plastic bottles in their bedrooms, will gradually migrate to reusable glasses...

not that I need to explain myself to you but it was a one off… I very rarely get a bottle of water, it was part of a meal deal. I normally have a glass!!

I very much doubt their master plan was to get people using a glass… more to keep the lid with the corresponding bottle so that they get recycled together and the lid doesn’t end up as litter. God why am I bothering 🤣

treacledan71 · 13/09/2024 15:50

Elderflower14 · 13/09/2024 11:29

Yes the bottles where the lid won't come all the way off and just hang there and then get in the way when you tip the bottle up.

Yes one of theses went all over my bag.

People who stop dead in doorways to look at their phone or faff with their bag, or stop for a chat in the doorway of a busy supermarket, or across the aisle of the same supermarket.

If ever you read a story about some mad woman banned from Tesco for rugby tackling another patron, that'll be me.

People who stop dead anywhere! Where I live there's quite a lot of beautiful architecture in the town centre and one particular place where you sort of come upon it as you round a corner. Unfortunately that's also where my bus goes from and I've lost count of the times I've nearly walked into the back of a tourist who suddenly stops dead in the middle of the pavement to take 400 photos of the view!

menopause59 · 13/09/2024 15:54

People who put their Christmas decorations up in October

HauntedbyMagpies · 13/09/2024 15:59

@Lifeomars You need to connect the printer to your WiFi network first. Have you downloaded the app for it onto your phone? It should walk you through connecting the printer to WiFi and anything else you need to do.

Yeahnoforsure · 13/09/2024 16:01

Apologies if this has been said already: clothing labels, sewn on the back of the neck of tops with almost invisible, minute stitches of nylon thread. They itch and scratch and drive me mad until I can pick out the stitches while not making a hole. Why do they have to do that? Print the * things on!

When you have opened or held a door for someone and they don't say thank you!!

THIS

Mums pushing empty prams around.
Parents taking up the whole path and dont tell their kids to move on the side.
People treating dogs like humans or letting them jump on you when you pass.
People with their heads in their phones and bang into me.
Kids running and screaming in the shops.
People chating in the door ways.

Yes i have a people issue.

I agree with all of these and will add:

parents who leave their kids to be feral
people who don't give way when they're meant to (or say thank you)
electric scooter wankers

HauntedbyMagpies · 13/09/2024 16:03

@HeySummerWhereAreYou How bloody rude! It's basic manners! We're not talking about being made to do something uncomfortable or unpleasant ffs it's a simple "thanks"

Coffeeandbiscuits9 · 13/09/2024 16:06

Stomach bugs!

People who buy puppies when their existing dog is in their twilight years.

Fucking selfish, heartless bastard cunts.

What on earth is wrong with doing that?!? It's perfectly normal, reasonable behaviour. It helps a lot with grief and most (granted not all) older dogs are quite happy to sit and be entertained by a bouncy pup

HauntedbyMagpies · 13/09/2024 16:10

@HeySummerWhereAreYou My Godddd the lengths you are going to and the knots you're tying yourself into, just to try justify having no basic decency. 😂

Escalators are worse. People who get off the escalator and stop dead to look at their phone, map, whatever so when I step off the escalator, there's nowhere to go and you end up with a big pile-up. Then they glare at you when you say "Excuse me" and physically shove past them because what else can you do?

ArtichokeAardvark · 13/09/2024 16:14

Bathroom cubicles where they squeeze the sani bin hard up against the loo, so your thighs touch against the top of the bin. 😖 I hate it, but almost every office or public bathroom has this issue. Or maybe I've just got ginormous thighs.
