Who is the most famous person alive today?

As in, well known world wide by face or name.

I would say the Queen was up there when she was alive but not sure Charles would make the top 10 now.

Trump, Putin or Elon Musk perhaps?

Obviously there are many famous Hollywood actors and singers but are any the most famous worldwide where English isn't the first language?

I work with people who have never heard of Elon Musk.

Can’t get my head round the fact Selena Gomez is ar just under 700 million, which according to some folks logic on here would make her the second most famous person on the planet. As you can’t use it for Ronaldo and not her,

and Gomez is not that famous.😂

Edited

Nobody on here is only using social media following as their reason they think they'd famous person is Ronaldo. Its that mixed with other reasons..

Are you male? Do you maybe dress down or in footie tops? Or look like a typical football fan?

im female, and no one has ever said oh you’re English so,you like football, but to be fair they don’t to my husband either,

I’m a woman, I travel for leisure and tend to stay in low-mid budget places and travel by public transport so mixing with the plebs!

I wouldn’t be seen dead in a football top or sports branding. If it’s a hot country I’ll be wearing a vest top and shorts (not sporty ones). I wear makeup and I’m very feminine. Not particularly interested in football (will watch the odd international match).

Particularly thinking of my experience in developing countries- I was in Italy last week and locals talk a lot about Italy rather than ask me about the U.K.

I travel a lot globally. Genuinely, and I’ve never went and discussed Ronaldo and messi. ever.

If you are, it tells me you’re a huge huge footie fan and that’s what you talk about, irrelevant of how sad that is.going to peoples countries and talking about two footballers rather than their country and culture. It however doesn’t mean it’s the most famous folks, simply it means you like to talk football

Why on earth would finding common interests with others be “sad”? Who says you can’t learn about the country or culture without also having conversations about football? Your comment reeks of snobbery.

I can’t imagine that anyone is known world wide?! Like others have said maybe putin for all the wrong reasons! Or the Korean bloke - again for all the wrong reasons!

Each country has their own celebrities, and some of the world nan anything ‘western’

@Wineandcupcakes Race Across the world currently on iPlayer … there is a scene where Freddie and his dad Jeff Brazier stay with a family in Brazil - nobody speaks English so they converse through a mobile translator. They ask father and son about football and what team they support. The Brazilian family had a teenage daughter no sons. Point proven that football is a great leveller and unites people across the globe. They also asked about the royal family.

My DH just reminded and owner of a bar in Italy struck up a conversation about football and he did talk about Ronaldo and Messi - completely forgot about that 😂

Interestingly no one's said Prince and Princess of Wales. Which immediately makes me think 30 years ago it would have (definitely?) been Diana.

Ooogh interesting point . Especially considering the efforts they will have made to combat Harry and Meghan's popularity.
