Who is the most famous person alive today?

virgocatlover · 11/09/2024 18:22

As in, well known world wide by face or name.

I would say the Queen was up there when she was alive but not sure Charles would make the top 10 now.

Trump, Putin or Elon Musk perhaps?

Obviously there are many famous Hollywood actors and singers but are any the most famous worldwide where English isn't the first language?

I wouldn't recognise Messi if he walked past me.

Yea it’s trump or putin I think.

tobee · 11/09/2024 18:40

Op is this name recognition or facial or does it need to be both?

spiderdave · 11/09/2024 18:40

Oh, I'd have said Beyoncé, maybe Eminem. My "most famous" idea being everyone's heard of them at some point.

Yes, including "everyone" in China and India.

I'd say Trump.

Livinginaclock · 11/09/2024 18:42

Currently, Taylor Swift

You really think in places like India or Vietnam they have all heard of Ronaldo?

But that’s about popularity. It doesn’t correlate directly to who is the most famous.

if the op asked whose the most popular then it would be a footballer.

He wouldn't walk, he'd do some stepovers and nutmeg you at the last second.

tobee · 11/09/2024 18:44

You see with the advent of the internet and social media etc I think people live in their own little bubbles much more. Which is interesting because I think we're much more global than we've ever been.

The Queen was probably most well known partly because she had been around a while. You need longevity to your fame; although not necessarily great age.

I think Beyoncé and Eminem have both had their day.

Interestingly I thought people would have answered David Attenborough on here. But not sure myself

MyStylish40s · 11/09/2024 18:44

Trump

Spomb · 11/09/2024 18:44

I would say Neymar is probably the most recognised footballer in the world along with Ronaldo. Federer is another athlete who is very recognisable.

People like Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Paul McCartney, Jonny Depp are more older to middle generational.

Beyonce, Kanye, Swift, Kardashians, are probably up there for the young to middle generations.

Well yes, because he used to play in the English Premier League, and by far and away the largest number of viewers of that content live in Asia.

Sky makes nothing out of football rights in England. It's all from Asian markets.

Ronaldo, Tom Cruise or Usain Bolt?

Good shouts.

I agree with those saying Putin and I'd also think Kim Jong un. I also think Trump too.

Maybe Harry and Meghan? They been to a lot of African counties and are well know in Europe, American and also I'd imagine Indonesia.
