Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

King Charles managed just fine without the drama.

Maybe Charles' video running through fields, staring into space by a tree and Camilla patting his hand will be out next week.

ThenYouCrossMe · 13/09/2024 22:10

This sounds like a couple of children talking about telling the teacher.

🤣 It was/is all very petty, but it's funny when someone is a hypocrite.

I was feeling very much not up to date with the lingo as notch was an insult I hadn’t heard . 🤣 It has potential though …

I don't remember any stories about Andrew and his appalling treatment of staff coming out ( barring the very public ramming of Pslace gates) until his fall from grace. We subsequently found out about how far his entitlement went, and how much he was indulged and protected by The Queen.

OMG yes.

And just see this. "a very royal Scandal" on Prime due any day, which will wipe the floor with him. Every other word is him telling servants to fuck off just for even walking in the room.

Can you imagine I'd rather not have that image in my head.

I am not a great supporter of the RF as an institution but the late great Queen was always extremely committed to her role as a public servant.

This video is pretty much the opposite of that. It's a tad self indulgent. She could have used her very public platform better, perhaps they could have partnered with one of the Cancer charities. They could have made this about cancer awareness. No, it's all a bit me me me. RF PR need to do better.

I definitely think they could have closed the chapter better, it's a duff advert.

As for comments about the King, we know he has cancer, there has been no mention of how well he is doing with it.
Just the same as there was zero mention of the late Queen having cancer or how her treatment was going.

Give it a rest, it is so boring now.

No can do I’m afraid! Deal with it.

What do you mean? Why do you have to compare to others? I want to talk about them. They are fully protected and we would not know how they treat their staff, what they are like, they are members of the royal family who are glossed. You don't know them. You might think you do but you don't

Of course I don't think I know them, how bizarre!! It just seems that anything that has come into the public domain has been favourable towards them, and staff have stayed with them for years. The comparison is obvious.

Ah really??? God you have a memory like an almanac! Bizarre - I couldn't tell you who gets posts deleted for what, especially "a few months ago"!!

And no, it wasn't me who reported, although I should have 😂😂😂

It stays in my head because you were laughed at so much for it. All because a few posters pointed out that you were obsessive about Meghan and Harry, and mumsnet said that saying you were obsessive didn't break guidelines. You weren't happy, called someone a notch and got deleted. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

How sad! I don't keep a personal record of posters' deletions.

Happily I have a great life beyond MN.

Carry on with it all then, you obviously know them personally🙄

You are not making any sense.

Well who is laughing now...!

StrangerOnThePlane · 13/09/2024 22:40

When I watched the video I just thought what the hell am I watching. It was very over produced and was like an advert. I agree that in her role, it seemed very self indulgent and that she should have mentioned the people who helped her and others who are suffering more. It was just a PR piece and I think most people can see that.

I agree - it was very commercial!

I did like Kate's interaction with her family and I did feel the sentiments were genuine, but it did feel a bit performing for the camera. On the one hand I liked it, but on the other it made me feel uncomfortable.

I remember that. It all got very heated and made it to a couple of other sites, that can not be mentioned. 😬

I don't like Harry and Meghan but there are quite a lot of posters who are obsessed with mentioning them.

Fortunately I have never been so juvenile as to recall posters who are nonentities, and not once have I ever laughed at a post being deleted.

Heated, yes. Did the whole thread get deleted in the end? It was very funny, I don't think mumsnet mods knew what was happening. 😂

TG I have a happy home life and great career so this bullshit has no impact on me!

Maybe William and Kate wish to re-invent their role. They don't want to do any more boring engagements. Just put out soft focus videos of their perfect family as a sop to the public and boost to their ego. Must have got themselves confused with influencers or even H&M.

friendlycat · 14/09/2024 00:01

I liked it. Sadly they are always wrong though. They stay quiet and that’s wrong. They are seen in a farmers market and that’s wrong. She puts a Mother’s Day photo out (albeit tweeked) and that’s wrong. They say nothing and that’s wrong.

She tries to impart some personal information and give an insight into her loving family and that’s wrong as well. They just can’t win in some people’s eyes. That’s understandable if you don’t want a monarchy, but lots of people do.
