Happy to see Princess Kate doing so well, but...

I'm really glad to see Kate doing so well, and I am glad she has finished chemo looking so healthy and happy. However my sister and I cannot stop laughing at the video Kensington Palace have just released.

We think the video has a striking resemblance to the Twilight films, only warm toned and shorter.

Narration - check
Holding hands while lying down in a meadow - check
Tree climbing - check
Stacks of logs - check
Dramatic sweeping shots of trees - check

I was waiting for William to say something really cringy while giving Kate a piggy back ride.

I think Catherine and William would actually, they seem decent kind people who treat people with manners and respect unlike some I could mention.

Do you go a day without mentioning 'others'. It's obsessive with some people.

Give it a rest, it is so boring now.

Agreed. She can keep her private sentiments private, but she is meant to serve a public role, and nothing about that video was for public benefit.

If she insists on a public video which is very self indulgent and OTT, then people are quite within their right to say 'what a load of manufactured, self indulgent wank' and to laugh at people feeling they've had some sort of intimate, behind the scenes look at their life.

How on earth do you know that?

I couldn't say that about any famous person, celebrity or member of the royal family. We don't know what they are like

The woman has just been through surgery and chemo and I think she's entitled to be glad and happy to be through the other side. I think she can be allowed that without having to think of others. Life isn't fair. I lost my own mother way too soon to cancer. That has no relevance whatsoever though to the PoW.

She can be happy and glad and make private family videos all about herself and be as self indulgent as she likes after what she's been through. If she wants to put a video out to the public, which she's able to do because of her role, then she should remember her role when doing it.

Bullshit.

That's an utterly disgusting post.

Saying what I see.

Well MN didn't like it any more than I, and most decent-minded people, did.

I think they are sufficiently exposed to make a judgement call. The feedback coming out is that they are decent and caring to their staff. They've not been accused of bullying...

Why couldn't she do it in private with her family and children. She talks about the small things we take for granted it's nice she feels that way but that's not the reality for a lot of people with cancer.

Quite. She didn't cut some family photos together and get her mum to make a home video. They hired a top ad agency to put that together. Why did they need to? Whats wrong with a short statement like they would have done in the old days? And nobody thought to say anything about any other people- people who helped her, people who help other people with cancer, support services nothing.

What do you mean? Why do you have to compare to others? I want to talk about them. They are fully protected and we would not know how they treat their staff, what they are like, they are members of the royal family who are glossed. You don't know them. You might think you do but you don't

And no, it wasn't me who reported, although I should have 😂😂😂

Probably because she was lambasted for keeping it private in the early days??

King Charles managed just fine without the drama.

Cheesecakelunch · 13/09/2024 22:05

I am not a great supporter of the RF as an institution but the late great Queen was always extremely committed to her role as a public servant.

This video is pretty much the opposite of that. It's a tad self indulgent. She could have used her very public platform better, perhaps they could have partnered with one of the Cancer charities. They could have made this about cancer awareness. No, it's all a bit me me me. RF PR need to do better.

CurlewKate · 13/09/2024 20:58

@Runnerinthenight really-it's nothing to get so excited about. No, I am not qualified, but I did have a very anxious boy child, and I feel I recognise the look. Incidentally- I don't think being anxious is anything to be ashamed of. Sounds as if you do.

Basic facial expression doesn’t require qualifications to interpret it anyway.

He may be a brave boy and become a strong king, but he does look as though he doesn’t hanker for the limelight.

It stays in my head because you were laughed at so much for it. All because a few posters pointed out that you were obsessive about Meghan and Harry, and mumsnet said that saying you were obsessive didn't break guidelines. You weren't happy, called someone a notch and got deleted. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Runnerinthenight · 13/09/2024 22:03

Yes I agree. I think this video was definitely an attempt to address and avoid the drama ( not of her making) that surrounded the early part of her ill health.

I don't remember any stories about Andrew and his appalling treatment of staff coming out ( barring the very public ramming of Pslace gates) until his fall from grace. We subsequently found out about how far his entitlement went, and how much he was indulged and protected by The Queen.

This sounds like a couple of children talking about telling the teacher.
