Keir Starmer "not naming my children"

Respect his stance not to allow pictures of his kids, fair enough, that is the decision he and his wife have made.

But the whole "i'm not publicly naming them" - you'd think as a former lawyer he'd know birth records are public record and anyone can find out in 30 seconds? So not the big secret he thinks it is?

And yet you've posted details about Boris Johnson's sex life from one of his ex lovers!

Have I? When did I do that?

Can you? I haven't managed to find free digitised birth records that go beyond 1998, on https://www.freebmd.org.uk/

I thought you had to go to a record office for anything newer than that?

Without naming them, there is a record of a boy born in Q3 2008 and a girl born in Q4 2010.

It took me about two minutes to find the names from an official government website.

Why would you even try??

I don't really understand your question. The previous poster said:

And I replied that, yes, you can. You can do it very simply and quickly.

Or perhaps you're asking why would somebody look for the birth records of other people generally?

Well, a lot of people are interested in tracing their family history (programmes like "Who Do You Think You Are?" are always popular) and being able to find birth certificates for people is a fairly standard thing.

Checking out the school options available to other peoples children is very weird thing to me @Clavinova.

I think this thread demonstrates that Starmer has made the right decision to protect his children's privacy.😬

Edited

You are saying is weird people are interested in seeing where his kids go after all the controversy of VAT added to private school? His kids surely attend a grammar or some post code lottery school. People would want to know purely because of this. Starmer knows he will be rip to pieces on this.

Oh dear. There have been plenty of threads where you could read responses to arguments like yours. I can't be bothered to repeat them here.

Great that you could be bothered to write that you couldn’t be bothered. ❤️

It’s enough to know they’re state educated. Why would he be ripped to pieces for practising what he preaches?

Is it? That seems a bit scary you can get recent details so easily. Not having a go just wondering why there's no time limit like older than 40 years or soemthing

Nice try but it is not the same going to a state school in a posh catchment area or one in a deprived area in London. Plus, if he is a millionaire opting for state education why it is not parents like him helping the state rather than the ones saving the state money by sending their kids to private school. This conversation is not going to stop anytime soon. The policy may as well be his downfall and he is being ripped to pieces in the news everyday already.

It’s not a “nice try”. He believes in state education and healthcare. If you think wealthy parents use private schools to save the state money you’re delusional. Obviously his kids go to a local school in Islington where the family home and his constituency are. Everyone seems to think their pet resented policy will be Labour’s downfall, pensioners would disagree with you.

BorisJohnsonsPhysique · 08/09/2024 20:49

Islington is not composed entirely of wealthy people either. Far from it.

JessyCarr · 08/09/2024 21:10

They are Camden people, not Islington.

BIossomtoes · 08/09/2024 21:20

Actually it’s Kentish Town.

Yes. Hence in the borough of Camden, and the constituency of Holborn & St Pancras.

We never did for Boris either. Grin

Slightly different circumstances, grant you...

Does Boris know how many children he has? Or is it just a range? Pick a number between 5 and 20….

If Starmer had named his children, he'd be getting flack for that too.

I think OP's job must be ferreting around on Ancestry or Findmypast.

Why would he get flak for that? I can't think of any PM who hasn't named his/her children. It goes with the job and if you want to keep your private life private, do something else.

Well it obviously doesn’t go with the job…..because he hasn’t done it….and likely won’t

newnamethanks · 09/09/2024 08:03

Not heard of Boris Johnson Freysimo?

What a load of rubbish. Several PMs kept their offspring out of the limelight. John Major for example. Can you name his children without looking them up?
Major was very good at keeping his private life private, as we found out years later.

I think that was just a sky news report he said something like - oh I've got a boy of 15 and.. a boy of 13, which his PR said later was just a slip of the tongue - I'd have thought it was just a slip, it would be a funny way to announce having a trans child.

No, he said he had “two sons.”

Efacsen · 09/09/2024 09:26

Whitetowelss · 09/09/2024 09:16

No, he said he had “two sons.”

He also referred to Sunak as the Prime Minister several times at PMQ last week - perhaps he has memory problems!!!!!!

newnamethanks · 09/09/2024 10:15

He also said, according to assorted gossip, he's got a new cat that's a bit like a dog. Are you sure you're not getting confused?

Who is your comment aimed at?

He was being filmed when he said he had two sons; you can watch it.

So if the comment was aimed at me, then, no, I am not confused…
