Is this really why women wear those sport's leggings?

According to dp it's to make other people look at their figure 🙄

I tried to argue that they are for practicality but I'm starting to think he's got a point.

I personally don't wear them and don't think I will if they will just make people stare at my bottom.

I think I've been quite naive.

Oh I wish I hadn't read this as it's going to make me paranoid now! I thought they were so tight to streamline and aid running? A bit like lycra for biking. I'd hate anybody to think that I was wearing them for the sake of a man.

I usually look like a sweaty pile of shite by the time I've finished in the gym anyway, the last thing I'm thinking about is men looking at me. I hope they don't. When I don't have the kids with me, I tend to go into the women's room. I wish that there was an all-female gym near me.

I can assure you they will be looking at you alright- whether you are thin or fat, they leave nothing to the imagination

Because it's difficult to run far in jeans.

There's a LOT of things to run in between jeans and scrunch bum leggings, most of which don't show the outline of your genitals.

Why are people obsessed with being able to see the “outline of somebody’s genitals”?

If people are comfortable wearing sports clothes that work for them then why can’t people leave them be.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 16/09/2024 12:01

I think that women largely do NOT want to see the outline of someone's genitals.

Anything that women wear that doesn't do that tends not to attract comment. This thread has quite a few posts confusing standard sportswear with the scrunch-bum stuff. It's not the same thing at all.

I can see that there are some men on this thread, of course. <creepy>

OurChristmasMiracle · 16/09/2024 12:07

Normal gym leggings I don’t see any issue with- I started wearing them because I was at the gym most days so on weekends if I went out for a coffee with a friend or lunch and was going gym on way home it just made sense and after my youngest they are just comfortable and easy to throw on (and I still try to get to the gym).

the butt scrunching ones are designed to make your bum look a certain way.

CharlotteBog · 16/09/2024 14:42

It's the subject of this thread.
I don't think anyone has been able to find a sport/comfort-related reason for women to wear the scrunch bum leggings. It's their choice obviously, but consensus seems to be that the wearer knows and is fine with people's gaze being drawn to their anus area.

No I don’t, I wear gym pants, thickish material as I don’t want a camels hoof at nearly sixty 😩
The scrunchy type, especially if there are a pale colour, makes it look as though the person is wearing nothing down below, specially if you can see the labia outline, I am embarrassed & embarrassed for the person that wears them

It’s not that people are obsessed- well I am not but I feel embarrassed when I see women wearing those pants. I don’t want a flue shoving in my face when I am sat down on the bus & that person is stood up close next to me.

People aren't obsessed with being able to see the outline of somebody's genitals, it's the complete opposite. People would rather not have to see them at all.

I wear gym leggings to work out because I would look stupid in jeans.

Your dp is a dirty pervert who thinks he can look at other women because they are asking for it by wearing trousers. HTH.

The OP isn't talking about normal leggings, she's talking about the one in which the arse is displayed with absolutly nothing left to the imagination-you can see what they had for breakfast.

I once heard a woman, who was wearing this indecent arse display item in a nude colour, turn to a man who was looking at her arse-we were all in a bus queue - and call him a perv, what he looking at etc. One of the women in the queue said

'He's looking at your arse. We all are. It's on display for people to look at. That's what you want and that's what you're getting.'

We all laughed and that is just the answer for women who go about displaying the whole of their arse as if they are a baboon in mating season and then complain when people look. Don't wear them if you don't want to make a free show of yourself.

@JaneEyreLaughing Good post. I can’t believe 14 pages in there is any confusion about the type of leggings the thread refers to.

BTW I’m off to the shops in my leggings and hoodie shortly. Same ones I wear to my exercise classes. Black stretch cotton mix. No exaggeration of any part of the anatomy.

The confusion arises because the title and the first post are not clear, and many people don't read much of a thread before replying.

When you get to a certain age you become invisible, but I can assure you if I was to wear those hideous pants, I would be certainly looked at by both sexes & not in a good way

Mt61 · 19/09/2024 13:07

GlowWurm · 06/09/2024 09:22

So that’s what’s going on with those leggings…I see them often around here and the wearers are never doing any kind of sport or exercise when wearing them, it’s a fashion thing to make your ass look porny.

As to the PP saying it never used to be a beauty standard, well anal sex porn never used to be the norm but it is now. These two are not unrelated.

If someone had an issue with normal leggings, that’s another issue. Those baboon scrunch leggings are totally different.

I would hate to be a young woman these days.

🤣

Ger1atricMillennial · 06/09/2024 00:11

I wear them because they are comfortable and practical and because I can. They actually don't suit me (I have no arse to speak of).

I find men who wear a well tailored suit very sexually attractive, but I don't assume they are wearing for my attention. I also am able to appreciate and not let it distract me as I go throughout my day, because I am not 15.

Oh come on, you can’t compare the two, two totally different outfits

Mt61 · 19/09/2024 13:44

Risingsun93 · 07/09/2024 18:44

Same, I also don't wear those. But I do wear sports leggings.

Trafford centre full of girls & woman wearing those scrunchie ones, enough to put me off my ice cream 🤣

Scrunch leggings are horrible. I've seen men wear them too and I seriously can't look at that before breakfast. Especially if they are on their backs leg lifting, there is nothing left to the imagination, it's the full butchers shop window.
