Is this really why women wear those sport's leggings?

According to dp it's to make other people look at their figure 🙄

I tried to argue that they are for practicality but I'm starting to think he's got a point.

I personally don't wear them and don't think I will if they will just make people stare at my bottom.

I think I've been quite naive.

Sorry but that made me think, "Is this the start of a porn film?"

Scene one: Lesbians working out together.

I live in hope! 🤣

felissamy · 06/09/2024 09:34

It's the super flares or padded shoulders of future...something we will cringe at and mock.

CeeJay81 · 06/09/2024 09:36

I'd never wear those kind of leggings! but I also definitely don't need too. I do live in leggings a lot though because of my very shapely butt, nothing else fits well. I agree those leggings are more to give a certain look rather than for comfort and are not like normal leggings.

GymRegret · 06/09/2024 09:46

I don't think dp meant it in a pervy way. As a lot of you have agreed, it's hard not to notice!
Not just men are looking either.

I just didn't automatically make that connection. My first thought when I saw them was ' they look nice and soft to sit down in' 😂

Right.

So all men wear cycling shorts so we have to stare at their package and admire it then?

Rather than, it's practical for cycling.

Berlinlover · 06/09/2024 09:53

Regular leggings are worn for comfort. Those horrendous leggings that show the labia are worn for attention.

magicmole · 06/09/2024 09:56

Agree. I’ve been looking for longer baggier shorts I can wear to the gym that my husband wears but I can’t find any made for women. Baggier running shorts are still too short to do leg presses so either I have to wear skin tight longer shorts or leggings or loose shorts which show everything when I’m on the machines!

Trail runner here and it infuriates me that running shorts for women are always cut so short. Men get an inseam that's 7 or 8 inches while women get one that's only 2 inches. I just want to exercise and not have to think about whether I'm flashing my crotch while I'm doing it. Board shorts can be longer but they're too baggy for running and as you say, no good in the gym either.

So these days I sometimes wear men's '2 in 1' shorts that have a compression liner like cycling shorts. Don't know if something like that would work for you? There are lined shorts for women out there too but again I find them a bit short.

I spend far too much money on some gear (like waterproof jackets which actually are waterproof!) but the best-fitting pair of lined shorts I've got came from the men's range at Aldi or Lidl.

He is right

RIVERDALEHIGH · 06/09/2024 10:05

You husband sounds like a misogynist pig, does he really think all women think about is how they appear to men and that influences how they dress?

I wear leggings because I like them, they're comfortable etc...

I have never ever dressed to please a man, if anything, I dress for other women. I love seeing a well dressed woman and thinking, yeah I love that outfit, she looks great and hope other women would think the same about me!

MumblesParty · 06/09/2024 10:07

Normal leggings = comfortable, practical especially for sport
Bum-accentuating leggings = everyone look at my bum

Jacopo · 06/09/2024 10:11

It’s so funny how fashions in body shape change. When we used to ask the classic question ‘Does my bum look big in this?’ we were hoping for the answer be ‘No’. Now people want it to be ‘Yes’.

SockSensation · 06/09/2024 10:11

I wear running tights a lot because I run a lot and will be wearing them for the things I'm doing before and after.

Going "out out" in leggings that are designed to disappear up your crack, I don't understand, unless it's for sexual attention, TBH (which women are perfectly entitled to seek, if that's what they want BTW)

Katiesaidthat · 06/09/2024 10:12

I think your partner is absolutely right, and I am a woman. Regular leggings, alsorts wear them for comfort, the one that separates and highlights your private parts, yes are worn for attention.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 06/09/2024 10:16

Newsenmum · 06/09/2024 08:43

Have you seen the leggings she is referring to?

Oh, yes. I've seen the leggings and was laughing at the poster who said

Your dp is a dirty pervert who thinks he can look at other women because they are asking for it by wearing trousers. HTH

I mean because it's a stretch to get to that from observing the 'look at me' baboon leggings

Jennyathemall · 06/09/2024 10:17

Cas112 · 06/09/2024 09:17

Course he's presuming women dress for men🙄

Why is it so hard for you and some women on here to accept that some women, sometimes, do indeed dress to attract male attention. I certainly have/do on occasion. Usually for my husband these days.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 06/09/2024 10:24

In some cultures the men encourage their women to cover up (sometimes even including the face) to proclaim their ‘modesty’. Other cultures encourage their women to dress very revealingly, to proclaim their sexual availability.

Two cheeks of the same arse, so to speak.

If you really think young women don't wear scrunch bum leggings for attention then you're extremely naive. I wear them to the gym and I'm fully aware of the focus my backside is getting.

YellowAsteroid · 06/09/2024 10:29

if have gym shorts from Primark which come down to just above my knees. Even in size S.

For my legs very unflattering - I prefer them shorter! Sorry the cheap and cheerful Primark ones - they’re seamless and weirdly cut but it doesn’t matter cos they’re stretchy

Does make you wonder what women’s fashion would look like with no men in the world? 🤔

Scrunch butt leggings have definitely been designed to accentuate the arse. And I can’t think of any reason to do that other than for draw attention to it.

I really want to start buying so gym shark leggings for the gym as I love some of their prints ...but they all have the scrunch butt which I don't want! I wish they would do more without them!

Benshawsberries · 06/09/2024 10:38

Pippifer · 05/09/2024 23:22

Why do men think everything women do is for them. Gross. Just let me have my leggings and hoodie and leave us alone.

This 💯

DissidentDaughter · 06/09/2024 10:41

I think some women underestimate the power of a bit of mystery when it comes to attraction. Beyond the confines of the gym those arse-crack numbers shriek ‘neediness in vulgar clothing’. Far from empowering.

I think cycling shorts are more comparable with normal leggings. The scrunch leggings would be more like cycling shorts which were designed so that you could clearly see the size of the cock and the balls, which I think most would say were indecent attention seeking.

Yes, excellent example.

Please no one make this a thing 😩 Thankfully it won’t because that isn’t how the world functions.
