Are you a morning or evening showerer?

Got into a lighthearted debate about this…the evening showerers say it’s unclean to get into bed after not washing all day. The morning showerers say it’s better to start the day as clean as possible, not many hours after your last shower.

The exH used to prefer me to smell of "the scent of complete womanhood". He must have read that in a book somewhere. So I showered in the morning.

Morning bath.

I'd not have the time. I like to just lay in the bath and wouldn't be arsed to get up 😂

WTAFisthisnonsense · 03/09/2024 10:47

Always morning - we all sweat when asleep and often evening too. I love a shower.

Lala87 · 03/09/2024 10:47

A bit of both. I find morning wakes me up properly. I'll also have an evening one if I feel particularly grubby after keeping up with my toddler all day

WhichWallpaper · 03/09/2024 10:48

Evening.

ShillyShallySherbet · 03/09/2024 10:49

I shower in the morning, it wakes me up and gets me ready for the day. If I have been doing anything strenuous or it’s been really hot and sweaty I’ll have an evening shower instead. For some reason I find I shower much more quickly in the morning, in the evening I don’t want to get out!

Ineedanewsofa · 03/09/2024 10:50

Not all showers (or baths) are created equal - ‘everything’ showers are an evening event, post exercise showers are determined by when the exercise take place.
Mornings are P&B washes only, whether that is a shower, or a sink and flannel job, is up to you 😊

RaraRachael · 03/09/2024 10:50

Evening. I'm retired now but still keep to this as I just have my shower after dinner then get into my nightwear.

When there were 4 of us it would have been impossible to get everyone showered and ready in the morning without getting up at about 5am!

MissEloiseBridgerton · 03/09/2024 10:55

Depends. Work days I shower in the morning, days off usually later on once I've done the school run, and done all my jobs, I'll maybe shower before lunch.

GameOfJones · 03/09/2024 10:56

I've always been an evening showerer. Purely because I have more time then and I like to put body lotion on and get into comfortable clothes/pyjamas straight after a shower.

Whenever I do shower in the morning I absolutely hate waiting for lotion to dry or wrestling myself into bra/jeans etc straight afterwards.

I'm not a particularly sweaty sleeper though. In the summer I may have a quick pits and bits flannel wash first thing in the morning if it's been hot overnight.

FortunataTagnips · 03/09/2024 11:01

Morning, though I’ll have an extra one in the evening if I feel I need it.
I usually have a splash in the bidet (get me!) before bed anyway.

HardWorkToWatch · 03/09/2024 11:02

Evening. I don’t feel it’s unclean to get into bed without showering. Just ever since I was a kid it was my routine to wash after dinner and get pjs on, so that’s what I do.

I don’t like getting up earlier than needed and hate rushing around in the mornings so it works for me.

BeerForMyHorses · 03/09/2024 11:05

Morning shower, evening bath

outdooryone · 03/09/2024 11:12

Morning.
But, if I have been for run / bike ride / sweaty in garden etc I will also shower again through the day

Mintgum · 03/09/2024 11:14

Both morning and night twice a day.

BadLad · 03/09/2024 11:14

Both. But if I could only pick one, it would be morning.

Morning shower, evening bath

This.

I like to wash the day away before sleeping.

I also shower after swimming or other exercise, and if needed, like if I've got particularly grimy in the garden. But for me, a shower is functional whereas a bath is also relaxing.

rainsofcastamere · 03/09/2024 11:14

Morning shower, evening bath!

Toothrush · 03/09/2024 11:16

I prefer a morning shower, but the evenings I have netball or do my workouts later in the day then have one in the evening. I change bedding regularly though and don't seem to get too dirty even if I get into bed without showering?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 03/09/2024 11:16

Both. Feels yuk to get into bed dirty then a morning shower wakes me up. Sometimes even have a shower after work as well!

spikeandbuffy24 · 03/09/2024 11:20

Evening because I exercise after work so it makes sense

HungryLittleCrocodile · 03/09/2024 11:21

Neither - but also both.

I shower every single morning before I do anything (when I get up.) And when I've been for a walk I come back and have one too. (Or if I've been doing a lot of cleaning/housework, or gardening.)

If I feel I need one, I have one. Can't bear feeling grimy and sweaty. Often (if it's a daytime shower and not a-first-thing-in-the-morning one,) it's only a minute to 90 seconds long. It's just a 'freshen-up shower!'

isrhisall · 03/09/2024 11:25

Often both. Not because I'm a clean freak or anything but because I wake so early for work and I'm not a morning person at all so the shower wakes me up.
By the time I'm home from work I'm a sweaty mess as I do an active role so have to do it again! It's quite tedious and obviously makes the water bill higher.
On weekends it's only once whenever I feel like it or sometimes not at all for a day.

AnotherEmma · 03/09/2024 11:25

Morning, because I get sweaty at night Blush And because a shower wakes me up! I like to feel clean and ready for the day.

I'll skip a morning shower if I'm going to the beach or pool, as I obviously shower after that.

In the summer if it's been a hot and sweaty day I'll have a second shower in the evening. But apart from that, I don't seem to get too dirty or sweaty during the day and am too tired/lazy to shower before bed!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/09/2024 11:34

Often both, depending when I have exercised.
