How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

Gonna be like Taylor Swift ticketmania again! Shock

How I long for the days when you could just buy tickets from the venue you wanted to go to. I used to just pop to the concert venue my kids and I went to - to see bands, and just buy the tickets at the 'box office.' (In the noughties.) Then we'd just rock up there an hour before it started, and get in the queue and waltz in reasonably quick.

I would HATE this shit now. I like Oasis, but really CBA to faff around trying to get tickets with it being such a ballache to get them these days. Queueing online for days, got to get codes, keep buffering and getting booted out, tearing your hair out being thrown to the back of the queue again.

And even if you do get tickets, it's an expensive trip to go see them. Like 100s of £££... (Some Swifties paid 4 figures in total with everything,) with the travel costs, and the hotel, and the memorabilia they bought, and the overpriced ticket price of course. Nah mate, fuck that! Wink

I saw them at Glastonbury and it was so flat - not musically just the vibe. No audience rapport at all. Swanned on, sang, didn’t speak to the audience or each other (Liam and Noel deliberately turning away from each other). Even the big fans around us in front of the pyramid stage were not feeling it. I’m genuinely surprised by the mad desire to see them.

Most Swifties didn’t. Everyone I know paid from £68 to £250 per ticket. We paid £97 including the booking fee. Media suggested everyone was paying thousands but that was the touts not normal sale.

Not that unusual for these venues.

It is for Heaton Park, I saw New Order there a couple of years ago and the tickets were £55 inc booking fee!!

Ummm, if you don't think that £250 is overpriced for a concert ticket, then you have a blessed life .... Shock (Even £97 is a bit overpriced IMO, which I am guessing is the LOWEST price?!) 😳

Portfun24 · 29/08/2024 23:27

We want four tickets. Everyone I know wants tickets I've already accepted it likely won't happen. Seen Liam four times and can't really stand Noel anyway so it is what it is. Not bothered if we don't.

Octonautstotherescue · 29/08/2024 23:28

Saw them live the first time
They had a fight on stage.
Liam stormed off
Noel had to play a guitar solo for 20 minutes until someone persuaded Liam to come back.
Maybe age will have mellowed them…

TeenLifeMum · 29/08/2024 23:29

@HeySummerWhereAreYou that was the people who chose vip tickets and got the £75 hoodie included etc totally their choice. There were different price points, and as I said, I paid £97 - 7 years ago I saw Beyoncé and paid £92 so I think that’s fairly standard. Similar to see Pink and Ed Sheeran. Taylor also performed for over 3 hours so basically the same as 2 gigs for most performers.

£56 was the lowest price so you guessed wrong. Maybe you just have no concept how much stuff costs. London theatre tickets can easily be £100 but you can get cheaper depending on seats and show.

Also, I’m a 42 yo woman so please do one with the patronising phrases.

I think you are a bit out of touch …it’s not just concert tickets….everything has increased in price last few years ……I’m guessing you don’t get out much?

PTSDBarbiegirl · 29/08/2024 23:35

Gone right off the idea now and cba with the hassle. A lot of hassle in trying to organise where to stay too. I’ve seen them 3 times, twice were epic and third was great fun, good band but not enough to justify the hassle. They are both loaded now and could insist on a reasonable rate for tix but it’s being milked big time.

QueenBitch666 · 29/08/2024 23:37

If you get tickets take a rain coat. It'll be full of coked up middle aged twats chucking piss around. Their fan base aren't exactly known for their intellect

Timeforaglassofwine · 29/08/2024 23:42

I want to go, it'll be a brilliant first gig for my teenagers. I'm not sure how logistics will work though, we'll go by train and will have to stop in a hotel. I'm horrified to see that the nearby Premier Inns are £300+ prpn in the areas the night of the gigs!

RedToothBrush · 29/08/2024 23:44

I saw Oasis back in the day. A lot. As in every tour since 95 usually more than once. I queued for hours overnight for tickets in the past and did the dreaded refresh of doom. I knew all the site shortcuts to get tickets (which no longer exist).

My first prediction is anyone who hasn't seen the ticket prices will go into meltdown when they do. How much....?!

My second prediction that everyone who hasn't got a ballot code by 8am tomorrow is going to have a meltdown in the morning. Either because they didn't get a code or because they didn't even know about the ballot and the presale.

I am then expecting more fan meltdown about 9.15 tomorrow when the first tickets appear on resale sites. Before the main sale starts.

Now I've been on the mailing list since 1995 and didn't get an automatic ballot slot which some did who got a message saying they have been identified as a loyal fan. So more meltdown potential then.

The band management have said you can receive your ballot code any time until 5pm tomorrow. So I think if you get a ballot code you should be able to get tickets as they won't over issue ballot spaces too much.

At some point in the next couple of days, probably just before the main sale Saturday 8.50am Ticketmaster and Gigsandtours will go into meltdown through the servers being overloaded.

Cue more fan meltdown.

So I'm expecting potentially several hours of trying to get tickets to be typical for anyone who attempts it.

But I would be surprised if more dates in addition to the additional dates already announced (additional dates BEFORE the presale due to exceptional demand does not bode well for a smooth and slick ticket sale process)

So basically there's two days of Oasis meltdown ahead and all those people whining and whinging that the Oasis tour isn't newsworthy will have cat bottom mouths on Saturday. And still swear blind that it's not newsworthy despite it being a record breaking sale of some description (the criteria of how it breaks records hasn't been made up as a marketing and publicity plan just yet, that's the job management have to work on over the weekend).

Yes so a massive meltdown incoming.

RedToothBrush · 29/08/2024 23:48

Oh and it's going to piss it down in Manchester in mid July so the first night will be mud fest and they'll still be another 5 nights to go. Those VIP area benches and bean bags will be fucked by the second Sunday.

So everyone can go into meltdown about that.

Yeah I never leave the house me. And I spend 15 hours a day pissing about on the internet, whilst sitting in my pyjamas and carpet slippers, and eating Greggs pasties and Big macs. 🙄

Utter hermit I am. I know naff-all about the outside world. The newest car I have seen is a 2010 plate. 🙄

I stand by what I say, anyone who thinks £250 isn't overpriced for a concert ticket, leads a blessed life. I seem to have hit a raw nerve saying that, but I stand by it. Don't act like you have a tough life. If you think ticket prices like this are not overpriced, you are very fortunate...

Kitkat1523 · 29/08/2024 23:50

Been on a few SM sites….most people seem fine with paying the 148 for Heaton park…..and the other venues have seats from 73 quid which no one is complaining about

RedToothBrush · 29/08/2024 23:50

XmasEveshopper · 29/08/2024 22:45

is the Saturday sale limited to 4 tickets each as well as the presale? I’m trying to get 5 but don’t know if that’s possible. Any ideas on how best to do that? Wasn’t successful with the presale code unfortunately.

It is STRICTLY four PER HOUSEHOLD. And yes I've known people have tickets cancelled before over this. It is not four per person, it's per Household.

Went to see depeche mode with DH, his choice, and was surprised at the number of coked up 50 year old twats.

An Oasis gig will have many many more....

Bernadinetta · 29/08/2024 23:56

Not everyone who has registered for pre-sale will be successful in getting access to the pre-sale. “Ballot winners” will be contacted tomorrow to be given further instructions. If you haven’t heard by 5pm tomorrow, assume you haven’t been selected for pre-sale access (the wording from the email).

RedToothBrush · 29/08/2024 23:59

Kitkat1523 · 29/08/2024 22:49

No one knows if they’ve got a pre sale code yet

Yes they do.

A small number of people seem to have got an automatic spot in the presale. But they haven't got a code yet as far as I am aware (doesn't seem to be a social media meltdown as people receive their codes whilst others haven't as yet)

Most people have to wait and see if they are lucky enough to get a ballot slot rather than get one of these automatic slots.

I'm going to stress this now. This will be repeated in block capitals fairly rapidly tomorrow.
The official oasis social media accounts are saying you may receive this code anytime before 5pm tomorrow even though the presale starts at 9am.

So if you have not got one by 9am it's probably not a disaster just yet - you may still get one.

They are clearly going to release codes in batches as sales progress tomorrow. And it strikes me if you get a ballot you should get tickets (but I don't know this for sure yet).

If you didn't sign up for the pre-sale before Wednesday night you can't enter it now. They extended the deadline for confirmation emails for people who had signed up before the deadline but hadn't been able to click on the link for confirmations.

So if you didn't know about the presale, you were on the snooze and clearly liked Blur too much.

I want to.go too..love their music but they are arrogant . The other day I happened to think about their name snd the arrogance of it- never dawned on me before. Accommodation prices have gone through the roof- probably won't be able to go-😥 Stevie Wonder and Oasis were the two I defo wanted to see. Srevie was great. Oh well.

What do you mean about their name?

Where does it say the presale starts at 9am tomorrow? Certainly not on their twitter site

JanglingJack · 30/08/2024 00:06

Dabralor · 29/08/2024 21:51

I got the video of them doing a live concert during their definitely maybe phase. It was circa 1997.

They were the dullest live performers ever- honestly you'd be best sticking the music on spotify and then watching a photo for ninety minutes, it will be just as animated and you'll save $$$.

They toured in our hometown after releasing Supersonic. Nobody could get a ticket as they filled the 200 people venue with their friends.
That would have been quite something, but unlike the OP, I couldn't imagine anything worse than seeing them now or post 1992 due to the rise of lad culture that came with them. Dirge.

Demonhunter · 30/08/2024 00:06

Honestly, I personally wouldn't waste the money, purely for the hype of being there. I saw them in the 90s a couple of times and then saw them on 2009 on the last stadium tour before they split and the difference was huge.

They were young enthusiastic bucks in the 90s, it was the Britpop/Indie era and people were still buzzing from the end of the Madchester era and were loving all the bands that followed.
In 2009, music was still good, but you could see by their faces and the tone of voice speaking that they couldn't be arsed, a bit like how Ian Brown became.
