How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

Hope the internet copes with the demand at 7pm. I've got a film to watch then!!

It will only be a small percentage….maybe sound 100,000 people ?? Or less?

Rather than getting in a panic over oasis why don’t you go and see other bands? There are gigs on every night of the year, some good, some not so much, some cheap, some more expensive. Live music is great, get out and see some.

Going to Oasis or any other band doesn't exclude anyone from seeing other live bands, that's a pretty reductive stance, sure Coldplay were for all intents & purposes busking here in Dublin on Grafton Street the other evening, is that unfair on the local buskers?

As far as I can make out aslong as you're in queues for different dates then it's okay. But there's so many instructions it's confusing me !

Once you're in the queue on as many devices that you have just DO NOT refresh your page cos it will send you back to the start of the queue

Lincslady53 · 30/08/2024 18:07

I went to see them at Maine Road. One of the best concerts I have been to. Applied for the pre sale ballot. Nope. Can I be bothered to log on tomorrow? Probably not. Too much faff.

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 30/08/2024 18:34

I went to see them a few times, and once when they came on and the crowd swayed forward, I got lifted out of my trainers and never saw them again 😂

You couldn't pay me to watch them now mind you.

Me too. At their absolute peak then.
I won’t be even attempting to buy tickets as I only loved their first two albums.
£150 to stand? No chance.
There will be an inevitable docu series and film of it all later - I will have a look at them.
For me they were very much of a time in my life that I loved. But it would be like watching This Life or watching TFI Fridays again!
I get the appeal, seeing the brothers together again, but the hype is getting nauseating already.
They will make a mint.

This is why I never go to concerts. I miss being able to turn up to gigs I fancy and the cost is just eye-watering, even if you do manage to navigate this insane online systems. You expect something like going to the opera to be pricey but pop concerts just seem in a different league of expense (and don't get me started on premier league football).

I was watching Buffy with the kids the other day and they were so excited by the idea of a local venue like the Bronze with a different band every weekend, where you can just turn up, see your friends, hang out, make out with someone, get eaten by a vampire have a dance and a laugh and go home without being flat broke at the end of the night. Do those places even exist anymore? Student unions?

Go to smaller gigs! Plenty of amazing stuff that isn't hyped up to nonsense levels every night of the week in most cities.

I saw them at Knebworth back in the day. Very good at the time. But we know what will happen regarding tickets now...sold out in 4 minutes, people complaining the website crashed, tickets on sale an hour later x10 the price. It will happen...always does.

MarvellousMonsters · 30/08/2024 19:01

Why would you want to? Their music is annoying and they are a pair of knobheads.

Find a Spotify playlist of decent 90s music and save yourself a load of cash

MissMoan · 30/08/2024 19:17

Maybe apply to work on the show as security / catering / crew. It's not ideal, but at least you will get to be there.

GuessingGownaGoGo · 30/08/2024 19:36

Another thing that's putting me off is that photo of them on ticketmaster. the more often I see it the more I think 'god you really reckon yourself don't you'.

That and the fact that Noal did not dance at all to LCD soundsystem at glastonbury - even though he was right amongst it!

8 people I know now have been sucessful…..all getting tickets for Heaton park …..seems to have been the easiest sale as it’s all standing

Purpl · 30/08/2024 20:06

there are tickets already up for sale where touts have bought on presale on stub hub. £542 upwards if anyone wants to pay that. i’m going to try tomorrow someone has to get through after all.

Ticketmaster is fine with you having multiple tabs open and in multiple queues. Not sure about being signed in on multiple devices doing it though.

I couldn't do it for Bruce Springsteen, I seem to remember a notice about not being logged in on multiple devices

northdownsouth7 · 30/08/2024 20:10

I was lucky enough to get the pre-sale link. I joined the waiting room at 6.45PM and at 7PM was told I was number 9700 in the queue….! The numbers went down fairly quickly though and bought my tickets at 7.25PM for Wembley on 26th July. I think it’s all possible but would say to follow the advice on the site I.e. join the waiting room beforehand and make sure all your card details are up to date. Tomorrow will obviously be busier but wanted to give some hope that it’s definitely possible. Good luck everyone!

Like I said earlier, over hyped mediocrity, not worth the hassle, particularly if touts are going to take the absolute piss with scam prices.

I saw Oasis at Glasto in 90s. They were arrogant and crap. Despite the fact I liked their music, Im not going to this tour, but have just spent a chunk of my life in the presale queue getting tickets for my 17 year old and her friends who are desperate to go but none of whom got a presale code.

As a veteran ticket buyer, just make sure you click on the date you want sometime just prior to the time tickets are released. Sit in the queue. Don’t refresh. There are apparently 80000 for each Mcr gig so I’d imagine there is a good chance you will get a ticket if you are on it.

greenel · 30/08/2024 20:49

Managed to get tickets in the pre-sale link and tbh it was a lot less hassle than getting tickets to some other gigs that sold out in minutes. Bicep at Ally Pally sold out in 10 mins because they just had 2 shows. Oasis have loads. Pretty sure there were still Wembley tickets left in the pre-sale even 45 mins after it opened.

I didn't do anything dramatic - just had one tab open on my laptop, had already set up my Ticketmaster account and payment details to make it easier to get through. The queue number is randomly allocated so not much you can do about it, but at least it makes it fairer. I wouldn't stress over multiple tabs, devices etc - in fact at pre-sale they actively discouraged it with threats of booting people out of the queue.

I grew up with Oasis, obsessively listened to them, but they never performed in my home country. I moved to the UK just as they were disbanding. I still remember a chance to watch them back in July 2009 at Wembley, tickets were £50 back then but I was too broke to afford it then (between jobs). Figured I'd get a chance once I was actually earning - hahahaha. So here we are 16 years later, back at Wembley! No way am I going to miss this.

Bands live can be so hit and miss though, it's impossible to predict. They haven't performed in 16 years either. I watched the Red Hot Chilli Peppers when they were last in London and it was the best they'd ever been - when I was expecting them to be a bit mumbley and out of it as always. Almost like they sobered up in their old age and weren't twats anymore. Alex Turner/Arctic Monkeys on the other hand was awful, like a lounge lizard, when he was supposed to be at his prime.

Now I just hope they don't have a bust up and cancel the tour!

Oasis have released a statement saying any tickets appearing anywhere other than ticketmaster and twickets will be cancelled and tickets being sold for more than face value on those sites will also ne cancelled.

I saw them live a few years ago, must have been not long before they split, Kasabian were supporting. I can’t remember if they were good or not, I’ve not got much of a memory of their actual set so it can’t have been that good it blew me away or that bad that I remember as a worse gig. What I do remember is lots of pints of piss being thrown everywhere though

yes apparently Oasis/noel/Liam Gallagher gigs are well known for piss being thrown. my friend has been to many of their gigs and always says she comes home covered in piss that's been thrown every time.
Its kind of put me off wanting to go.
Everyone that is going be prepared for this!

Lolaandbehold · 30/08/2024 21:52

I saw them in LA back in '98. It was a secret gig, think maybe a couple of hundred people, think it was Paramount Studios. I remember thinking that they weren't that great live.

onwardsup4 · 30/08/2024 22:19

You know what I never listen to oasis it's just one of them, too emotional but literally soundtrack to my youth. Was going to ignore it till my sister informed me we needed tickets.
I NEED them tickets now 😂 got slide away on as we speak
