How the fuck is this going to happen (oasis)

Myself and dh would love to go next year. As would most of the country I'm guessing ha ! The last concert I went to was Britney when I was 10 so I'm new to ticketmaster. Just reading through some threads on Reddit and I'm seriously thinking how the fuck are we even going to be in with a chance of getting tickets with the lengths some people go to?! Multiple devices, different WiFi connections, different sites etc etc
Why can't it just be simple ?? I know it's probably not going to happen for us but it does make me sad, Oasis wasn't my era, I was a child in the 90's but I do love their music and would love to see them live !

Saw them live in the 90s. Worst gig I’ve ever been to. They are very boring, no crowd interaction and the crowd were unpleasant. Lots of fighting, bottle throwing, very drunk men everywhere. Best live band I saw in the 90d was Radiohead who I thought would be boring but were amazing! Save your money and effort and just listen to them on your stereo.

Nobody will be reselling in demand tickets on Twickets for face value.

All you ever get on there are FV or below for low demand events.

That's just not true. All sorts of artist's tickets come up on Tickets. Springsteen tickets were coming up last year, he's hardly low demand.

I buy and sell on there quite a bit.

It was going to be 9am. But they may well shift it back due to the ballot already going badly wrong. No confirmation either way. Its highly unusual to start a presale of such a size on a Friday at 5pm purely because when the servers melt there's isn't the IT support still in the office and 5pm is Friday is a time when it's more at risk of meltdown because more people are about to login simultaneously. It's got disaster written all over it. Having being familiar with Oasis ticket sales I'll be more surprised if things went smoothly.

The modern Ticketmaster never ending queue of doom isn't an improvement on the complete site meltdowns of the past...

If the presale starts at 5pm ensure you have snacks and a deliveroo close to hand... You may be there sometime.

If it starts earlier, don't expect to get any work done and have a plan for when the office locks up and you are now just 1000th in the queue having started at 185234534th in the queue. (Yes of course there are that many oasis fans and absolutely no bots. They've all got 20 tabs each open).

(I may be cynical and feeling my trauma returning from previous attempts to get Oasis tickets here).

I'm actually going off the idea, especially thinking about the stadium family vibe and the possiblility of having to sit down - where's the fun in sitting down???

I'd be gutted if I spent £600 getting 4 tickets, £200 on travel, then they played for nowt at Glastonbury a month earlier

It was never announced as 9am pre sale anywhere to my knowledge??….it was a case of wait for your 9am email….which is now an up to 5pm email.

the presale will be over and done with in minutes…..I’m a Glastonbury regular i know a thing or 2 about brutal ticket sales……I’m not in work so any time is good with me

try for Heaton park…it’s standing only

I don't live up that way anymore, otherwise I would

So will the pre-sale commence for all successful ballot applicants with a code at the same time, irrespective of when they actually receive the code? Which means a 5pm or 6pm start time? I am assuming that Ticket Master will have extra IT support available to manage the influx. Do you know how the ballot is selected, is it completely random? What proportion of entrants are successful? Is there any formula at all to it?

And I don't know anything about ticket sales at all... Nope. Not at all. Its not flashbacks I'm getting at all.

The fun is, you are less likely to get piss in your eye. But only mildly less likely. I think your risk of getting caught up in a fight is significantly reduced though. I mean that's where the fun is at an Oasis gig is, right?

Heaton park has a 50:50 chance of becoming mud fest.

I was just thinking that sounds much more appealing than getting to a muddy field hours before they play, and being surrounded by obnoxious twats throwing ‘yellow rain’! Comfy seat any day - I’m getting on a bit 😜

A muddy field on Sunday 20th after it's pissed it down since a week last Monday and they've already had at least four gigs since.

It's Manchester after all.

I do not envy the good people of Prestwich and Crumpsall.

I would guess the presale will be the same time for everyone…..I would say after 6pm….if they not guaranteeing all emails be sent u til 5pm …..other than that I couldn’t hazard a guess ….there’s still no presale option on Ticketmaster …..I’m guessing even if you have a code there will be no guarantees…..fastest fingers first

What is all this "throwing piss" about??!?

Is it a tradition at their gigs or something?

My love. I'm a vet. I've been in the Oasis trenches down the front.

I've thanked my lucky stars for being a short arse with tall blokes behind me as a piss shield.

I have done my time on the refresh of doom.

I saw the bouncer get his head kicked in one December morn outside the Apollo, by some Fuck Nugget off his head (I don't think he was an oasis fan - just a druggie). That was a long cold hard night. But I came back with the goods. My mates were pissed at that but they wimped out and I was like Cinderella.

I know nothing. Nothing at all!!!!

But yerp Master of Glasto, I bow before your experience.

Nope. Just Oasis, the Stone Roses and the Charlies really.

Nah there is piss throwing at most gigs now. The Courteeners was one of the worst I've seen for it.

Fastest fingers? Na. It's more like a war of attrition. Who can survive the longest on the Ticketmaster queue of doom without going loopy. Its like the final of Survivor. Who can cling on longest. No one else is actually getting tickets, it just a test to see who the nutters fans are.

Not that unusual for these venues.

Standing room only in a park where people throw pints of piss around and having to use portaloos…. Is not a venue!

Demonhunter · 30/08/2024 00:56

Hmm I don't think it's all gigs but there's definitely a 'type' of gig. The courteeners have had issues with crowds letting off flairs before - they are amongst the worst behaved crowds tbh. It comes to something when a band have had to put out warnings not to bring explosives or smoke bombs into gigs in the past. (If you aren't familiar with this Google it - it's really been an issue as mad as it sounds).

Chucklit · 30/08/2024 01:08

Eep. Is it really worth the price?
I mean, diehard fans of other bands who hadn't toured for 10 years paid over a hundred standing to see a pyrotechnic dream and got every penny of their moneys worth.
Oasis, really?
They're only doing it for the money, that's not hard to see. Beige music and famous mullets. Bleurgh. Do people really think it's worth it?

Passwordsaremynemesis · 30/08/2024 01:08

I saw about five minutes of Oasis by mistake at Glastonbury years ago. They were absolutely dire. I’d rather eat my own feet than go and see them now, if they even turn up. I was always team Blur anyway, although as others have said, Pulp were better. But good luck getting tickets, if that’s your bag!
