If you are tall - did your children grow to be?

I'm just over 5 feet 9 and my exh is 6 feet tall. Son is over 6 feet at 13 and 10 year old DD over five feet

I know they are going to be tall - but how tall! What was your experience?

I'm 5ft 7.
Daughters Dad was 5ft8.
Daughter 1 is 5ft 6
Daughter 2 is 5ft 8.

My Teen Grandsons are very tall and thin.. 5ft 11 on average yet their Dad and Grandad isn't.
My Dad was 5ft 9
Mum 5ft 4.
Sisters and me in order.

Similar to you, I'm 5ft 9, DP is 6ft.

DS is 14 and about 5ft 10/11.
DD is 10 and easily 5ft now (taller than the majority of her friends)

It'll be weird being the shortest in about 3 years time 🤣

We are both 5'10" and adult DS is 6'1".

I was 5,5 at 10…..my adult height is 5,6 …..so you never really can tell

I'm 5'10" and DH is 6'4"

DD is 6'1" (finished growing)
DS hasn't finished growing but is about 5'7" at 12

Both my parents were small. My mum was 5ft 1". My dad was 5ft 7". I ended up the same height as my dad, so fairly tall for a woman. My sister was an inch shorter than me and my brother is 6ft. So clearly parental height doesn't always mean anything, whether tall or small😃

I’m 5’3, but DH and his brothers are all within an inch of each other at 6’.
My adult sons are all 6’1-6’4 and all their cousins on that side are talk.
My sibling and his wife are both short, and their children are also short( 5’5 m and 5’ F).
All my sons were taller than me by 10 or 11, but one of their cousins didn’t have his growth spurt till about 15.

I'm 5ft 9. DH just over 6ft. DS19 is 6" 1. DS16 has been over 6ft from 13 and is now 6"5 with size 13 feet. Not sure if he's finished. 😆

I’m 5’9 and Dh is 6’5.

So far dc are very average and dd was actually quite short for her age when younger, I suspect they will shoot up at some point.

I'm 5'8'' and DH is 6ft. DS17 is currently 5'11''.

I am 3 inches taller than DM was. DH is 2 inches taller than DFIL.

Height is influenced by genes from grandparents as well as parents. So if you’re an average-height person from a tall family, your kids might turn out to be tall. Whereas, if you’re the tallest member of a short family, don’t be surprised if your kids grow up to be shorter than you. That said, it’s difficult to predict on an individual basis - I know full siblings who differ markedly in height.

5ft 11 myself and dh is 6ft 2

Dd is 13 and last time I checked was 5ft 9, but now feels like she's only about an inch shorter than me so will check again.

She doesn't like being tall and is desperate to stop growing now. She's worried she'll be taller than me and get to 6 ft. Both of us have size 8 feet which she also hates

I'm 5'10, DH is 5'11.

Our sons are, in birth order, 6'2, 6' and 6'3.

The women in my family tend to be average height and the men are all 6ft plus except for my dh and my own dad who are both around 5’10. DC are 12 and 14 and as tall as them already so have a feeling they will both be tall. I feel that children are growing taller than their parents these days but that’s probably anecdotal!

I am 5ft 8 kids Dad is 5ft 7.

Dd (20) is 5ft 2. Ds (13) is 5ft 8

@TeenagersAngst Can I ask when your dd stopped growing?

I thought it was supposed to be a year or so after periods start, but it's been 18 months and dd is still growing, she's had a really rapid growth spurt over the last few months (combined with putting on some weight she's upset she has stretch marks in various places that sometimes seem to appear overnight)

As a baby she was always 99th centile for height, predicted height was 5ft 11 same as me but I think she's going to go past that

I thought it was 2 years after periods start?

I'm 5 foot 9 and Dh is 6 foot 1. DD1 is 5 ft 9.5, Dd2 is 5 foot 10, DS is only 11 so still growing, he's currently 5 foot 2 but is growing really quickly. I'm sure hel be over 6 foot 1 as Dh is and my brothers both are.

DS1 grew to 6ft by the age of 12 but hasn't grown since - he's 25 now

DS2 grew to 6ft by the age of 15 and is now 6ft 4 at age 22

Both my dds stopped growing and feet never grew any more after their periods started.
