If you are tall - did your children grow to be?

I'm just over 5 feet 9 and my exh is 6 feet tall. Son is over 6 feet at 13 and 10 year old DD over five feet

I know they are going to be tall - but how tall! What was your experience?

'5'8" and 6' here
DS1 was 6' aged 12 and then stopped growing.
DS2 was still only 5'4 aged 15 but is now 6'4"

I’m 5 feet 7
ex 1 is 5 feet 5

Dd1 is 5 feet 4
Ds is 5 feet 9

Both ex and I had fathers who were around 5 foot 9

Ex2 is 5 feet 11

dd2 is 5 feet 8
dd2 is 14 and five feet 5 and still growing

so all apart from dd 1 are tall.

I'm over 5 10", DH is 6ft. DC1 (male) is 6 4", DC2 (born female) 5 5", DC3 (female) 5 9". A bit of a mix!

I'm 5f 8' and Ex husband is 6f. DS is 15 and 6f 4' and still growing.

Me 5'8", DH 5'11" - DD 5'5and a half".

Dunno what happened there.

DD1 5'2" (stopped growing probably)
DD2 5'0 at 9.5 so definitely still growing!

Most children end up in between the heights of their parents but not always and not unusual for boys to be taller than their dads

DD9 she's up to my shoulder. I do think she'll be taller than me.

You can’t call it. My parents are small. Im 5.8 and my brother is 6.3.

Dh parents small, His sisters average. He’s 6.1

My daughter is 5.5 with petite hands and feet.
My son was frequently taken for her twin ( which he hated) and was small for the whole of high school. Had a growth spurt at sixth form and is now 6 foot.

I’m 5 11” DS at 14 is as tall as me I assume he’s going to be 6 2-4” like his cousins. Dad is 6 ft. I have twins though and they are on the shorter side for their age (9) they have followed a shorter centile since birth tbf. I had a big growth spurt in high school and grew 6” over a summer so they might have a spurt.

Not sure how tall their father was

DH 6’1, I’m 5’11.

DD is 5’11 (reached full height at 15) and DS is 6’4 (was 6’2 by 15 but grew the extra two inches very slowly between 15-18.!)

I'm 5'9 and their dad 6'2 my adult dd is also 5'9 my son is 6'5

I'm 5'11 and DF is 6foot.

Son is 6'5".

Also 5'11, XH about 6'1.

DS1 is 6'3
DS2 a pip under 6'7, exactly 2 metres.

Kids are toddlers so it’s too early to call, but I suppose it could go either way with the genetic mix!

DH and I are tall. Me 5ft 10. Him 6ft 1.

We have a 6ft 2 DS and a 5ft 5 DD.

She remains a bit cross as we "brought her up expecting to be tall."

We both come from tall families but there is the odd shortie. My granny was 5ft and on the other side I have a 4ft 9 Aunt.

My parents:
DM 5ft 6, DF 5ft 10.
DB 6ft 4, Me 5ft 5
My mum's dad was tall, around 6ft or just above. None in dad's family were tall.

In terms of my own family:
DD1 is an inch taller than me and DD2 is below but still growing. DH's family were quite tall.

My dad did that @zero- he was 5'3" at 15 and 6'3" by 16. Huge growth spurt. He's 80 now and looks short next to my son which feels odd as I'm not used to dad being the short one in the household!

Both my parents are tall and DP's dad is over 6'. DP takes after his mum though and is a bit shorter than his dad.

My son takes after my side of the family - I am the shortest by quite a margin at 5'9". My sister is 6' and my female cousins are all a lot taller than me. My male cousins range from 6'2" to 6'8". I'm not surprised that DS is 6'5" and (possibly) still growing. I had hoped he would stop at about 6'2" but that wasn't to be.

Nope. My mother was 5'7". My dad 6' 2". I was 5' 11".
My DH was 5'11.5" - his Dad 6' 2", mum 5'4".
Our children's are (F) 5'6.5" and (m) 5'11.5". My stepsons are 5'9" and 6'1".

While heights increased in the later half of the 20th century I believe we have reached a limit. Nutrition had not improved markedly over the last 50 years.

My full family are short. I'm considered tall at 5ft 4 lol! My ex is 6ft and all his family including parents snd sisters are tall his brother is 6ft 3. My DD10 is around 4'11 and has really long legs. She's defiantly her dad's daughter. She was a long baby too. I reckon she will get to 5 ft 6/7. Also what is with kids feet these days cause she a size 5 and so am I 😂 xxxx

Dh and I are both 5'10". Ds(20) is 6'3" and hopefully stopped now.

He stretched a lot when he was 17-19, so much he had lots of bright red stretch marks across his lower back.

This is so interesting! Thanks for all the answers! I hated being tall until I was about 16 and the boys caught up. My DD is tallest in the class and wonder how tall she will end up. Son is on 99 centile for height.

When do boys stop growing roughly? We have a 6"5 one aged 15... and he seems to be steadily still going! DH 6'4. Clothes are really tricky already!

In our families it seems our children have been the "regression to the mean" generation. My sister and I both ended up taller than our 5'10" father, roughly 6' or so. My DH is about 6'3 or 6'4 I think. DS is only marginally taller than me, DD is the "little one" of the family at about 5'8/5'9...

Having said that, both of them were very tall throughout childhood, but grew relatively early. If they had been closer to average age for puberty they would both have been at least a couple of inches taller maybe more.

As to when they stop growing, if you realise their feet haven't grown for a while it's a clue. I think with us feet stopped growing up to a couple of years before the rest of them did. DD was in her current shoe size at the age of 10, DS by the age of 12, having just about done age=shoe size at 11...
