Women are banned from talking in public

Washingupdone · 26/08/2024 13:13

Women through new laws issued by Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers, are now banned on speaking in public as a woman's voice is considered "intimate" and should not be heard. I feel so sad and helpless for their situation. At least I am educated and in this situation would try to limit birth control without my husband being aware of my actions, if I could.
Does anyone know how they can be helped?

Sexual abuse of boys is already rampant in Afghanistan. I saw a documentary about it and it was incredibly grim.
What they do is pay the parents to let their boys come to "work" for them. They are dressed up as women and made to dance for groups of men, then they are gang raped.
Sorry if that triggers anybody, but it's important that we know the facts.

I saw an American serviceman being interviewed who said that they could hear the abuse taking place on the military bases but we're not allowed to intervene to prevent it.

wrongthinker · 26/08/2024 22:53

There are many, many Afghan men in this country. Are they going to protest & lobby on behalf of the women in their country. Many of these men say they are fleeing the taliban regieme, now they are in the West how are they going to raise awareness on behalf of their female counterparts?

I doubt very much that we'll see any protest from Afghan men living here.

According to this article homosexuality is given the maximum death penalty under Sharia Law...

The Taliban have since "solved" this problem by charging mostly the boys, rather than the rapists, and putting them to death.
It still goes on in secret though.

Yes, I heard the same. Godawful.

Why doesn't that surprise me.

BobbyBiscuits · 26/08/2024 22:59

@XChrome yeah it's horrific. It's like the only way they could leave would be to disguise themselves as men? But then they'd probably be forced to join the army or something?
Most Muslims would be horrified by this level of control over women.

No one, that I know of. But in general, that's the mainstream push.

No it's not. Being on the side of international law and innocent non combatants is not the same as support for terrorists.

Well we should, these men say they are here because they are escaping the Taliban regieme. The world is watching on in horror as Afghan women are no longer allowed use their voice in public.
The millions of Afghan men accross Europe need to stand together & shout on behalf of all girls & women in Afghanistan. They can see how us women live in western culture surely they can compare & contrast.

This is the small charity that helped evacuate some Afghan women to Scotland this month. A small step but freedom and life for those lucky women https://lindanorgrovefoundation.org/

Thank you for sharing this link.

No doubt the one's that act out their paedophile gang rapes hold some position of power therefore the absurd law's they inflict on others don't apply to themselves.

Yep Sharia Law for thee but not for me...

KylieAndBaby01 · 26/08/2024 23:33

What birth control? Didn’t they ban that over there

KylieAndBaby01 · 26/08/2024 23:34

Does this mean little girls won’t be allowed to be kids/chat in public either??

BunfightBetty · 26/08/2024 23:37

Muthaofcats · 26/08/2024 18:59

Why doesn’t the world care ? Where are the screaming protests and riots about this. These poor poor women and children and the world is happy to shrug and turn away. I wonder if the zeitgeist for focusing on ‘Islamophobia’ has been a clever device to stop people from legitimately questioning Islamist regimes.

Well yes, will the Socialist Worker Party et al be organising marches against this? If not, why not?

KylieAndBaby01 · 26/08/2024 23:37

I remember looking at Afghanistan travel videos and there were hardly any women outside anyway and even hour long video I think I only saw 2 women outside.

I'm not being mean,we are talking about a regime that allows women to be tried for adultery and the sentence is Stoned to death.
So probably fair to say the Taliban don't do nurturing of children.

Stop telling people what threads they can post on. Stop policing the thread.

And will the millions of Afghan men in Europe fleeing the Taliban regieme stand in solidarity with their Afghan women & demand change on their behalf. The Afghan men here in the west are safe, they need to use their voices, protest & tell the world the way women in Afghanistan are treated compared to how us western women are free to live our lives as we choose.
Afghan men here in the west need to advocate for their women. They have no excuse not to.

While what you say absolutely true @FOJN, many people do not bother to read deeply into it and just knee jerk react.

Agreed

Afghanistan has never done Islam properly. Saudi needs to call this out, denounce them, but they fund the fucking Taliban

Not much difference between the two is there?

BunfightBetty · 26/08/2024 23:55

Saudi is a massive, massive problem all round. The human misery caused by Saudi and Iran is off the scale.

VOTENONOO · 26/08/2024 23:55

Wonder what do the millions of Afghan men in Europe think of us western women & our lifestyles, dress sense, jobs, choice to have sex, choice to drink alcohol.. Are they angry with their govt for the way women are treated?
Surely from an Afghan mams perspective now living in Europe & having fled the Taliban regieme for his own safety he knows how evil & horrific his country is.

wanttogetadvice · 27/08/2024 00:01

And it is not even an islamic thing to do. In Prophet's time, women used to argue with him and his wife used to teach other companions. I don't understand where these people get these wierd ideas from. If only they had actually studied and learner about Islam.
