Again by far the most serious terrorism and violence in Europe and the USA is Islamist extremism. This needs to be dealt with and not downplayed or dismissed.

I agree with you, @shittestusernameever@User6874356
It's a massive problem, people don't want to address it.
Sorry, @shittestusernameever I tagged you in error and it won't delete!

in the uk as well as Germany many people are sick of the dismissal and downplaying of these atrocities. Why is your first thought about a terrorist attack that murdered several people a concern that it doesn’t lead to a rise in support for a political party you don’t support? Islamic state/Isis have murdered people going about their lives in Germany. Why aren’t you more concerned about that?

as a Jew, in the uk in the last year we have seen thousands of antisemitic attacks on property and people including on synagogues, restaurants, primary schools and school kids. Yet very little is done and we still see open support for terrorism on a weekly basis in our streets. Even the alleged ā€œanti racistā€ marches in the uk featured open support for terrorism and widespread speeches and chants spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories.

it’s time to stop pretending that organizations such as Isis or Hamas are anything other than incredibly violent dangerous racist misogynist terrorist organizations. Stop downplaying the risk or pretending that they are equivalent to the AFD or reform party or whatever. They are not. They are illegal terrorist organizations who are a whole world apart from anyone in the AFD.

much as I do not support any of these right wing groups, there is simply no equivalence

Your first concern about Islamic extremist terrorism is ā€œthe reaction of the far rightā€. That’s ridiculous. People have been murdered in the streets in Europe. By Islamic terrorists.

it’s not nuanced thinking to constantly dismiss violence you don’t want to know about and concern yourself instead with something that fits your political narrative. It’s just bias.

EasternStandard · 25/08/2024 13:18

I'm not sure what people expect tbh if politicians keep downplaying and dismissing these attacks.

Of course political shift will occur due to that

When will men be held accountable for their actions?

I agree. In the Jewish community we are such a minority that we are mainly just terrified by the rise of this extremism and violence towards us. But there is no doubt that when it is targeted towards the general public, there will be a backlash as we have seen.

Regardless, our politicians need to do more to deal with the terrorists. Not just to stop a backlash by the general public but to protect us from the terrorist violence and ideology as they are supposed to do.

At all political energy is concentrated on the effect, tell people they are the problem rather than what they are reacting to

The media is following this line to a large extent

I can't see it working over time. And I'd say politicians are culpable for allowing this and also not dealing with it now

the numbers and statistics show that Islamist terrorism is a far greater threat to Jews and the general public than far right in Germany and the uk.

i make no assumptions on whatever you think- I just go on what you wrote in your posts.

The AFD are a mainstream political party. I do not support them but they are not equivalent to Isis and it is ridiculous to suggest otherwise.

Yes I agree. They are downplaying islamist extremism and focusing instead on the response. That’s absolutely the wrong approach- this extremism is a major threat to our safety and should be addressed.

Sad. Sad When will men stop killing people? Shock

To answer this particular question, when there are NO men.

It's like they are normalising these events... It's become politically incorrect to call these terror organisations out for fear of offending the snowflakes, aided & abetted by the media.

it's islamist terror. Isis.
So yes, male terrorists, but important to
mention that this is Islamic terror.

Surely if you are very worried about the ā€˜far rights’ response to attacks like these, it’s even more of an incentive to concentrate and the actual attacks the prompt the response.

Surely any government wouldn’t want the attack or rioting in response. It makes no sense to concentrate on the potential response to the attacks and not the initial attacks themselves.

Deeply and tragically ironic that Solingen is the historic centre of German knife making šŸ˜ž

I grew up with Solingen scissors that predate me (1972). Totally weird irony that this attack should occur in this particular city. But god what a horrible tragedy.
Male violence is off the charts this summer.

The NATO base thing will likely have to do with the threat of a Russian retaliation against NATO/Ukraine following the Ukrainian invasion of Kursk. Russian retaliation for Ukraine’s presence in Russia could take the form of attacks on NATO bases in Germany or Poland.

dottiehens · 25/08/2024 17:33

This shit is really exhausting. When are the people in charged going to be held accountable for this violence and gory murders. I find extremely repulsive the people trying to make light of the situation.

halava · 25/08/2024 17:44

Am I the only one to get the feeling that media and Governments apply more emphasis on the potential reaction of the so called "Far Right" than on the acts of terrorism themselves?

Something is not right here at all.

šŸ’Æ... What's the agenda? It's clear as day to us lay people, why is there not much more exposure of ISIS & all the cells operating in towns & cities throughout Europe?
