I’m not sure how this works as points of entry will be a few countries and clearly people move elsewhere and can claim asylum

On a wider point there was a news item with 100s swimming to enter Spanish town taken back by police. I’m not sure how that fits with current laws

I’m not sure how it’s supposed to work either. I think he was supposed to claim asylum in Bulgaria and was possibly denied?

The AfD might suggest that immigration itself is the threat.

As you keep repeating you "are not a politician" & have no opinion on how you would change the "stance" of government so I would take your statements on AdF & everything else with a pinch of salt🫣

I think governments need to answer why so many more young, single men are seeking asylum & not women/children? This has always confused & angered me in equal measure.

This begs the question: If male terrorists are willing to act as ā€˜proxy soldiers’ for ISIS inside their host country, why weren’t these terrorists willing to take up arms as ISIS soldiers in their own country?
(just to add the obvious: This is really is more of a rhetorical question. I don’t want to come across as supportive of ISIS or the young men who carry out heinous crimes in its name)

Exactly. The media & governments need to be asking & finding answers to these questions

I didn't mention men or knife crime.

You’re right, it was someone else earlier on in the thread.

Different poster, same strategy.

I believe that might have been me when I wrote male violence is off the charts this summer (undeniable and also humans are prone to more violence in summertime).

No strategy. But I almost see this as two crimes: Male-perpetrated knife crime and terrorism- two cheeks of the same dirty ass that is the ā€˜Violent Male’ (not male. Violent male. There’s a difference that is obvious but I really want to point this out).

I think there are some fairly obvious reasons for men to travel alone

– Men may be less vulnerable than women and children to the often perilous and arduous journeys involved. Makes perfect sense that women and children would stay at home while men travel overland or make sea crossings for asylum. Once there and established with legal status it may be supposed to be safer and less uncertain to be joined by dependents or other family members.

– Once there, the men can also work and send money back home to their families.

Yes.

It’s pretty clear you’re not comfortable with people discussing this incident.

You’ve been banging on about the AfD.

You’ve said this thread is Islamophobic.

You’re referencing the IRA as if what they were up to 50 plus years ago has set some kind of precedent in Europe for what people should be expected and happy to deal with in the present day.

Why?

Yes, this was also common when people left European countries to move to other continents, from 1900 onwards.

It's pretty clear some folk have decided how to see the situation and are not open to constructive discussion.
Also, I mentioned the IRA because it was also a terror threat.

Yes apparently there will be a crackdown.

Alexander Dobrindt, Chairman of the CSU (Christian Social Union) Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag presented the following five point action plan:

  1. Immediate implementation of deportations to Syria and Afghanistan.
  2. Revocation of German passports for terrorist supporters with dual citizenship.
  3. Revocation of the right of residence for asylum seekers who holiday in their countries of origin.
  4. Deportation custody for criminals who are obliged to leave the country.
  5. No ā€œexpress naturalisationā€ after mere three years of residence.

Some of them were forced to move because staying in their own country would have meant a struggle to survive, perhaps starvation even. They sought new lands and new opportunities. They were mostly white, of course.

I find this disingenuous.

White Europeans of course moved to countries that were largely white and Christian. English speaking settlers moved to countries that were largely English speaking as well. Why does this surprise anyone?

I find it surprising that you don't realise how these countries often were not originally 'white and christian', and that you aren't aware of how white folk colonised many countries.
Or maybe you are aware but choosing to ignore.

The problem is a country can rubber stamp the word ā€˜deport’ with every intention of doing so. Bulgaria can say Nope! Afghanistan and Syria won’t be deemed safe enough, humane enough to welcome back in their citizens, especially Syria right now (civil war and wider conflict with Israel). It’s difficult enough for those Syrians willing to return to their country to get back in. Returning citizens can impact an already bad humanitarian crisis in the country. Deportation should never be an aid to an ongoing humanitarian crisis. I think we all know this.
The laws and bureaucracy around immigration are impossible for us lay folk to debate because the whole issue of immigration, specifically when it comes to asylum seekers and refugees, is so complex and complicated.

The problem is a country can rubber stamp the word ā€˜deport’ with every intention of doing so. Bulgaria can say Nope!

I just read that Bulgaria had actually agreed, but the guy managed to avoid deportation by disappearing from the asylum seekers’ accommodation he was staying at.
A decision to transfer made under the Dublin III Regulations expires after six months. This can be extended to 18 months if the applicant has absconded, but wasn’t done in this case, and so he just reappeared once the six months deadline was over.
It also says in the same article that most transfers within the EU fail not because member states refuse to take back asylum seekers.
Apparently, in the first half of 2024, 36795 transfer applications were submitted and in 21314 cases member states had agreed to the transfer, ie to taking back asylum seekers, but only 3043 transfers actually took place.

Actually, if you are referring to America, white European dissidents created that country. Fought a war with you lot over it too. It is legitimately their country.

But I guess this was an attempt to derail. Well done you.

Are you forgetting about the groups who already lived in places like America and Australia, who weren't/aren't 'white and christian'?

Why are you talking about ā€œfrom 1900 onwardsā€ when what’s being discussed here is what’s happening now?
Could I just move to Australia or to Canada to seek new opportunities simply because I’m white?
Some people want to move because they’re fleeing war and persecution, some people want to move for better economic opportunities. Both is understandable, but mixing the two groups isn’t helpful.

The figures below are interesting although moving him to Bulgaria doesn't resolve the threat he posed particularly, just shifts it to another country
