@Werweisswohin

Seeing as you are either unable or unwilling to, I have attached a link to the AfD manifesto. I only had a skim read and whilst there were topics I disagreed on, there was nothing presenting a "real risk" .

https://www.afd.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/2017-04-12afd-grundsatzprogramm-englischh_web.pdf

Meanwhile these are the policies of Islamic State which are truly scary:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State

To try and state that both AfD and ISIS are a comparable "real risk" is firstly just not true, secondly incredibly uneducated and thirdly naive left wing propaganda.

I don't need your links, thanks, I'm perfectly able to keep up with German politics already.
I'm not comparing anything either, just stating that both are risks.

From what I can tell AfD plan to introduce more referendums on controversial topics? Is that not a good thing? Letting citizens vote on very important social topics & policies rather than have these policies being made by governments with their own agendas?

You don't think the AfD has 'their own agenda'? 🫣

Of course I do @Werweisswohin @1dayatatime has very kindly linked AfDs political agenda in case you missed it🫣
I think the fact that the AfD are advocating for referendums is a positive thing.

Edited to be correct you mean.
I would never post anything in support of the AfD.
Of course they want you to think they're doing positive things.
They pick up a genuine cause and say what folk want to hear, before subtly moving toward a their hateful standpoint.
Do we need to deal better with immigration in Europe? Yes.
Do we want the far right, including AfD, to be in charge of that? Resounding no.
It's not a coincidence that the AfD are doing well in the former, and often more disadvantaged, East.

PP just posted a link to their agenda though, that doesn’t necessarily mean support?

1dayatatime · 26/08/2024 10:11

@Werweisswohin

"I would never post anything in support of the AfD."

Posting the AfD's published policies (of which I stated there were some I disagreed on) hardly constitutes "in support of".

I would say it is simply being fully informed of the facts on which to base your opinions on rather than basing them uneducated hate and uninformed prejudice.

Janesygal · 26/08/2024 10:16

@1dayatatime absolutely correct, personally I feel referendums are a very good thing so if the AfD will introduce more referenda that can only be a good thing for Germany.
However again this talk of the AfD is derailing the thread when the huge problem is the spread of ISIS & the mass radicalisation that they are engineering. This is the threat to western civilisation & all of our personal safety.

So we can look at their published plans and see there’s nothing dangerous, but then you implied they have some sinister endpoint in mind … that you have somehow sussed out but refuse to tell the rest of us about?

…. You aren’t very convincing here, you know that, right?

Janesygal · 26/08/2024 10:22

Another media example.. This one is citing Russia as Irelands biggest threat to national security, mentions ISIS but sees Russia as higher in the pecking order.. To me this is wrong ISIS should be the headline here, Russia seems an easy target..

ā€˜Recent events should be a wake-up call to the threats to Ireland’s national security’

Amid threats ranging from Russia’s activities off our coast to espionage and radicalisation, there are growing concerns about the need to reform Ireland’s defence and security structures

@Janesygal

Fair point on the derailment.

So returning the actual post I think we can all agree that the attack in Solingen was barbaric and horrific.

The second point is why is there radicalisation and what can be done to prevent it.

I'm not trying to convince anyone.

Derailing it from what?
Islamophobia?

Yep it's like the media tactic of sweeping ISIS & the mass radicalisation of young teens under the carpet but let's focus on the so called "far right" instead.

Nobody is doing that.
Also, it's just far right.

conis · 26/08/2024 10:39

everything is "far right"'if it's not "extreme left" these days. I mean, I'm pretty certain most of the people enjoying the Notting Hill carnival won't be "far right" but the media aren't talking about far left thuggery and stabbings there over
the weekend.

That's not actually true.
AfD are far right though.
I don't doubt that all parties need to reconsider their stance on immigration however supporting the AfD isn't the answer.

So people wanting to discuss the spread of ISIS and the mass radicalisation that seems to be happening are being islamophobic?

No, of course not.
ISiS are a threat, but far right parties tend to see whole groups of people (Muslims, Jews, etc) as a threat and not just the terrorist groups.

I said stance, not policies.
Reconsider just means consider existing policies in light of recent developments. That's not a novel concept.

Yes I know but I'm interested in what you think is realistic and could help?

Janesygal · 26/08/2024 11:30

@1dayatatime@1dayatatime has posted AdFs policy above, I'm also very interested to see what exactly @Werweisswohin would do differently.. Would also like to know how @Werweisswohin would stop the spread of ISIS & the radicalisation of young teens & people? I suspect we won't get an answer!
