To be honest, that breakdancer was dreadful though...

@pointythings

Sorry to hear about your DD. Can I just say... similar happened to mine (6 weeks after moving in together), he was a shit. I won't pretend that it didn't take a while to get over, it did. She did learn from it and had to heal. I was so worried about her, but she eventually met someone 1000% better and is now settled and I've never known her so happy.
Good vibes to your DD.

Yes, I watched her and thought that I wouldnt have been much worse. I saw some Street Dancing a few years ago - anyone could take part, it wasn't a "show" - and some of the dancers were brilliant. There's this whole other culture going on in Birmingham that's fab.

What's with the disclaimers? What they need is balaclavas like all their nasty mates then we'd never guess who they are.

DuncinToffee · 21/08/2024 09:02

Thought I would share this clip of Barack Obama, boom!

It's total typical bellend bollocks. Much like the pretty signatures we used to see on MN posts about "not giving permission yadda yadda ..."

People who have no idea how law works trying to pretend they do.

This should be interesting to watch. I'd love nothing more than things like GB News to implode.

Can it though?
Paul Marshall & Legatum seem content to just keep throwing money at it - GB News owes its parent company £80 million.

@pointythings - I'm sorry to hear of your Dds end of her relationship & her need to decide where to settle now. It's hard to see a Dc sad or struggling. Hopefully she will come through to a happier place though rather rhan get stuck in something not right.

@itsgettingweird - that's really great news about the car - fantastic for independence too. I know what you mean about being used to fighting for disabled Dc' rights & needs. Its a shock when you can 'put the cudgels' down'.

Ah Obama. Flashback to the days before UK / US politics took a turn for the crazy.

If half of their team were actually held to account for inciting tensions between the population, i'd hope it would implode.

Obviously i know it's unlikely sadly.

SerendipityJane · 21/08/2024 10:37

I think ultimately GBNews fate is will be that it is only ever broadcasting it's entertainment to GBNews viewers. (A cohort that has been reduced by a few hundred these past weeks, incidentally, unless you can get GBNews in D-Wing). And because the one thing GBNews viewers like doing more than anything else is watching GBNews, rather than; say, working; it's not really a profitable base from which to build.

I haven't yet tweaked my headline feed to remove them because very early experimentation showed you don't need to read the article (and thus give them the clicks) in question. Which also applies to the Telegraph, Express, Mail and Guardian. Maybe having a COVID vaccination also provides immunity against partisan reporting ? Who knows. Or cares ?

I always liked him. He's so calm when he speaks and draws you in to listen.

itsgettingweird · 21/08/2024 11:17

Always back in June (poss July?) they had a presenter who called Braverman racist. Said her opinions on. British Pakistani men being sexual deviants (paraphrased) was evidenced. Collecting race to actions was racist.

He hasn't been seen since and Gb news made some kind of statement about his views being wrong and they are sorry.

I thought he was pretty damn spot on Grin

I wouldn't put anything past him. He's proven time and time again to be a horrible human.

Many years ago, when tax discs were a thing, I got chatting to a real life policeman. He had a whistle and all. There had just been some puff piece on teh news about police resenting acting as tax collectors and how they shouldn't be checking VED. (I can only presume a senior minister was caught in flagrante sans tax)

Anyway he - very carefully - commented that generally stopping a car for no tax "usually" revealed "other offences" that made it a valuable tool in the war against criminals.

(I paraphrase, he spoke "copper" and I can't reproduce the words here).

It seems to be a law of nature that where you find one illegal act, there will be a string of others.

A couple of years ago, there was a dramatic stop on the M6 by Aston. Car full of wannabe gangsters was stopped with a bootfull of guns, shotguns, pistols and machine guns. Cue much defence action about profiling and the legality of the stop. Quickly withdrawn when the police pointed out the car had not MOT, tax or insurance.

Please, never ever ever credit criminals with any degree of intelligence. They really aren't. I mean really really aren't. Just look at the mensa rejects being locked up by the dozen right now. How many of them would you trust to sit the right way round on a toilet ?

See you that, and raise the guy who tagged his local force in on his tweets about how he was going to go a-rioting

Re criminals- Many years ago I was unlucky enough to have my 1st teenage temp job with a person who turned out to be a huge fraudster. I was there a just a few months as a lowly Receptionist but I'll never forget being interviewed by the SFO (we all were). I've noticed his name in the papers on & off over the years as the SFO try to pin him down (for a debt to taxpayers of £82M never successfully as yet). Yesterday, something made me randomly Google him. He's recently been convicted of stealing Covid business relief funds (£50k, a drop in the ocean of what he owes). I really hope he's sentenced to prison again.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 21/08/2024 12:27

@SerendipityJane our little saying is "not all motorists are criminals but most criminals are motorists".

driving along in their cars is a good place to find them.
