I feel a bit bad posting mu good news now
but here it is.
Ds had his mobility car! It has a hand paddle adaption with indicator switch on it and a steering wheel ball (and a plate to cover the pedals if he's using it) so if his right leg isn't playing ball he can still drive it. It's automatic because his left foot doesn't work but the right does until it chooses not to!
Also after the excellent advice from pointy we have been to an independent mobility shop. For some reason he got a grant to cover the initial £300 for the car as well as a new car payment. So we have decided to put that towards a new custom made wheelchair and I said I'll help with rest from selling my old car as we aren't having (don't need) both.
(I'll make a note to check insurance cover on it!)
When your so use to everything being a fight re disability it feels such a relief when things feel like they are going right and you can get what's needed.
His current award is until May 2028 so we can keep car until then as adapted cars are always accepted for extended lease beyond 3 years.
