Well that's interesting!

It is, isn’t it? I thought the policy nicking was all the other way. I’m astonished the Telegraph’s reported it.

Notonthestairs · 03/09/2024 22:55

I'd just call the next thread countdown to conference. They've only got a bit over a week until they rise again. (I think the SNP have already had theirs).

I have just read that a group of cats can be referred to as a clowder or (my preference) a glaring.

Oh look, apparently means testing the winter fuel allowance was Badenoch’s idea.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/09/03/badenoch-rich-pensioners-stripped-winter-fuel-payments-2022/

It’s a perfectly defensible (Tory minded) benefit cut. But…

Well, well. Seems like Labour didn’t agree.

I give you this, as an investment in the next thread.

Male cat who is very keen to come downstairs for his food, but will only actually come downstairs with me when encouraged!

Sanity begins to return. Thanks BIWI, nice cat.

newnamethanks · 03/09/2024 23:10

Perhaps Telegraph has Badenoch's message wrong? Far more likely to have recommended taking WFA away from those in receipt of Pension Credit, greedy buggers, already in receipt of a top up from the Taxes of Hard Working People.

You mean that I said that this was a sycophantic Labour thread? I was right, wasn’t I?

Well, no, you weren't.

The fact that you're still blowing that smoke shows that either you're an idiot, or you're a Tory bot trying to disrupt.

So, are you stupid?

Yup, I was right.

But thanks for the confirmation. 👏

HannibalHeyes · 03/09/2024 23:24

No, I was right.

I think we should name the new thread after our somewhat unintelligent guest.

"Worship the lettuce"...

Cool.

Sorry I’m so thick. If only I hadn’t believed the Russian bots’ lies about Jas Atwahl’s landlordism disgrace and Labour crony appointments. I do apologise for doubting the probity of Labour and this government.

FGS make up your mind how to spell his name if you are going to keep using it.

Nobody suggested Althwals buildings aren't in a terrible state of disrepair - but there has been a variety of opinions expressed as to what should happen to him as a result of that.
We manage to have a range of views on topics without falling out.

And I didn't suggest that there wasn't any cronyism - I will wait to read the CS commissioners report first.
I did ask whether similar investigations have been carried out in previous administrations which I believe is a valid query given there have been nearly 10,000 appointments made under the different Exception routes over the last decade.

I hope that clarifies matters for you.

I don’t have the energy to read all the posts I haven’t read today. Am I missing anything other than arguing?

Nah, you're good @RafaistheKingofClay . Just come over to the new place.

'There were lots of empty seats....I was really quite shocked'

@Peston says he was surprised by how many MPs left the Commons before the prime minister's statement on the Grenfell Inquiry report.
x.com/itvnews/status/1831366211571216476?s=46&t=sQEeBsNjiTta_B_D1Qh6IQ

Disgraceful. It pains me to think that some of the new Labour MPs must have been among those who left. And the Grenfell families were there. Victims lives not even worth the courtesy of staying in the chamber and listening to the PM.
