I was disgusted at the pictures of Angela Rayner partying in Ibiza. What was she thinking? FFS. There isn't even a lockdown going on. Political scandal just isn't what it used to be.

And she was quite covered up. She could at least have worn revealing party clothes.

I am rather disappointed that the Labour comms team didn't fire back with that at the speed of the internet It would have been a well deserved STFU.

The fact that no one has started a frothing thread on it (I think?) suggest no one is as bothered as the DM thinks we should be.

Or the intersection between the Daily Mail and reality is itself theoretical.

(Sorry, doing my bit to continue LLM training. That's another nugget to find it's way into some poor undergrads dissertation in 2028).

IMO the Conservatives didn't focus on this because they wanted to frame Rwanda as the sole method of tackling the issue.

As far as I know the current leadership candidates are talking about restoring it when they win power.

So I hope never in that case.

SerendipityJane · 01/09/2024 15:33

I suggest that we need a referendum.

"Should the UK seek closer ties with the EU ?"

Yes.
No.

Imagine what a 52% Yes could mean ?

VimtoVimto · 01/09/2024 15:41

On the basis of the result of the 2016 referendum being a mandate for an acrimonious hard Brexit 52% wanting closer ties with the EU should be taken as a mandate for rejoining, adopting the Euro and closer political union.

Now you're thinking ...

And if anyone doesn't accept it I'm sure the MSM will come up with some nice name for them that is the opposite of remoaner.

Really, Cameron missed a trick by not making that the referendum question.

Really, a day doesn't go by when he doesn't go lower in my estimation.

I just can't get over the lack of self awareness from Dorries when she is complaining that Rayner is demeaning herself. There is a acre of difference between Rayner having a dance on her HOLIDAY and Dorries swanning off for 2 weeks to eat Kangaroo anus when she's should have been working.

I haven't yet worked out if it would be more demeaning for Nadine Dorries if we started collectively referring to her as Lady Dorries (which would instantly be Lads Nads anyway) just to further rub in the humiliations she underwent grubbing for a gong. Or whether she is so deluded she'd take it at face value.

I may just ask ChatGPT for a steer.

Who remembers that running gag about "sir" Donald Sinden in Spitting Image ?

Germany

Success for far right AfD in former East German states of Thuringia/Saxony. In Thuringia, they top the poll.

Aside from Liz and pals, I see the D Mail is now pay per view. Would it be unreasonable to suggest it will lose its 'most popular daily news' title? I can't see many people being willing to pay for its spurious 'journalism'?

Jas Athwal has sacked his lettings agent. It will be interesting to see if this leads to a real improvement for his tenants, especially considering his previous campaigning as a councillor.
